Holy smokes. I love it, even though its not a subject i usually give much attention to . But WOW..... Now I want one

I've bought most all the late 50s to mid 60s curbside style kits made back then. So.... now would be a good time to release a few of them, But I'm not holding my breath,,,as I doubt those tools even exist today. Personally I would love to see maybe a 59 Olds or Pontiac based off the 59 Chevy Impala kit tool ( if thats possible ) Or maybe a 58-59 Desoto based off the 57 Chrysler 300 tool

Well, I know its not a huge sale, but make them and I'll take the 1st ten right out of the box. as well as a few sets of hemi carbs, probably even a few sets of max wedge carbs -

How about some plain old AVS carbs ? -
WOW. I'm amazed how well this one polished out. Spent maybe just over an hour. and have probably 2/3rds of the body wet sanded and polished. A LOT of the graininess is gone ( some if it is in the base coat and I cant do anything about it. ) but the shine is amazing. I can actually tell what kind of bulb is in my office room light. I LOVE this color ,,but its tough to get to show the true color on the PC. I've added a picture of the car I'm using as inspiration.

What did you see on the road today?
gtx6970 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A nice looking 1968 Coronet R/T hardtop. -
Thanks all. When i stumbled on a 1.1 in this color right after the kit was reissued. I knew i had to have it. Steve. I doubt it wil be anywhere near your quality.......but i may wet sand it and put a couple more clear coats on it before polishing. (there are 2 on it now)

Pretty good idea on how to get more life out of the Little Red Wagon tool. I wish they would do something similar with the CMG car. There is some many of them out there, You cant hardly give them away at a show/swap meet. I bought a bunch of them at Ollies this summer for I think less than $8 ea

Got a little free time over the weekend . And I have had this one in primer for months. So I thought I would get her in paint while the weather was nice. I had some air brush issues . So its nice a super slick as I would have liked,,,But not near as grainy as these pics make it out to be in person . I think for the most part it'll polish out good enough for my shelf. (pics make it look so much worst than it appears in person) Color is called Light Iris metallic. I had it mixed locally and had them use the finest metallic they had ,,,And I like it. Interior and chassis are both already painted( black ) . Build will be all box stock , right down to the white walls and 8 lug wheels

thanks Steve. Im going to pick up some of the pointed Q tips this weekend and try them on the next one. Im trying to get about 4 or 5 bodies painted before winter

Yep, same holds true to the 1 - 1 world. There are exceptions obviously. but unless something changes we are the dyeing breed. I just turned 57 and am more into models now then ever before. But I have more disposal income ,,,and once I retire ( 9 years 10 months 2 weeks ,,,not that I'm counting ,,lol ) I have a huge stash to work on

I've tried the foil under paint now 3 times. with mixed results. On one it worked perfectly. On the other 2,,,not so well. My 1st one I let the car dry a few days and just took a T shirt with rubbing compound and rubbed like crazy ( its black so I didn't have to worry about metallic issues . ) It looks killer . My other 2,,not as nice as I would like. The other 2 were metallic so I cant do it the same way as above. I Just painted a 65 Grand Prix body yesterday in a Light Iris metallic and once reasonably dry I tried the Tooth pick dipped in thinner method , then rubbing it off with a dry but clean cotton T shirt method, and ended up with a slight shadow around the emblem from the foil glue . I like the idea and want to keep trying it that way,,,but to me is frustrating. Maybe I'm doing it wrong. I'm thinking on my next one I may try just a polishing cloth ,,like maybe a 12000 grit and see what that gets me . ( I have a 64 Belvedere in primer now that will be simple gloss white so my plan is its next )

Looking real good. And so did the Vikings btw. Mike Zimmer definitely has the defense hitting on all cylinders -
I went ahead and picked one of these up. I have to say ...im impressed with the overall body proportions. Glad to see the door scallops get subdued down some( the scallops on the 68-69 body were much to pronounced ) The grille is nice. Interior details look good. Im for one glad to see the body done without the door scoops

SOME NEW GOOCHE DECAL INFO.......
gtx6970 replied to AC Norton's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Got any kind of a list ? -
IMO, a delay is ok. Of a few days . But IMO when I order something and I get a tracking number I expect that item to be shipped within a reasonable time frame. 4 to 6 weeks is NOT an acceptable time frame

I REALLY want the boat ,, maybe even a few of them the rest,,,,,,,,,,meh. Think I'll pass

How did you get started in model building?
gtx6970 replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ive always been something of a gear head car guy. As early as i can remember to about age 8 or 9 maybe (would be about 1968 or so) One day while walking around in Sids Elsmere Drugs in Elsmere Ky . I had allowance money burning a hole in my pocket..... i spotted a model kit . I bought it,,,,, and have been hooked ever since. Sadly i dont remember the kit...but i think it was a plane kit. Once i started building cars...its pretty much the only thing I've built since -

gtx6970 replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Oh come one, triple green . that car is screaming for the deluxe hubcaps ( same as whats in the Revell 69 Dart kit ) OR a set of recall wheels out of the MPC 69 Barracuda kit. ( i have extras of each of you want / need them )
