  1. Bud, Mine is an AMT kit, I built maybe 20 years ago or more. If you want/ need a Johan 69 Roadrunner .,,,,, just ask. I just ck'd I have 2 mint in box , another one in the box but tinkered with and 2 builders ( one is an original ,,which is going no where ) Just say the word ,,,,, I'm sure we can work out something.
  2. We could be twins,,,,, from a different mother......and father
  3. I'll bet within 6 months ( if that long ) we'll see a complete yet stock 1970 Charger . So I doubt its cost effective for a caster to do.
  4. Oh man, thats just plain wicked cool. Love the stance, the wheels , color ,, all of it
  5. Been prepping and painting bodies the past month or so. getting ready for winter months assembling . I've got 2 or 3 painted for winter projects and another 2 maybe 3 that I want to paint. . Painted one but I like it and cant put it up till winter so have been building it now.
  6. Love it, all of it. And the overall color scheme nails it bigtime for me. My only flaw is like Ron said the emblems are to low. . I know you can do better. So send this one to me and I'll dispose of it properly . Yep, I'm such a nice guy
  7. Decals are done. I thought about all the lettering but think it looks right as it sits. Actually body is done. Working on engine and chassis next
  8. same as yours the twin blower. Started of as a just paint the body and put it away for a winter time build. But I cant leave it alone. I think I'll have it done by the weekend . Thanks for the note about the rear tires. On a test fit I thought the chassis was going up to high inside the body and the rear tires hit the wheel openings . So I added some shims to the top of the rear wheel houses to bring it down a smidge. Also trimmed the inner wheel halves just a bit to bring the the tires inside the body for a cleaner look ( IMO )
  9. Thanks, I found it. Doesn't sit to bad. So I think I'll use the kits straight axle .
  10. Btw. Anyone built one of these with the straight axle setup....am womdering how high it sits that way
  11. Agreed, I really like the white accents,,,its the orange I'm not crazy about . And in person the orange interior isn't even close to the orange exterior of the car. ( its my camera ) I'm thinking I might pull the interior from a spare kit and try a light tan , or light tan and white. Not a fan of black interior especially in a convertible. Then again...once the top is on it reaaly subdues the interior down quite a bit. Decisions decisions
  12. Picked up a 1963 Oldsmobile convertible this week off a facebook group i belong to
  13. Im not a corvette guy so dont laugh. But whats the difference between a 61 and a 62 Vette
  14. Went with an orange and white interior. Not 100% sure I like it. Its duplicolor hemi orange and duplicolor white. with a mist coat of testors clear pearl on top of it. I want something bold ,,,but I'm not 100% sure this is it . Wondering it maybe a black with white ( or orange ? ) insert would be better ?
  15. Impressive is huge understatement
  16. Darn, Its one of those kits thats not real high on my want list. But I could be talked into it if in the old looking box. I like the box art for my toy room / family room downstairs. Plus I was made in 59 so its a given
  17. if u have an unbuilt 59 in the reissue small box. Id be interested
  18. 2 coats color over bare white plastic. one coat Testors wet look clear , then decals. then 2 more coats clear. I hope when fully dry its looks this shiny,,because right now after just about an hour of dry time it looks like glass.
  19. I think I've mentioned this before. But last year I was at a local model swap / show and I bought a sealed 71 RR kit for a whopping $20 . When a buddy of mine whom has industry connections seen what I had . He told me the tooling for the MPC 1971 RR kit was damaged ( how extensive he didnt know ) . And he said the chances that particular kit would be reissued is extremely unlikely . At least not without a major tooling costs to Round 2 ,,,again not likely ( my 2cents)
  20. Snake, the color is a testors one coat lacquer . Called flaming orange. #1840 The actual color has A LOT more metallic than what the cap suggests. I bought it to use on a Lawman 64 Plymouth build. But once I did a spray out / spoon test I knew its obviously not going to work for that. So I thought it would fit this build perfectly.
  21. i bought this one off ebay. I was the only bidder. Got it for the opening bid of 29.95 . i know the 63 is a little harder to find compared to the 64 version. So i was a little suprised it went so cheap for as complete it is. I like the 60 - 61 models much better and they will get done long before this one .But at least i have it
  22. Ive been wanting to build one of these since the kit was re-issued a few years ago. I just never broke down and bought one. But at $8 each at Ollies ,,,I bought 2 ,,,just for giggles . And I think this color fits the theme of the car itself really really well. These are indoors and trust me dont do the color ANY justice.
  23. Wasn't really planning to start another one. But I had the paint out for another build and found its far to much metallic for that build. BUT, I had picked up a couple of these Corvettes at Ollies discount last week . And thought it would look killer on it instead. So dug out the parts that need to be painted. Cleaned up the mold lines and such. and shot it this morning. Did the decals this afternoon. I'll put some clear on it tomorrow to . Its testors one coat lacquer in a color called flaming orange. I'll let it sit overnight then clear it tomorrow . This color POPS in the sunlight. Now, I have to decide on some bold interior to match. Thinking orange and white
  24. Agreed. I love the idea and just in awe you can pull it off. I simply do not have the patience or inclination to try this. But I love looking at it when someone else pulls it off
