Ck this one out. And I'm not a 40s car guy
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
IMO Cadzilla was more about in your face visual style / change This ones more about subtle changes with LOTS of hidden / under body upgrades. and conveniences. To be honest Cadzilla wasn't my cup of tea. But would drive the snot out of this one -

Lovin it -
This one ranks up there as one of my all time favorites. Mainly due to the simplicity of it. It went from an idea to a painted shell in under 24 hours. I bought the paint color for something else and couldn't use it. So I decide to see how it looked on this. Simply drug it out of the box, sanded the mold lines off and painted it in the morning, put the decals on later that day,,,,, and cleared the whole thing the next morning. NO buffing or polishing at all , and it laid down like glass. And is EASILY one of my best all rattle can paint jobs ever.

Thanks all. I did finish up the engine compartment. Air cleaners are just topped off with BMF and painted to look like paper elements and I tried one more time to take a better indoor pic. Its 100% done and in the case for good now. Thanks again for the comments and following along .

Found out by accident if you take testors chrome silver , don't shake it up and just barely dip the brush in you get a very thin almost clear silver color out of it ,,as shown then same clear top coat
-
Did this one in a mixture of testors white lighting and just a drip of silver. then some clear over them once dry . Ps, they are NOT as white in person as they appear here
-
Yep, Silver blue car is a tribute. the one and only original was white
-
The car you have pictured I am almost positive was a silver blue color BUT, there was also a white car
-
I went back and forth on the interior. Actually painted it like 5 or 6 times, all orange , orange and white, a couple different tans ( even a 2 tone tan ) Finally settled on the orange and black and I think it fits the car quite well. Same here I wanted POP and not the same old same old. The dash is actually painted with Testors Fiery Orange which is a slightly different shade than the body and not the same as the seat inserts just to give the interior a little bit of flare .

I did finish it yesterday but due to the actual Halloween ,,,,I couldn't take pics till this morning . Anyway ,,,,,, after a few minor setbacks and outside of a few very minor touch ups this one is done and headed to the case. I picked it up at Ollies a few weeks back and decided I needed to build one,,just for something different . Built almost 100% box stock , , Kit comes with wide whites,,,and I used them on another build . So I decided to substitute some parts box tires on the front. Painted Testors Flaming orange which is a real heavy metallic . with multiple coats of wet look clear that just shines. No polishing needed . Interior is Testors orange with Duplicolor semi gloss black . I cant decide if I want to do the BMF to the rocker trim or not,,,so for now it stays orange. If I had been thinking ahead of time I would have sanded it off like I did the rest of the trim and emblems. I like the roof in all orange so there will be no trim highlighted on it. Thanks for looking and comments good or bad more than welcome.

What color blue is on this model
gtx6970 replied to VAcountry's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
When I did mine many years ago. ( its an old R+R Resin body on a Johan kit ) I taped it off and painted all the blue . I think I used Testors dark blue enamel (non metallic ) -
WOW Love it

The slicks on these Lindberg kits are not correct for a true 64 SS car. Let me ck I 'MIGHT ' have an extra Johan set I can spare. Or your best bet is Speed City Resin as mentioned. As far as the red color, ?????? I'm still looking as well. I have the same car in process( body is already painted in white ) I'm thinking I may mask it off and just airbrush some clear red over the white and call it good

Ok, Messing with this one for a bit between games. Decided to see how a 2 tone dash would look. Opinions , Yes , No, Maybe ? Steering wheel will be detailed with silvers spokes and I'll do the embossing powder trick for carpet Already decided I didn't like all orange. and doubt I'll like all black . Handle for the pass side cove will be done with bare metal foil

Tried them once. That was all it took. Now they just go in the trash can

A correct sixpack hood for the Revell 1970 Cuda
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
i want the correct hood with the correct six pack style scoop that was on the originl sox and martin cuda. If harts parts is my only option...ill make my own -
Thanks all. I had actually stumbled on the pic of the 1/1 car before I bought the model. So when the model was released I just had to have it . I just wish my photographic skills were good enough to capture the true color I see in person. It looks killer in my case Especially the outside sunlight pics REALLY make the metallic look so much bigger than it does in person

Sorry....but I respectively dis-agree. He obviously had no trouble taking customers money for orders. If he got overwhelmed he should have cut it off until a reasonable time till to fill orders could be achieved. Taking in excess of 90 days to fill orders is un-acceptable. If he was providing a service as opposed to a product. I would be more understanding...but he's not. That said ,,,,had it been mentioned up front it MIGHT take in excess of 30 , 60 , 90 days to fill said order is another story. But my understanding is it wasn't .

Few more These last 2 probably are the best to show the true color And Yes, I know I'm missing the air cleaners. ( oddly enough they are molded in white plastic and NOT on the chrome tree ) Need to figure out to make them look like chrome instead of painted plastic . And the kit doesnt have an upper radiator hose either.

Started this one a few months back. Painted it back in September I think. Along they way I had some issues I had to decide if I was going to correct or not ( decided to leave them as is and finish it ) I'm not 100% happy with how the paint layed down. Its the recent Round2 reissue in the large flat box , molded in white. Built 100% box stock . ( I tend to loose interest if I go hog crazy with details ) I actually dug out and blew the dust off my airbrush to do this one. Painted with a base coat of Light Iris metallic I had mixed locally , then topped it with 3 coats Upol rattle can urethane clear . After a few days using my sanding pads and rubbing compounds Went to work on it tosee if I could make it where I was happy with it. And I get it to look pretty slick. Interior is simple semi gloss black from Sems with some silver and wood grain details brush painted . Chassis and engine compartment are Duplicolor semi gloss black . Engine is dupli-color Pontiac engine blue enamel. Comments good or bad more then welcome. Thanks for looking in
