When I was over his place a few weeks back , I asked where he gets his inventory . His reply was probably 90% of the items Ebay seller Floyd426 sells , he bought either as a complete kit or part of an entire collection . He purchased off of Ebay. So a buyer who wanted it whole already had there chance to buy it as such . .Like it or not,,,,, Anyone can call it anything they want. BUT,,,IMO , his cash = he is free to do with it as he wishes . I have no problem with it in any way shape or form

Just in case it matters to you. But the hood is 1968, If not Carry on 1969 has the vents open towards the top

Excellant,,,,,,,makes me wish there was a 1/25th scale version. I have a soft spot for the brass era cars. Especially the odd balls . And I never even knew Bianchi existed before this . Well done sir .

Those who love rebuild old model kits
gtx6970 replied to Nova-ss's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If theres a site dedicated to restoring old kits, I dont know abut it . I started getting interested in old annuals a year or so ago . Prior to that it was drag cars and Mopar factory stock builds . It lite a fire in me when Steve ( posted above ) restored a 58 Sunliner kit last year. That one got me thinking I wanted some of the old kits. Unfortunately its snowballed just a wee bit .. Started off looking for the 1959 annauls ( year I was born ) Then I bumped it to annauls from 1958 thru 1961 , And now even thats bumped slighty to the 1963s . All of them are convertibles ( I like open cars ) I started with a built but unpainted 1958 Bonneville convertible kit. It felt pretty cool working with plastic that was older than I am . And I am extremely happy with the finished product. And when I took it to a local car show this past summer to show a friend of mine who is into Pontiacs,,,,,,. I turned down some pretty serious cash for it . -
Steve, Have you considered the wheels from the Polar Lights 65 Dodge ? My 65 convertible kit is still on my desk and I just stumbled onto a set of the hubcaps from a PL 1965 Coronet parts kit ,,,so I did some digging on the net ,,,,,,,and I am pretty sure they were the same between body lines that year

Agreed, I've seen the ' looking for a sucker ' sellers a few times and just chuckle a bit when I do . Although I have no problem paying up to get something I REALLY want but i am not going to get to crazy . Steve, I' have been casuallly keeping an eye on some of the early pickups ( I keep telliing my toy fund I need some of them,,,but it keeps telling me NO I don't ) But decent builders run in the $50 - $60 range and up depending on whos after it ,,,IMO Not likely an unbuilt will be under $100

Next release of Revell '70 Cuda; any update information?
gtx6970 replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
For the rescord, i dont hate the 1970 Cuda kit .I have 2 of them and was planning on buying multiples, untill I saw the body errors . And the enterily wrong hood scoop has kept me from buying the sox and martin version completely I just think they missed the mark . But with some minor tweaking it can easily be a top shelf kit . -
I try to buy unpainted as much as I can. Its those that seem to be the most common for having the custom add on stuff glued to it. Thats when I go looking for pics of the 1/1 cars . To see what the chances are the custom stuff has done damage to hard to repair areas ( 59 Galaxie is one to avoid thats had the skirts glued to it making the areas behind the rear wheels difficult to repair ) I've been extremly lucky so far and the ones I have where the custom stuff is on them, they'll be relativly easy fixes . My recent 59 Vette builtup may be the exception. I may have to replace the decklid on it from where the spare tire was glued on ruining the emblem . When it comes to stripping them.I've used Wesleys bleach white, brake fuild and Easy Off oven cleaner all with good results. Never had a brittle plastic issue to date

Same here. I have several old annuals and most of them needs something ( usually hubcaps ) I know I can probably get the parts thru Modelhaus ,,,,But I would MUCH rather buy an original stryene piece if at all possibile. In the past 2 months I have bought 4 sets of original hubcaps off Larry ( aka Ebay seller Floyd426 ) and have less than $10 in them all . I also needed a rear valance for an MPC 1971 Cuda kit. Bought it off ebay for $3 . I would much rather buy pieces than another whole kit only to rob what I want out if it then take my chances I can get my money back out it . When I start looking for a particular kit. I try my best to buy a complete one,,,but most of them usually go WELL above my budget. So I wait and keep an eye out for a flawed kit, even if I buy it flawed and then have to buy a part or 2 ( a set of hubcaps as an example) I end up with it for well under my original budget in the long run,,,,it just takes patience. I'm not buying kits to resell someday , I am buying to have something to do when I retire in the next 5 to 10 years. So I have plenty of time to fill my 'want list' .

What kit can this motor be found in?
gtx6970 replied to Ridge Rider's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Looks like a mish mash of parts ,,,thinking maybe mostly a monogram 340 from the street machine version of the challenger TA ( with the wrong valve covers ) http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2051541.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xmonogram+challenger.TRS0&_nkw=monogram+challenger&_sacat=220 -
Excellant job, ,definitly a great looking build of one of my favorite floppers . I built the 1970 version using the Johan challenger kit. ( they used a different chassis from 1970 and early 71 car versus late 71 and later ) I plan to do the 71 version like this one as well as the Chi Town Hustler car using this kit . I'vew already used this kit to build Mr Norm , Bob Banning and the Soapy Sales cars . Definitly one of my favorite kits One of my builtups has a front bumper ( no idea where its from ) If someone can cast copies I might loan it out to do so

Next release of Revell '70 Cuda; any update information?
gtx6970 replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The errors in the kit might have something to do with that. The wheel lip flares and the wrong body line down the side of the car just kill it for me . Which is a shame as I have wanted a new 1970 Cuda kit for a LOOOOOOONG time. Thankfully I hung onto my original issue builtups I have -
Not to throw fuel into the fire. But as a former Ebay seller . Theres always the buyer who claims they never got said item ( be them stateside or international makes them no difference ,,, trust me it happens ) BTW, I just ckd the USPS website. its $25.75 to mail a 2 lb pkg to the UK and thats keeping it under a 12" size box and 1st class international
