In the articles I have on this car it appears oo have been candy apple red at some point and black in others. Just not sure the time frames on when either were ran. The magazine article I have on the car calls it 'all new' and it has a black chassis. But in some pictures I have it's clearly red

How about one of the red tinted clear bodied cars. The chassis thats under this is just for mockups. I plan to build it and do the candy apple red chassis, I have pics of the car with a red chassis and and black chassis , I just think the red version will look better under the clear red body

AMT 62 Catalina 2 in 1 Review Needed
gtx6970 replied to CEKPETHO BCE's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I just built one as the beswick car from one of the earlier SD421 version. I like it and will be building another one soon . I have a custom version I bought thinking they were all the same and found out it was custom only ,,,, I'll use it for trade fodder or a parts kit only -
It's a picture I grabbed off the net. I do have a stock 1/1 mopar ft timing cover I can get some basic dimensions from if that would work
-
Good question. Where it's located and especially if it gets hidden behind a water pump hsg, the effort to get any real detail will be moot point. If it goes on a car that uses the bolt on / cam driven fuel pump I think it would be a nice detail to have, but I am biased . So my opinion may not be the one to ask.

How do you display your models?
gtx6970 replied to rmvw guy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll have to snap off a few pictures . But my case is about 5' tall, 4' wide with 2 sliding glass doors. It's not 100% dust free but it keeps them reasonably clean. My pop made for me about 5 - 6 years ago . And its full,,,,I need more room and might have to look into these Ikea cases when I get the downstairs family room finished -
Thanks, I didn't think about that one. I pulled one off the shelf and took a look, and I don't care much for it . I am going to strip the plating off of the one in the Ramcharger FED kit and see what it looks like unplated before I decide to make my own from scratch or not to send off to be copied . Thanks, I surely appreciate the offer. I have the one from the Ramcharger car, it it doesn't work as like I want it to . I'll be in touch

A corvette builders question
gtx6970 replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks all. I relayed all this info to the potential client and he's decide to kill the project. I told him of the costs involved 'just in purchasing' several long out of production kits was enough to make him cringe. I liked the idea and told him it would take a considerable amount of time,,,, i just wasn't sure of the kit availability ( I'm not a corvette fan per say) I am going to look for 1959 Vette kit to do for myself though ( year I was born ) -
I liked that , thanks for posting this it was definitely a different world back then .

Duster interior question
gtx6970 replied to mnwildpunk's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
On any white int car the dash frame, dash pad and steering column will always be black 1971- 1974 the rim of the tuff stuff wheel is black , regardless of interior color. The white int in 1971 is a fairly bright white, not a cream color The creamy off white/ bleached tan looking int colors came out approx 1973 or 74 time frame as an fyi, there were some tuff stuff steering wheels where the rim is colored to the int, but those came out about 1978 or 1979 time frame here's a bit of trivia, the black interior on a 1971 duster,,,,, it's not black. It's actually a 2 toned dark charcoal colors with the outer sections of the seats are darker than the center sections -
Speed City and Competition resin doesn't have it , just looked around on Altered States site, and don't see one there either EDIT found one in the Ramchargers dragster kit that will work just fine

SMP '59 Corvette 3-in-1 Kit ala Watson, Paint Phase 2!
gtx6970 replied to John Goschke's topic in WIP: Model Cars
My all time favorite Vette,,so I'm in. Is the SMP kit the only way to get a nice representation of a 1959 Corvette. ? I want one for myself but all I keep seeing are the AMT car but fear they are all the one with the to small headlights . -
Can you post up a picture of it ? This might be something that needs to be resin cast I didn't think about the Ramchargers FED, but it's a blown car. And I've done some digging this morning, apparently not all of the hilborn injected cars used a cam driven fuel pump. seems some( Dave Strickler car as an example) used a belt driven pump mounted like a power steering pump. The one I'm after looks like so ;
-
On a 426 Hemi thats running a Hilborn fuel injection system, there should be an aluminum ft timing cover. ribbed if I remember right . Is this cover avail in any particular kit ? Or am I going to have to make it from scratch ?

How big is your work table ?
gtx6970 replied to Fender's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
mine is an L shape - 8' long over all. 4' wide on one end and 2' wide on the smaller end ,, the wide end is 4' by 2' so that makes the thin end 6' by 2' basically I needed a 6' by 2' piece of plywood so I just took the rest and made an L shaped work bench out of it . all sitting approx 4' up on a wooden frame ACTUAL work area is approx 18" by 18" , ,,,,,,,,time for a cleanup and re-organize. Prior to and shortly after my wife and I were 1st married, I worked at the kitchen table or a small desk in the bedroom. wasn't long after that I moved to a slightly bigger desk in the spare bedroom, then same bench in a corner of the downstairs family room of our first house . NOW, I have the big bench in a bigger house . Funny things is I always seem to end up with about the same size work area
