Hey Luke...... I remember this from the community build, an unusual car to lower but it works great ! Love the colour coded bumpers, smoothed door handles etc etc ! And as for paint, that black is just perfect, well done mate. ........ Lowlife ! !

Finally the bugs back........... Been wondering how I can fit the front screen and bonnet, and still have a dash that covers the engine, as its sits way back ! Luckily I got a 94 Firebird cheap, to use for parts and the dash is perfect ! So im using the 350z interior floor, the Pontiac dashboard and a cut down beetle screen Should work ok, im off to try it now so hears a mock up and I will show pics when its done...... Lowlife ! !

Hey Eric.......Don't know how I missed the WIP of this, just been back to go through it all... Amazing stuff, so many little details you added, and the paint is outstanding ! ! Just one thing, next time you build a model, and chrome plate everything, and add THAT much flake, add a set of Daytons eh ???? Nice one mate, looking out for the next one already ! ! Lowlife ! ! -
Cesar.......Hello my friend, glad to see you are still building ..... I was blown away with the pics, great work keep it up....And STOP breaking things, the chassis was bad enough but now the A pillars ???? Looking forward to more of the same......

Congrats on nailing the paint JC, im with you there it scares the hell out of me spraying a final coat ! Cant wait to see this together youre doing a fantastic job on the ol` Scort............. Lowlife ! ! -
Looking good Sonny, your doing a great job so far.. One thing, how come you glued all the running gear together without the chassis ?? Are you sure it fits together okay ?? Not criticising here just don't want to see you make any mistakes !! Good job mate looking forward to more ..... Lowlife ! !

Looking good I like it , can I suggest something, try crushed sugar, sprinkled around it looks just like smashed glass. Also rust it around the emblems, door handles etc as these areas soon rust ! Lowlife ! !

Just Love this, very creative, and very well built ! Come on Michael get ya finger out and post it in `under glass` ....... ........ ( Im probably gonna find you've already posted it now !! ) How did it do at the shows by the way ?? Thanks for reposting it .......... Lowlife ! !

Hi Graeme, always nice to see a fellow Brit on here, look forward to seeing your stuff ! ! .......... ......... Lowlife ! !

Thanks Johan, and Skip, if you look closely I did add a metal bar from the bottom of the carb to the bolt fitting below ( seen just above the bottom pulley ) Was this what you meant ? I may try and improve the carb a bit, have to go and find some more pics ! Thanks mate...... Lowlife ! !

Good luck with the build......... ....... Just take your time, and remember the next one WILL always be better ! ! Lowlife ! !

Been considering the wheels for my bug...... ..... The beetle will be basically stock, but I just cant build anything that isn't lowered ! ! So its getting slammed, and a few period accessories possibly ! The standard wheels look huge to me, and I've had these wheels kicking around for ever, no idea where they came from, possibly one of my sons toys when he was little ( I imagine him coming home from nursery, and his toy car up on bricks with the wheels stolen........ ) they do look cool so im considering these. The problem is they would need plastic removing from the back to fit brakes, so I tried the tyres on the standard rims and they fit perfectly so im probably using these....... See what you think anyway, thanks for looking in, Lowlife ! !

Thankyou guys ........ ..... Yes Skip the carb is a bit simple I suppose, one of the problems is the front of the carb had a mold line (and flash) and I may have smoothed it out a little too much ! Thanks Randy, always nice to get a comment from someone whos work is so inspirational ! Just mention for anyone thinking of building one of these, consider running HT leads from the fan shroud ( is it? ) before you glue the two shroud pieces together. Its awkward trying to wire it up after, and you have to enlarge the holes that the wires run through ! More soon......... Lowlife ! !
-
Thanks guys, pleased to say I finished the engine ......... .......... Cant believe how long this took, I have a bad habit of doing bits and then ripping them out and re-doing them ! ! The HT leads are supplied in the kit ( plain black tubing ) so I wired it up, then decided this looked too thick and I had plain cables with no connectors at each end...So it was all ripped out and I used a smaller matt red cable and the kit tubing for the ends. I added a small block of plastic to the block, so I had room for a scratch built dipstick ! Theres a metal bar that supports the carb added, a live feed from the coil and metal nuts n bolts with solder wire for the oil lines. Think that's it for the engine now, onto the chassis build up next ...... ........Thanks for looking in, Lowlife ! !
-
Also heres a couple of my Tamiya 66 bug, for those of you that might not have seen it before....Crusty outside with smoothed and painted engine, interior etc. Oh and slammed as much as possible.......... .........
-
ha ha love the pic above........ ....... Thanks again Christian, your bug looks great ! Im liking this kit more and more, its generally well detailed and so far fits together very well. Ive added a carb with metal linkage, (fan assembly not finished yet ) fuel pump etc and im just starting to wire it all up now. Heres a quick pic of the bug engine now, more soon...... Lowlife ! !
-
Wow for a quick build this is stunning ! ! Absolutely beautiful paint, an im loving the ol` skool Crager 5 spokes ...... ...... Great job .......... Lowlife ! !
-
Thanks for clearing that up Christian, interesting that the manufacturers can produce a model with inaccuracies like this ! Thought they based the model on one original car ? And Greg, im not sure bout the brakes either, but stay tuned and they will be shown when I get around to adding the wheels / suspension ! If anyone wants to show their completed builds of this kit on here, feel free ! ........ Lowlife ! !
-
Thanks guys...... .... Lucas I really like your version, its very tempting to do a rat bug with this ! And Shaun yes it would be nice to run a TDR full race 2 litre in this, but im trying to keep it fairly out-the-box, just detailed a bit !! Bit more done on the engine, the kit goes together well so far and is fairly accurate , ive not painted the exhaust yet although it has a metal tail pipe added ! Also added a couple more metal brackets and mocked it up for a pic ! Just detailing the carb next and scratch building a distributor cap as the kit ones wrong. More soon .... ..... Lowlife ! !

Still following along Andy and its looking great ! ! Love the new wheels, and the hubs, its the little details that set models apart Look forward to more....... Lowlife ! !
