  1. Cking in, and don't forget to do the youtube video when you fire it up
  2. Thanks all. Overall I am pretty happy with it. Although I've done a couple of the Polar Lights Chargers, This is the 1st Barracuda version I've done. And I've seen several builds online and the nose always looks to high ,, so I was worried . It came out Ok. far from perfect. But good enough for my display case. Thanks again
  3. I just went thru the entire build thread, and all I can say is,,,,,,, OH MY GOD
  4. AMAZING work . And the skill to pull this off is off the charts ,,,,,But I'm sorry that is one butt ugly car ( sorry , never been much of a radical customs fan myself ) But it just goes to show ,, the builder of the actual car was thinking WAAAAAY out of the box when he thought this one up. And in actuality the valve covers on the model are from a 426 Hemi ( and yes upside down) the 1/1 car is a 354 or 392 ( dist is in the rear ) which used a completely different shaped valve cover . In scale can it be seen ? sure , but most will never catch it. carry on. ps,,,,,,IF ( key word ) you want to change them,,,, the right ones are in both the Boot Hill Express and the Miss Deal Stude kit
  5. I'm on a roll now. Started this one nearly a year and half ago. After having major issues with the decals. I got disgusted with it and put it back in the case. Seems like every decal I pulled out of the water either craked or split on me( some of which can be seen in these pics ) . Well,,,,,, after stareing at it above the workbench it all this time. I decided it was good enough and pulled it back down this weekend and finished it . It's Polar Lights kit. Built 100% box stock . Painted a duplicolor medium blue laquer straight from a rattle can with one coat of a rattle can urethane clear. Not super shiney but I think pretty close the real car. Not being real happy with all the chrome on the engines in these kits. I stripped a lot of it of and repainted in colors to better represent the actual cars back then. Injector hat is duplicolor chrome to look like polished aluminum, blower itself is stripped and painted in metalizers magnesium . Wheels were stripped and painted in testors brass . Learned a new trick on this one. Using a sharpie paint marker makes it a lot easier to get the black trim around the glass, and a silver one worked great to do the trim around the grille openings. 2 finished builds off the bench and in the case in under a week,,, has to be a record for me !!!!!!! Now,,,,,,, , wheres that next unfinished project ????? As always comments good and bad , much appreciated
  6. This is another one that was painted last spring. then sat aside . It's the Model King re-issue from a few years ago At some point I might add a pre- wired dist but for now I want to call it done . At least till I find a set of the rear wheelie bars to add in, the ones in the kit were warped beyond use 100% box stock. Painted in Testors green metallic with a rattle can urethane clear. It took 3 sets of decals to get it done as they kept cracking as soon as I pulled them out of the water. Plus they are actually done for the Johan kit which I think is incorrect for this car scheme. So it took some work to get right . But it's done and I'll move on with the next one. If any one has one,,,, I need the ft bumper from the Soapy Sales kit , as this model king re-issue doesn't have one With that said,, Enjoy Comments good and bad welcome
  7. Thanks to all for the kind words . it makes my day. Bumpers were stripped and sprayed in a bright silver then cleared As far as the mesh ? I don't remember 100% but I think it was left over screen door mesh ( back when you could still get the metal stuff ) for a house project. simply cut out out with sharp scissors and super glued in
  8. No it's not. I tried late this past fall to get a couple of them I was told the mold is toast and he has no interest in remolding / casting it
  9. missing link has the bucket seats for the 71 Charger
  10. 1 - 1965 Plymouth Belvedere 2 door sedan 2 - 1965 Mercury Comet 3 - 1971 Dodge Challenger hardtop
  11. Correct, it was a multiple car team. 2 cars painted kinda similar - one with white side panels and one with black side panels
  12. Maybe , I need to start restocking my shelf with 64 Dodge and Plymouth kits, I mean I think I'm down to under 20 right now. I've got one of the 66 Chevelles and not sure what I am going to do with it
  13. I'm told the closest match for the interior color is Tamaya Champange Gold metallic sprayed over a dark grey primer base. Which is also extremly close to the same color as the 65 Dodge and Plymouth interior colors (if not the same color )
  14. Hopefuly they show up ok. Gas Rondas car.
  15. Having computer issues uploading pictures to my site see em now ? Having moved 3 times since these were built. The Platt car has taken a beating. It's missing the headlights, tail lights and the hood moulding. I might leave this one on the bench and fix it this weekend
  16. Member Sixgunner68 's T.Bolt build thread got me to dig these 2 out. The Gas Ronda and Hubert Platt cars . Rondas car is built box stock. with nothing but paint detailing. Platts car I added some screen to the hood scoop openings and the air intakes in the grille . Seat belts from the parts box, and basic engine wiring . Both of these were built sometime late 80's early 90's time frame??? so be gentle . I know the interior color is WAY wrong on both cars. Next ones to be done will be more color correct. I have about a dozen more of these kits in the stash.
  17. One more thing. ALL thunderbolts were the same silvery gold color interior. Best I've found so far is Tamaya Champange Gold metallic. sprayed over a dark grey base coat
  18. You got me thinking, But I am about 99% sure the Gas Ronda car was a 4 speed. I've built a couple of these ( long time ago ) , 1st as Gas Rondas cars and the 2nd as Hubert Platts car. I painted the GR car testors orange trying to replicat the original Poppy red , but now there are other sources to get the correct shade. I think Testors hugger orange is close. ( don't hold me to that comment ) If your repainting it as Gas's car theres no worry about color bleed thru I don't remember any fit or assembly issues, but that was several years back when I did mine The one thing I will suggest is add some spacer blocks between the suspsension points and the chassis to get the car up off it's butt. The real cars never sat as low as the completed model does
  19. Very cool , from back in a time when the cars on the track actually looked like the cars in the parking lot
  20. I'm in awe. I like seeing all the scratchbuilt stuff, but I simply don't have the skill's or patience to do so. So my idea of scratchbuild ususally means " Oh BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH,,, I scratched it now I gotta rebuild it " To the ones making a complete replica from nothing but an idea and stryene sheets/strips simply amazes me
  21. The packard might be of interest to me.
  22. Sweet, I have the decals to do this car as well
  23. I love the old kits and will keep buying them as I see fit. and will deal with the in-accuracies ( if any ) as I see fit keepem coming And Thanks
  24. Finally pulled the trigger on a Speed City Resin 1965 Plymouth AFX transkit. I will go on record , if your going to build an AFX Mopar , start here www.speedcityresin.com
