Are We Model Hoarders?
gtx6970 replied to mrmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Although I am not buying at the rate I was a few years ago...but with somewhere in the 350-400 kit range stash ......I guess I need to get busy. -
Steve, Believe me, I thought about that. And I try my best to avoid the builds with all the custom stuff glued on. BUT,,,, I also look at whats under there . If its just a thin mldg like these cars had. Then I dont worry about it to much. On a 1959 Mercury Parklane or Ford Galaxie as an example it becomes a completely different animal. Seems like finding them without the goofy stuff added on is tough . Then I weigh the options of how much I am willing to accept at a particular price point. Before bidding on it I looked at pics of the 1/1 cars I have a feeling its not going to be a big deal ,,,,at least I hope so .Either way at the price point I think I'll be ok.

I 'm not familiar with the Firebird kit in question. But something to keep in mind if its a kit based on an old annual ,,,, the chassis rests against the interior floorpan. and the interior tub rests against the glass , so make sure the glass is in when doing your mockup

Corect, The only one that got the silver panel argent panel is the SE equipped cars wih could be a base model SE or an RT/SE ( the silver is actully a seperate piece ) All the TA's got the black paint to coincide with the black rear spoiler MOST RTs were body color ,,,but I am pretty sure some received the black paint treatment ( unless it was an SE ) -

2'n 1 kits good or bad?
gtx6970 replied to Luc Janssens's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The more thats in the box,,the more I am willing to pay for it,,,,,, as opposed to a whole seperate kit where the only difference is decals or wheels / tires . -
