Is this too many models
gtx6970 replied to gray07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We think exactly alike. ,,,except I'm 56 . And I have no interest in scaleing down my stash because I know I'll never build them all. They're mine,,,all mine and mine alone. When the time comes I see my wife selling off the unbuilt common stuff. But I have serious doubts her or my 2 girls will let the built stuff go anywhere. ( both my girls love old cars ,,,and each want one of there own someday. ) -

Yes, at least most of it. The entire drivetrain is from the parts box ,,,,,maybe 68 Roadrunner kit.? ( It needed it to be a 4 spd ) . Headers I think are Revell 68/69 Charger. -
Help. - Indentify some Mopar crossram intakes
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
MPC parts is a good possibility. I have a bunch of the MPC 68/69 Barracudas around here in various stages of completion. Will ck an unbuilt one later today to ck . -
Mail man just dropped it off and I had to just open it up for a look inside. Near mint unbuilt 1960 Edsel convertible kit. Nothing touched or messed with . Only thing missing was the custom hubcaps. Which is not a problem,,,my intention from the get go was to build it A perfect new canvas to start from. This one gives me all 3 Edsel convertible kits. This one and my 59 are both unbuilt,,,,,,for now. My want list is getting smaller and smaller . I'm down to maybe a dozen kits I am after. I know my toy fund will be glad when the list is complete.

Car song builds ?
gtx6970 replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We think alike. That was the very 1st thought that popped in my head after reading the OP title -
Thats what I was thinking. No way would I show my 1st one now

Ok, I did some digging this morning looking for Mopar cross-ram intake manifolds . And found these. I am pretty sure the 2 on the right are AMT . one on the left,,,NO idea the 4 in the middle I think are Johan or are they ? ,,,but there are 2 different styles ??????? I've looked thru all my Mopar Johan kits and NONE have a cross-ram in them,,,which has me thinking Was there ever a cross-ram intake in a Johan Mopar kit ? The more I think about it,,,I don't think there was

Ouch . Sold for over $800. Thats pretty good money for a readily avail kit. I watch his stuff from time to time . And the ones that usually bring top dollar are resin and/or conversion builds . I saw one where he converted a Missing link 2 door LTD to a 4 door ( very well done btw ) It sold for over $2200 . He had a R+R Ford wagon a while back that went over $1500. Where as a 60 Ford Sunliner annual build he did, barely broke into the $300 range . So imo its the oddball stuff that brings top dollar And Steve, I firmly agree your builds are easily as nice. If I could afford it, I would offer crazy money for the 58 Sunliner you did last year. That car is the one that got me started looking for old annuals. ( gee thanks buddy )

Love it,

Trickery with the camera....? I thought it was kit molded in clear . Very well done . To cool......love it

Same here. and that is the reason I stopped buying up 1/.18th scale diecast. Space is/will/has become an issue . . I have a case with probably over 100 builds in it, plus a few other cases with another 50 or so. And I am rapidly running out of room .Either I start selling some( not likely ) or find more display cases (most likely )

sweet, I like the trans dipstick

I have extras of the hemi headers.....might even have a couple extra intakes. Not aware of anyone copying the exhaust

Had a little bench time this morning ,,before going out to shovel snow. I have 2 pictures of the inside of this car, one shows a roll bar, one doesn't. So I decided to add one , also changed the pedals to reflect the 4 speed change. Also got the engine wired up with a MAD distributor. then did a test fit to make sure the headers clear the clear ( I think the headers are from the Revell 68 Charger kit ) . The molded in under hood wiring is just highlighted with a black sharpie, quick simple and easy . If I am lucky this one will be done by the end of the week -
Yep, as far as I know the Color Me Gone kit was the only altered wheelbase charger produced. To be honest I think the chassis from the AMT 67 Cougar funnycar is pretty close. ( I have them both and could ck if wanted ) Problem is I am almost positive the interior tins are very unique to that kit

Bizarre question time.
gtx6970 replied to JustanotherKiwi's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My bench is 4 ft from the ground.so my chair is a taller padded type with arm rests, it swivels and raises or lowers as needed . Next to my lighted magnifier, its the best investment I've made for modeling . I've sat there for probably 2 hours with no issues. Although getting once in a while is a good idea to just keep the circulation going in your feet and legs .plus grab parts, tools , paint, or refreshments. -
Mail man dropped this one off Saturday. I honestly don't think the car has ever had any paint on it. and 2 very small glue marks where it had something glued to the top of the trunk lid ( in the flat area so it;ll be a super easy fix ) . Chrome is near mint ,,But I do need to find a hood ornament for it . This one will stay pretty close to the top of the to do pile,,maybe later his year. .
