  1. Steve, don't you have a new resin casting kit ? hint hint That air cleaner is a new one on me . I looked thru every Fred Cady decal sheet I have and none have the TNT decal on them
  2. I casually followed along on the build. And enjoyed the ride I am simply in awe for you guys that can do this kind of fabricating work. Well done is an understatment
  3. I like the engine in the Revell 68-69 Charger and Dart kits . As far as the 440 TNT air cleaner nameplate your on your own. I dont think even Fred Cady even made that one
  4. I'll be brutally honest. I really like the car and especially the paint work. the fan thing on the back....not so much
  5. Exactly As long as it wasn't used as a toilet,,,free is for me
  6. To make copies of something thats say,, less than an 1/8" long and MAYBE .010 to 020" thick ,,whats a good material to use. many years ago I tried the deglued BMF trick , then fill the mold with baking soda and super glue,,it didnt work out so well Its the 3 little star emlbems on the side of the club de mer I want to copy. I was thinking of pulling a mold off them with home depot silicone ,,anything I need to do to the body first to insure the silicone comesoff cleanly,,yet not effect paint coats later on ?
  7. Bob. I thought about doing just that. But with a little patience I think I can get it together with just removing the ft lower valance like shown. .....at least I really hope so. I glued the ft half of the body on this morning and will start filling seams this week....so only time will tell.
  8. You not kidding. To fill them where the ft section right in front of the doors is horrible. and I have a feeling the 3 little stars on the sides will not survive the filling and sanding work . Plus the gaps right in the middle of the doors on both sides is probably 1/32 of an inch . Hopefully I can fix it without getting disgusted and put it back in the box . I would like to do the Futura as well here soon.
  9. Well after my recent chrome ladens builds. I decided to try somethin less lfashy. This one had been in my mind for some time I needed to build it. So, that time is now. I have already done a white glue assembly mockup to see how it goes together and see where/what mods are going to be needed.( and theres are lots of them ) One is the area above the rear wheels needed some strip stryene to continue the body line around the side of the car like its supposed to be The second is the chrome trim that goes inside the lower ft nose,,,no way was that going in with the body assembled and painted.. So I cut the lower nose off the car and will put it back on once everything is painted,,,,,,,theres supposed to be a seam on the side of the nose anyway . Finally I drilled a hole in the outer center hub on one wheel so I can install the tires and wheels by sliding the axle all the way thru one into the other. In my mockup I could get all the interior pieces in with a fully assembed body,,its just a slow process. Comments or suggestions welcome. If anyone has a suggestion to fill the seam on the sides in front of the doors AND save the 3 star emblems,,, I am all ears
  10. I am sure you've seen this. I found this some time ago. I've always wanted to build this car but with the kits chassis isnt even close to the 1/1 ,,,plus my skills are WAYYYYY below what it would take to scratch build the right one. I gave up and sold the builtup I had a few years ago. But I am definitly going to watch this one come to life . That car was way cool and most liklely a one of a kind .
  11. I got one . Actual molded in white hood for the AMT 1969 Plymouth pm me an address and I'll send it out monday
  12. Let me ck tomorrow. ... I might have an amt 69 hood
  13. Ok, you made me curious. So I did a google image search for 60 Mercury Parklane ,,,,,. Turns out it had a custom insert in the grille. Took my fingernail and it popped right out and you cant tell it was ever there. I feel much better now . I dont care for the 4 bar spinner wheelcovers it has though. Are the ones on yours modelhaus pieces ? I am leaning towards this for mine not sure about an interior color though .
  14. Steve, You made me go look. Sure enough it does. But they popped right out with nearly no effort and I think the bumper is very re-usuable with new red lenses . Did I dodge a bullitt ? It looks like the backup lenses were also a seperate lens ? How about we just trade ,,,mine for yours .????? I'll pay postage both ways !!!!!!!!! You dont really like convertibles anyway right . I really like the lines of this body style . and the back bumper design is just cool . Need less to say this one is on my short list ( need to realy stock up on some BMF foil first ) The 58 Bonneville nearly wiped out a full sheet on its own
  15. Or not. . Me personally I think they're all butt ugly .
  16. Postman made me another visit this week. ( gonna have to stop this sooner or later ) Dropped of a really nice 1960 Mercury Parklane convertible builtup . It looked good in the Ebay pics but wow,, its actually better than I expected . The red is brushed painted ,,otherwise theres not a mark on the body or glass . windshield frame is nice with no cracks . This one might end on up the short list to do
  17. Thanks, I hope it goes well. I started gluing body pieces together this morning .
  18. Oh how I so would love to spend an afternoon in the drivers seat of one of those ,,
  19. Some how I seriously doubt an ' amateur ' is the correct terms for either driver. Even though I've never heard of either driver . But my guts says a true 'amateur' would not be behind the wheel of a multi million dollar historic race car at one of these events.. Either way both will be repaired and race again in the not so distance future . Sounds like both drivers walked away with nothing hurt but pride
  20. From the day I ordered them it was about 4 weeks to delivery. I worked on other builds so I was good with it. Like Steve said an unbuilt will get ugly. be it hardtop or convertible I watched 2 convertible builtups sell in the past few weeks on Ebay , one went for $110 , the other went for $145 . There was an unbuilt hardtop kit sold a few months back ,,, but I dont remember exactly what it sold for ,,I do remember it was well over $200 I just did a completed sales search on Ebay and they've sold anywhere from $50 to nearly $150 ,,just depends on who wants it at that time . If it ends in the middle of the day mid week they tend to sell much cheaper. Evenings or weekends ,,,,ya better dig a little deeper. That same theory goes for about any of these old annuals . I know my toy fund has surely taken a serious hit the past few months. And I havent bought anything newer than 1961 .
  21. Wow. All these old annuals. I can only imagine what your display case looks like. Quad tone. .......bet that was fun . But agreed looks sweet when finished
  22. Ok maybe it wasnt done. Tonight I added some shims in the rear to get the back end up off its butt.. SOOOOOOO much better now. Thanks all for the nice words, I really appreciate it.
  23. Its an original AMT plastic kit. I bought it off ebay about 3 months ago . It was builtup, but didnt appear it ever had any paint on it . Yes they are Modelhaus bumpers , head light and tail lights . I have the originals but untill I can get enough bumpers gathered up to have replated. I decided to go resin,,,and they come already chrome plated This is what it looked like when I got it .
  24. Very cool project. whats your plan for a chassis ? I wanted to do one of these someday. My pet peave is the chassis in the old MPC kit is nothing like the actual car
  25. Steve. Actually I did buy a set of them ...but I was afraid of trying to remove these from the tires. So I may change them out later. Problem is the tires on this are hard as a rock......I was afraid of causing damage to either the wheels or the tires. So I am looking for alternative tires to fit the modelhaus wheels.
