  1. Anyone know of a quality hood to correctly replicates the six pack hood on the 1970 Sox and Martin Cuda. The kit version doesn't do it for me . Or am I going to have to make my own
  2. I would rather not do any spray painting at any temps where I need a coat on to do so. Its why I do all my spray painting bodies in the fall when its upper sixties - low seventies with low humidity. On average I'll paint maybe a half dozen or more cars for the winter bench time ( I get very little modeling time during spring / summer months ) I've got 3 painted now and have ideas on 2 more If I have to do any spray painting the winter, such as maybe an interior or chassis ,I'll step out in the garage then head to the laundry room downstairs to let it dry.
  3. Thanks Steve, I had to add some blocks to raise the rear end up a touch as it sat far to low in the rear. But here is some final mockup pics. Engine is painted and goes in today maybe. Then its button up a few details and I should finally have it done this weekend . I'm so glad I picked this color. It looks exactly what I had in my inspiration picture . Thanks for looking in
  4. Not my usual era of interest. But this looks killer. I might even have to pick one up for myself
  5. Just about have the interior wrapped up. . Decided to forgo the embossing powder / carpet trick. with it being black and in a hardtop you cant see it once its all together. Doing all the bare metal foil work on the door panels was not fun btw
  6. i've seen a few Mopar B bodies with the inner fenders removed but they were cars with a fiberglass front end. With no inner fenders there nothing to bolt the exterior fender to
  7. Cool. I dont think ive ever seen one of these built
  8. NOW we're talking. Bring on the big boats
  9. Nice. I applaud your efforts bigtime Having been up close to the Rosenbaurer brand trucks these things are HUGE
  10. Under the weather or not. Your easily one of the best builders on here. I love just about every subject you take on
  11. Interior pic. I've painted if a bunch of different color combinations. But have decided to go with black and orange
  12. Patience grass hopper. I painted the Vettes interior tub maybe 4 or 5 times before deciding on a color for it. I had it a couple different variations of tans,,, then it was all white, then white with orange . Went with a semi gloss black with orange inserts on the seats and door panels I have to repaint the dash to match . then its embossing powder for the carpet then start final assyembly
  13. Worked on the grille for a while, and I think it turned out ok. Unfortunately I had to deal with those ugly chrome headlights again. I stumbled on the fact that if you dont shake the small testors bottles of chrome silver , and if you just barely dip a brush in it you get this super super thin clear silver out of it. I think they look pretty good. Once its all dry I'll put some clear Elmers glue on them to give it some depth. The rest is just testors silver and then some blackwash in the grille grates and wiped off the ridges to highlight the chrome Let me know what you think.
  14. I have to admit. The color is really nice. I think my application could have been better. to be honest I think I put the base coat on a little dry and IMO the metallic doesn't look right to me in person. But overall so far Im real happy with it. Now I have to figure out how to replicate the wood grain on the dash and console ?
  15. Well, I had some bench time this morning till it warmed up in the garage ( 46 degrees out sucks ) I managed to finish up the BMF I had started a month or so ago on this one.
  16. I use engine enamel on every model kit engine I build . Usually shoot it directly on bare plastic. Maybe one or 2 list mist coats , then once tacky I'll lay a final wet coat on then walk away for a few days All these are either Duplicolor or Plasticoat engine enamels straight out of the can
  17. I use duplicolor paints all the time though. Just use a less volatile primer
  18. only the revell / monogram version. Its 1.24th scale Johan made one back in 1970....good luck finding one though. It was 1.25th scale
  19. I was out and about today. And was close to my local Ollies. So , I stopped in and found they've updated the model kits table. Bought all 4 of the Candies and Hughes Cuda funnycars. ,,,while I was there .
  20. agreed That stuff is to hot for stryene
  21. The Vanke 1972 Duster annual. Still has its state of the art underhood details
  22. About 5 or so years ago I bought a bunch of old drag car built ups off Ebay. Originally I had plans to take them all apart and redo them to my standards. Unfortunately, during some moving around this summer I dropped the Schartman car and it went everywhere. So while I had a little time yesterday morning I decided its sat on a box in pieces long enough. I put the Comet back nearly the exact same way I got it. ( the thread for spark plug wiring didnt survive the crash . ) And I had my chance to rebuild the Comet to my standards after it was scattered all over the basement floor. But I just couldn't do it. I even reinstalled those ugly green headers back as originally built. I'd love to find another one to build to my tastes. But alas its eluded me so far. Otherwise I've done nothing but give them a good cleaning and waxing then back in the case as is . Lord knows how long they've been built but my guess is a since the kits first came out. They have knicks and scuffs in them and the decals are far from perfect. And to be honest these pics make them look better then they actually are. These 2 are probably the best of the lot. ,,,,the others need more work and will most likely get stripped and redone at some point. Thanks for looking in
  23. Thanks all. Its probably one of my favorite builds to date. Definitely in my top 5 . And the my 1st truly successful attempt at foil under paint on the emblems. Thanks again, I truly appreciate it
