  1. Anyone get one of these yet. Am curious what the decal sheet looks like
  2. A small update on this one. . I tried the bare metal foil under paint trick,,, and I am amazed it turned out this good . The emblems were almost non existant ,,,yet after a light going over with a tooth pick dipped in laquer thinner,,then just a light going over with rubbing compund , I can actually read the lettering sitting on the desk . It sold me and may do them all this way from now on . Still undecided on how to do the bumpers ,,,alclad spazstick or send them out for plating. Need to pick up a polishing kit to finish out the paint work,,then the job of bare metal floil begins. I am trying to take my time on this one,,but its looks so good its making it tough to put down.. comments welcome .
  3. Thanks all. I was worried about BMF sticking to it after polishing .. I picked up a lighted mirror yesterday so this weekend out comes the polishing materials and BMF supplies I have a 58 Pontiac and a 55 Chrysler 300 to do ,,both cars are black and would really look a lot better if I can get them glass smooth
  4. It sure looks good . I would love to see someone make a 1958 300D conversion for this kit
  5. Before or after polishing the paint. ? Or does it matter one way or the other its laquer if it matters I've got 2 bodies painted that are going to require A LOT of BMF work and I would like to polish the paint out some to get a smoother finish .
  6. to funny, thats the exact same thought i had . as for the tattoo no thanks
  7. I have a mint Fred Cady sheet to do the 1969 Coronet Superbee and the R/T stripes doubt I'll ever use it .
  8. I tried Bi-focals once,,hated them and i'm not going back there . I do wear glasses mainly to drive and such,,but usually take them off when doing closeup work or reading or at the model bench . . But lately even reading fine print on paint cans is getting tough Going out this afternnoon and may stop by hobby lobby and/or Micheals to see whats avail
  9. Maybe its just because I am getting older. But I've finally come to the conclusion I need one of them fancy lighted maginifier thingys . Attempting to do some bare metal foil work this morning and I am having a hard time seeing it close up enough to get good clean edge. So , I am looking for ideas . Which one do you have ,,,and why is it better than the rest . I am thinking the one that you wear like a ball cap ( for mobility issues ) . Or is the desk mounted variety better ?
  10. I use the MAD Prewired dists exclusively. For $5......Avail in choices of wire and cap color. They simply can't be beat .
  11. I thought it was the real thing when I looked at it . I can only imagine the time it takes to build something like this
  12. I like them all. From OE factory stock to full on modern / updated drivers. 'IF' ,,,,, I build another car . It will be all old on the outside and all modern underneath. Including a modern A/C system At my age I no longer feel the need to have nothing but lots of horsepower and yet little to no brakes to stop it with .
  13. I've used both Duplicolor and Upol clears over Duplicolor base coats and no issues with either one.
  14. WOW,,,,,,, VERY nice. And the older I get the more I appreciate the earlier cars , Well done , And from 1979,, Even I dont have any unbuilt stuff that old ......
  15. Headrests were an option. Till Jan 1st 1969 when they became standard because of a federal law
  16. Ok, Interior is done. White is duplicolor white laquer that dried in a nice very low gloss. Floor is done ( although you cant tell in the pics ) is covered in black embossing powder . I tried my best to highlight the dash buttons and gauges. and they look,,,,,,,ok . Flowed in a dab of thinned flat black on the rear console chrome plate to replicate the 1/1 Chassis about done. Then it on to BMF on the body and start assembling the pieces . Hope to finish it by the weekend .
  17. I have a bunch of the AMT 1962 Impalas and if those are the wheels you need . pm me an address and they're yours
  18. Just to bring this one back up. Anyone know a good paint match for this ? I want the so called ' blueish white ' I have been wanting to build one of these but the color has me stalled I was thinking paint it a pearl white with just a touch of blue mixed in the clear ?
  19. an hour or so in a super clean bath works wonders. then just rinse with warm water . I made the mistake of trying to primer / paint a resin body before cleaning and it fisheyed so bad it was horrible
  20. Looks pretty good. Is this kit even still avail ? I built one for my sister in law years ago ( like maybe 20 ? ) And yes it was a very nice kit
  21. Ya gotta have faith bro,,, If anyonce can make this one shine its you. I have faith in ya . The lack of interior detail and those huge floor plugs are why I stopped on my Bonneville. I am undecided if I add aftermkt parts or not . So thought best to put it down and work on something else for a while
  22.
