Yes. Got everything to build the 59 stock. The silver 60 is really nice and I like the color combo...so I will leave it exactly like it is. And I think I did ok price wise

1960 Ford Promotionals question
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I thought it looked like something was wrong in the ft fender. The visor didn't bother me at all. But the metal chassis was throwing me off and it definitely wasn't as warped as most promos I've seen from the era. I decided to pass and find an annual kit builtup instead. -
1960 Ford Promotionals question
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
This is the car I am looking at. The metal chassis has me wondering whats up. In the pictures I cant make up my mind if the left fender has warp to it or not. It certaintly seems straight down the sides and the body doesnt have the huge curl in the middle of it like most I've seen. But every other one I've looked at has a detailed plastic chassis http://www.ebay.com/itm/351340348215?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT -

1960 Ford Promotionals question

We're factory promos metal chassis or detailed plastic chassis cars. The one I'm looking at is a convertible with a metal chassis. And shows no signs of warping -
Brutal Grand National
gtx6970 replied to Quick GMC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ugly, but I'll bet its fast. Buddy of mine has one , mostly stock with just an upgrade hair drier, fuel system and alcohol injection and with the boost dialed up and I think its a 10.90 car. Those cars were impressive box stock -

It's the moebius kit.

I want to go on record this has to be the best engineered kit I have ever worked with . Intructions need a bit of work, But the kit itself is impressive . Anyway,,,, this is a replica of a friend of mines actual car. His birthday is next month ,,so when we meet up next I'll present to him. 1st the actual car I was attempting to replicate. Outside of an exterior repaint back in the early eighties this car is pretty much original. So its a pretty correct un-messed with car and makes a great 1st impression when you see it in person. He has owned the car since about 1979 give or take a year or so. About 2 years ago , he finally gave in and put a set of wide whitewall radial tires on it. Which makes it so much more comfortable to drive, which he does do on a regular basis,,, weather permitting. And the build. which I really enjoyed . Its all built 100% box stock Body is done with rattle can black laquer with a rattle can urethane clear,,,slighty rubbed out . Interior is all testors model masters enamels . I'll get some better pics of the engine compartment and underside maybe tonight . ( Posting these pics ,,,I just realized I need to put the decals on the rear quarter panels ,AND install the rear shocks on the suspension ) Comments of all kinds welcome.

1/24 Revell '70 Plymouth Superbird
gtx6970 replied to Mr. Moparman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Birds were avial with 14" wheel in either the 5 spoke road wheel or the silver rallye wheels ( both has trim rings as standard equipment ) 15" rallye wheel were standard on Hemi car,but optional on the others . I am about 99% sure ,,,,,, a plain steel wheel was NOT avail or offered with any kind of hubcap choice Bucket seats or bench were avail,,but the only interior colors avail were black or white . As just a general info, ALL superbirds had a black vinyl top, no exception and ir-regardless of exterior color choice. -

Agreed Having first hand experiance with the subject IMO, helps you find and notice flaws others cant see. or pick up on right off the bat if at all. I am a mopar guy at heart and always will be . To me the 70 Cuda had major flaws even before it was released ( the 2 scoop hood is one major one ) I can spot the horrible wheel lips and over sized tail lights right off the bat as well as the wrong body line in the rear quarter panel . And yet,,,To my eye the wagon looks killer and I WILL build one. To others its junk. -

I can certaintly appreciate the effort it takes to do these . But roundy round car stuff is of no interest to me . I am more of a early 60's to early 70s straight line fan myself. But I didnt want it to go un-noticed or appreciated for your efforts. -
Recommendations for enamel clear coat
gtx6970 replied to berr13's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I used Testors enamel clear on a build years ago . ( blue and white car.) And beside a recent build all white car its definitly yellowed big time. I'll not use it again. The past few years I have been using Upol urethane clear ( its tall rattle can ) straight out of the can ,,,I'm not an airbrush user unless I absolutly have to So far I've used it on testors enamels and laquers, Duplicolor, and cheap hardware store paints with good results. All straight out of a rattle can. This a black laquer ( not sure the brand ) with Upol clear,,and a very light polishing. -

Didn't even have to click on the link and I knew it was that black Valiant. I've seen the video before and that car is insane. There is a black 1962 Dodge ( maybe its a Plymoth ? ) out there thats similar on the sanity level -
Looks almost pink on my monitor ?
