An easy way to indentify the 1967 thru 1960 Barracudas is ; 1967 - no side markers of any kind, oval shaped grille no peak down the center of the hood , tail lights had a small square backup light in the center of the red lense 1968 - round side markers , similar oval shaped ft grilles with no peak in the center of the hood, taillights were a horse shoe shaped white backup light with a smaller red tail light lense in the center of it . 1969 - rectangular shaped but NON -FUNCTIONAL side marker reflectors , grille was similar to 67-68 and the had the center peak that is in the center of the hood and continues down the center between the grilles. Tail lights were a larger block shaped red lenses and the back up lights were now mounted in the lower rear valance in a chrome bezel next to the license plate assy -
This is only a guess on my part. But I think the frictions were another way for manufacturers to get more mileage out of tooling . I have been told by several higher end promo collectors/dealers and all have told me friction cars were sold in the secondary market ( not dealerships ) In MOST cases frictions differed from true dealer promos in color combinations exclusive to frictions, As an example. a true 1969 Plymouth GTX promotional will be all one color ,, ( blue with blue interior as an example ,,,, where as A friction chassis 1969 GTX will be blue exterior but will have either a white or sometimes grey interior ) I've never seen a friction chassis 1969 GTX where the exterior and interior were like colors .

1958 Bonneville annual kit - 1958 molded in the license plate areas - aka the bumpers 1968 Coronet annual kit - 1968 molded in the license plate areas - aka the bumpers

As a general rule annuals will have the model year its supposed to represent is molded into the bumpers. Obviously , there are exceptions. As an example AMT re-issued some of these annuals after the original issue date,,. Called craftsman kits/versions. In most cases they are the same kit with maybe very very minor changes

Me personally I wait 24 hours minimum before doing any sanding ,,,Then again I rarely get to the bench 2 days in a row,,so its usually MUCH longer then that

Buying kits at swap meets
gtx6970 replied to lordairgtar's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've quit trying to sell at swap meets. seems like most buyers ( especially the early birds ) just want them to flip anyway I'll have sealed kits marked at $20,,,everyone wants to buy them at less than $10. or builders at $5 and they offer $2 ,,,, no thanks . I'll donate them to some kid or something 1st Last time I set up to sell I had some little girl maybe 10 or so wanted a kit I had . When she reached for her money and all she had was $5 ( it was a ten dollar kit ) I gave her the kit ( on her promise she was going to build it ) and told her to spend her money on paint or glue . Grinning from ear to ear . and walked right down the isle and did just that . -
I'll use flat tounge depressers with the self sticking sand paper on it. both easily cut to any size or shape I need and they're cheap I like the small bladed retractable Xacto knife / pen for bare metal foil work , I think it works better going around edges and emblems than th elarger bladed versisons Like so ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-Acto-Retractable-Knife-with-Pocket-Clip-X3209-Xacto-/271969760476?hash=item3f52a934dc:g:AsMAAOSwu4BV34kQ ) Hobby Lobby carries them But,,,,,My most essential tool anymore is my lighted magnifirer

Dont hold me to this. But I think all the 65 Fury pace car convertibles had a medium blue top. ??????? Friend of mine sold the 1/1 car he had last year . But I have been looking for a builder kit to make a replica of it for a while,,,and havent found one yet within my budget . His had the blue and white bench seat interior, 383 with a 2 bbl and console auto
