  1. Thanks fellas. I had a feeling my options were going to be extremely limited. When I did my 58 Bonneville I had ordered modelhaus promo wheels for it ( and darn glad I did ) It looks sooooo much better that way . Just not sure I want to buy a complete 58 Edsel kit just to part it out for the wheels. gonna have to think about that one. Is the kit still avail new ? If so,,,,,I might be able to get the kit at hobby lobby with a 40% off coupon ???? but that still puts it kind of rich as a parts kit The Buick I had a feeling was going to be a bear. I was hoping , maybe just maybe something would have been avail as a custom wheel in some other kit ( 62 Chrysler 300 wheel covers in the 58 Impala kit as an example ( thanks for that tidbit btw ) )
  2. Anyone have any suggestions or sources for stock wheels for a 1958 Buick wnd 58 Edsel . These kits have some generic wheel thats ugly
  3. I just opened my factory sealed Daytona kit ( box art shown above) for the 1st time maybe a day or 2 ago. As a member needed a 500 Grille and it has the EXACT same chrome tree in it that my 500 kit has ( again ,,,,box art shown above ) with the Charger 500 grill on it . As for whats in any other issues of the kits,,, I cant speak for . As I don't have any other issues on hand ( as I have several copies of the one above ) Like I said, the hood I haven't ck'd but My green Daytona was built using the kit with the red box art I posted above. EDIT, I just ckd the hoods are in fact different between these 2 kits. I have 2 of the Daytona kits above, both identical contents,,,. both molded in white. My charger 500 is molded in yellow ( yuck ) I didn't go any further to see if any other kit differences . I will be using one of the Daytona kits to build a 500, as I want to build it as a white exterior with red interior car.
  4. I did this one probably 20 years ago. At the time its all there was unless you wanted to drop serious coin on an original MPC NASCAR kit. To this day I like the door scallops on this body compared to the revell version, I think they better represent the actual car.
  5. I can only speak for these 2 as they are exactly what I have. And they have the exact same chrome tree in them . As for the hood, no idea havent ckd
  6. Good link for the Texas Rattler . Ive seen the car in person and I can assure you the car is as close to correct as they come I'd forgot about Darrell Davis and Greg Lanes info. Anything and everything you need to know about the Max Wedge or Race Hemi can be found right here http://racehemi.maxwedge.com/ Ps, this is the 1st I've ever heard them called ' Petty Headers ' or Nascar Only Headers. To my knowledge they were standard issue on every factory produced 1964 and 1965 Race Hemi car. Be it an oval track packaged or Drag Race packaged car
  7. Mail man dropped off these 2. AMT 1964 Buick conv and a 65 Buick hardtop . I Wasn't really looking for them per say. But Ebay suggested I take a look based off my buying habits. ( not sure how I feel about that right now ) So I figured ohh what the heck. I don't normally look for hardtops ,,,but my parents used to have a 65 Buick hardtop and I learned to drive in it, So i made a last minute bid and won them both
  8. Quality is top shelf though. I'll give you that. Only reason I got all mine done is I work from home in the winter. so I tend to take a few days off here and there and work on models . (eases the mind ) Ive got 3 bodies sitting here painted, and my Superbird build is stalled due to lack of enthusiasm . Been tinkering with an AMT 59 Galaxie convertible annual instead. So chances are it'll proceed the fastest .
  9. Yes. Thus the nickname....'Candymatic' and it had red interior The Dodge Boys car was a 4spd also red interior this applies to the 64 dodge sedans
  10. My best advice is pick a team and/or individuals car at a particular point in time and use it and only it as a reference. Keep in mind ,,,,,These cars changed almost race to race. some were very little ,,others made huge changes from one race to the next . Team cars were the ones that usually made the most changes from one race to the next as they tend to have factory backed access to info, Are you looking for info for any particular teams and/or owners car ? I have a pretty good picture file on the PC, a file cabinet full of old magazines ,,,and a box full of old National Dragster magazines. Most of my stuff is early 60s to very early 70s . It just lots of time to go thru old paper files / magazines . Google is ok, but can be very hit or miss on info dependent on how you word the search .
  11. Just my 2cents, but use the car in that video as a very loose reference. My gut feeling is its a clone. I'm going off of memory but I dont think the original Ramchargers car had a roll bar in it. its a 71 and up steering wheel , radiator etc etc This might be a good read http://www.hotrod.com/articles/ramchargers-vs-golden-commandos-back-story-revealed/
  12. That looks really, really good. I personally never cared for any of the 71 or 72 Charger stripes designs - so I like it as a stripe delete
  13. 1970 Road Runner would be pretty high on my list.
  14. The ones I used ' I think' I bought off ebay a SEVERAL years ago. Might have been Fred Cady stuff.....I Honestly don't remember. Pretty sure they are still out there. Just watch for cheap copies Ive been told someone bought and photo copied them and the quality is not good once you have them in your hand . PM me for details if you want more info .
  15. I just ckd the intake in my 62 Chryser 300 kits. Its not even close to accurate of an actual 62 or 63 dual carb intake. IMO I think one could scratch build a more accurate piece using a modern tooled piece as a start
  16. Ive seen the MCW resin 66 Plymouth and Dodge in person. if thats all there is avail. I'll pass.
  17. Thanks all. The sole purpose I bid was to win the 60 Plymouth. I felt ' if' ' it was nice ( it is btw ) it was easily worth my max bid . All the rest would be resell or trade fodder. The Superbird is nice enough I'll keep it. The paint on the 65 GTO is decent so I may just clean it up,,,,,,and do some detail / bmf work and put it in the case ( I don't have one built ) All the rest is going to go away ,,one way or another. btw,,its a 68 Camaro. and am pretty sure its not an original annual ,,,I'm thinking a mid 80s version . Again, I don't have one in the stash so I'm not opposed to redoing it as a Dave Strickler drag car ( much later on) The Vettes are an original AMT 68 and a 65 . Both have the hardtop glued on . Best I can tell all the emblems are intact on both . And a surprise was when they showed up was the original box for both the 60 Plymouth and the 68 Vette.
  18. I would be retired living comfortably in southern Az. Building models ..only when i didnt feel like walking out to the garage to work on one of several 1/1 cars. As far as the hot women.....i already have one of those so im good.
  19. Ok. Smarty pants. What was installed from mopar on all the 65 RO and WO Race Hemi cars.. Aka drag car packaged versions. Its my understanding it was NOT the stock cast iron manifolds
  20. These are the style Mopar installed on every Hemi equipped Dodge and Plymouth in 1964 and 1965 . The 1st inch or so is a cast iron upper flange with steel tubes welded on . Not impossible to find today, but not exactly growing on trees either. Most were discarded early on in lew of actual steel tube aftermkt headers.
  21. Those are what the Mopar world refer to as the Tri-Y manifolds. To the best of my knowledge they were never installed on a Mopar production line car from the factory. EXTREMELY rare to find today
  22. Thanks, this one has a lower vinyl top mldg,,,,but no texture to the roof of any kind
