Selling your builds?
gtx6970 replied to Dragfreak's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I watched this one. I have seen some builds crack the 1k mark several times in the past few months Yet some sit unsold for 29.95 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1958-Buick-Limited-2-Dr-Hardtop-Coupe-Pro-Built-1-25-Modelhaus-Resin-/291422712853?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43da25b415&nma=true&si=jrTvUAIR34Kx%252B%252BwpmxNVkPwngWI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 -
Selling your builds?
gtx6970 replied to Dragfreak's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hoping to get really good money out of builtups is very hit or miss ( usually miss ) Made the mistake of selling off a bunch a few years ago when I needed room......I am about out of room once again,,,this time I'll just get another display case -
If it's a metal chassis plate,,its a dealer promo. If its warped , its a dealer promo.

Chances are a reseller of collector kits IS selling online . Setting up at a show / swap meet is just a secondary approach. You would be suprised at how many buyers would much rather pick ip up a look it over before paying out several hundreds of dollars on a single kit ( mself included ) As far as HOW much profit he makes,,,,,, is somewhere in between his hope to get price and his buyers willing to pay price.

Cool thread, Although I've had an interest in these cars to build.. I can certaintly appreciate the effort it took to make the accomplishments they did. I've seen the Goldenrod a few years when it was making the rounds on the show car circuit...that thing is tiny ,,,but looooooong

Wow. Very cool. I just picked up a 60 Lincoln for myself this past weekend . ( yes its a convertible) I'll be watching this one closely

Thats funny, true,,,,,,but still funny.

What hemi would work in 1/24 Superbird?
gtx6970 replied to Mr mopar's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I realize that...but the problem is if you put a 1/25th scale Hemi in there it looks way to small ( been there - done that ) -
I know a guy locally that does quite well doing it.,,,,,,he parts out anything from old annuals to modern kits If there is a market for , I so go for it.. Its called free enterprise. . and is no different than doing the same thing with 1/1 cars or trucks
-
No.......not really. It's the original amt annual kit. Body is near dead mint...its just the seat pattern is just barely there. And decals is going to be the best way to save it.
-
Correct. I recently bought a 1960 Impala builtup and seat pattern is almost illegible. And I really don't want to buy an entire kit. .just for a part of the decal sheet.

The Monogram 71 Cuda is the only one of the series with a Hemi in it -
Wow, just doesnt seem fitting enough I must say , you are definitly the master of these old annuals The sunlight almost washes out the color on my monitor though .

There is a chrysler instrument panel that has Speedomenter that is clear and backlit..so when I lights up at night it looks like theres nothing but numerals hovering in thin air . But for thel life of me I cant remember the application. But ,,,,,,,, I like most any late 50s or early sixties dash assemblies,,no matter the model. Although I am slightly biased to any or all of the early 60s Mopar clusters.... Especially this one

Just got home from the local swap meet. model show. Sold a few things but I felt foot traffic was way down from the last time I hit this show .So sales wasnt as good as I had hoped / expected them to be,,,especially compared to last time . I did pick up a REALLY nice 1962 Bonneville convertible. Also got two decent 1960 Lincoln convertibles, as well as a 1959 Edsel convertible. One of the Lincolns is missing the windshield frame ( glass itself is ok ) but over all looks decent ( it was cheap ) But it'll make good resell and/or trade material .

Does the new release 60 impala kit have seat upholstery pattern decals in it?
-
Been working on it as time allows. ( summer is tough for me to get model bench time in ) I think I have most of the multi piece body seams taken care of. Door seam alignment was horrible between the upper and lower sections of the body. And for the most part the entire lower seam has been rescribed in with the backside of a Xacto blade . I plan to work on finessing the body line above the rear wheel opening and where it wraps around the rear sides of the car next . Its gettin there , slowly but surely. comments of all kinds welcome.

Steve. I would hate to have your yearly bare metal foil bill. But I sure like your subject matter.
