same as yours the twin blower. Started of as a just paint the body and put it away for a winter time build. But I cant leave it alone. I think I'll have it done by the weekend . Thanks for the note about the rear tires. On a test fit I thought the chassis was going up to high inside the body and the rear tires hit the wheel openings . So I added some shims to the top of the rear wheel houses to bring it down a smidge. Also trimmed the inner wheel halves just a bit to bring the the tires inside the body for a cleaner look ( IMO )

Thanks, I found it. Doesn't sit to bad. So I think I'll use the kits straight axle .
-
Btw. Anyone built one of these with the straight axle setup....am womdering how high it sits that way

Agreed, I really like the white accents,,,its the orange I'm not crazy about . And in person the orange interior isn't even close to the orange exterior of the car. ( its my camera ) I'm thinking I might pull the interior from a spare kit and try a light tan , or light tan and white. Not a fan of black interior especially in a convertible. Then again...once the top is on it reaaly subdues the interior down quite a bit. Decisions decisions

Im not a corvette guy so dont laugh. But whats the difference between a 61 and a 62 Vette
-
Went with an orange and white interior. Not 100% sure I like it. Its duplicolor hemi orange and duplicolor white. with a mist coat of testors clear pearl on top of it. I want something bold ,,,but I'm not 100% sure this is it . Wondering it maybe a black with white ( or orange ? ) insert would be better ?

Impressive is huge understatement
-
Darn, Its one of those kits thats not real high on my want list. But I could be talked into it if in the old looking box. I like the box art for my toy room / family room downstairs. Plus I was made in 59 so its a given

MPC 1971 Road Runner Reissue (?)
gtx6970 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think I've mentioned this before. But last year I was at a local model swap / show and I bought a sealed 71 RR kit for a whopping $20 . When a buddy of mine whom has industry connections seen what I had . He told me the tooling for the MPC 1971 RR kit was damaged ( how extensive he didnt know ) . And he said the chances that particular kit would be reissued is extremely unlikely . At least not without a major tooling costs to Round 2 ,,,again not likely ( my 2cents) -
Snake, the color is a testors one coat lacquer . Called flaming orange. #1840 The actual color has A LOT more metallic than what the cap suggests. I bought it to use on a Lawman 64 Plymouth build. But once I did a spray out / spoon test I knew its obviously not going to work for that. So I thought it would fit this build perfectly.
-
i bought this one off ebay. I was the only bidder. Got it for the opening bid of 29.95 . i know the 63 is a little harder to find compared to the 64 version. So i was a little suprised it went so cheap for as complete it is. I like the 60 - 61 models much better and they will get done long before this one .But at least i have it

Ive been wanting to build one of these since the kit was re-issued a few years ago. I just never broke down and bought one. But at $8 each at Ollies ,,,I bought 2 ,,,just for giggles . And I think this color fits the theme of the car itself really really well. These are indoors and trust me dont do the color ANY justice.
-
Wasn't really planning to start another one. But I had the paint out for another build and found its far to much metallic for that build. BUT, I had picked up a couple of these Corvettes at Ollies discount last week . And thought it would look killer on it instead. So dug out the parts that need to be painted. Cleaned up the mold lines and such. and shot it this morning. Did the decals this afternoon. I'll put some clear on it tomorrow to . Its testors one coat lacquer in a color called flaming orange. I'll let it sit overnight then clear it tomorrow . This color POPS in the sunlight. Now, I have to decide on some bold interior to match. Thinking orange and white

1968 Shelby Green Hornet-----Update! 8/4/18
gtx6970 replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Agreed. I love the idea and just in awe you can pull it off. I simply do not have the patience or inclination to try this. But I love looking at it when someone else pulls it off -
Won this one off ebay over the weekend. Hopefully when it arrives its a nice as it looked in the listing pics. Body unpainted, all emblems intact . Interior painted but actually looked decent as is . Probably just clean it up and put it in the case for later down the road Original 1963 Mercury S55 convertible. I can find 64s but seems the 63 is a tad tougher to come up with. and This one completes my want list for the Mercury convertible builders . Now have them all 1959 to 63 . I thought about keep going to get newer model years but I simply have to stop somewhere or I will run out of space sooner than later.

MPC 1971 Road Runner Reissue (?)
gtx6970 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
And for the record. I have a couple unbuilt 71s so I may not buy one of them IF it gets reissued. I would much prefer a 72 I heard a while back the tool was damaged and there for no chance it was coming back out -
MPC 1971 Road Runner Reissue (?)
gtx6970 replied to 1972coronet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
same bumper, different grille, tail lights and side markers. Overall same car. And yes, less compression but also a different way horsepower was factored. so in all honesty they were not far off from the previous year -
Chrome trim or painted trim?

Coffee stir sticks , or toothpicks in a pinch if its to be airbrushed. I'll use the same AND shake them if its to be brushed on
