-

John, I build 1/1 cars for a living. and I ask all my customers from the very beginning. What do THEY want in a finished product ? then I try my best to acheive that goal. If there happy, I'm happy. So , if your happy with it. Carry on and enjoy it and all the pleasure it gives you. Life has enough bumps along the way to worry about opinions on an online forum board (mine included btw ) . I can certaintly appreciate the craftsmanship in the build and all it's details , it's just the 1/1 subject matter does nothing for me .
-
I like the overal quality and attention to detail , it's just the subject is to me uglier than sin. BUT, I'm not building it either so my opinion is moot point. That said, the problem with pointing out an error such as this (had it been mentioned earlier) can and will be taken ' by some' as bashing it. Maybe the builder wouldn't but one never knows how any one takes criticism . And my parents always told me, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. I build for me and me alone,,,, so I try to make them accurate within a reasonable effort. BUT, if it's not 100% dead nuts on, I'm not going to loose any sleep over it. I don't do contests, and the only ones who see my stuff outside of my family are the ones I post pictures of online ( which accounts for about a 1/4 of what I have in the case btw) Besides, Everyone ( Ok, maybe most of us ) learn from there mistakes, it what makes us human. Like I said earlier,,, carry on and enjoy the ride while we still can.

Out Of Production Resin & Aftermarket Products
gtx6970 replied to Casey's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I thought Good Stuff did the pieces for the monogram 1970 to convert it into a 1971 ? -
Casually looking for a 1961 but might consider a 1960 Chrysler 300 ( hardtop or convertible ) . I know there was not one made in stryene so resin ( if the quality is up there ) WiIl have to do Already ck'd modelhause and all they make is the New Yorker, And I really want a 300

Old Jo-Han promo plastic question
gtx6970 replied to Craig Irwin's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
my gutt says if it's not warped by now, it's not going to . If you want to find one of the original Johan 1960 thru 1962 Chrysler New Yorker kit's . open the wallet they get pricey and fast. I occasionaly try to get a 1961 but would consider a 1960. but I'm not paying nearly a C note for a builder. Unbuilt ? is really gonna hurt -
Clear coating MM Metalizer paints
gtx6970 replied to Jerry Norton's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
The wheels, and the blower are painted with Metalizers then clear coated with semi gloss clear testors Blower and rear wheels are magnesium and the ft wheels are aluminum ( both lightly buffed then cleared ) -
Interesting take on the old girl. I just finished one of these , the 3 tone interior was a major pain. Otherwise its really good kit .

Other than the Hemi nothing in 1968 was orange.

Looks good. Not an easy kit to get together

Old Jo-Han promo plastic question
gtx6970 replied to Craig Irwin's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Weird part is, Promos were molded in Acetate but a kit version the same car was molded in stryene Its not unusual to find a warped promo but a perfectly mint unwarped kit of the exact same car / kit / time period ( Johan 1963 Dodge Polara as an example ) -
WOW,,,some of you guys are in a league of your own Keepum coming
-
Your off to a pretty good looking start. Whos car is it going to be ? I don't reconize the color scheme
-
Should have done this a long time ago. Now that the photos are fixed. A litte bit of info is in order. Polar Lights kit. built box stock . Body was painted last spring when I got on a painting spree , as was the chassis. Then I got interested in something else and this one went by the wayside. I've decided the past few weeks I want all started projects out of the box + off the bench before anything else gets started. ( got about 4 or 5 more to go ) I don't remember the color the body is painted in , might be Testors . But it has a Upol rattel can urethane clear top coat . Chassis is duplicolor red. Wheels were stripped and painted with testors metalizers - rears are magnisium and ft's are aluminum and both with a satin clearcoat. Interior tins are painted with duplicolor chrome to get a polished aluminum look so common with the Gene Snow car. Untill I find the oil filter assy and seat belts, this ones done and in the case. I REALLY like these Polar Lights funnycar kits

Doing the happy dance I got he picture ordeal fixed,, so heres a few more
-
John, Once completed is the body going to remain removable to show detail ? I would think it would have to , to really display all the work involved here I'll give ya props, the work involved here is off the charts . Ugly subject matter,(imo ) but the detail borders on fanatical
-
Whats not to like, Injected Hemi in an altered wheelbase Dodge. Love it , but I might be slightly biased. My goal is to build all the major players running AFX cars back then
-
Lets see if this way works. I signed up for Photobucket yesterday
-
I've paid anywhere from $2 to $500 for kits. Although the chance I will actually build a $500 kit is extremely unlikely. ( sold the $500 kit btw ) Most I have in any one kit today is about $125-$150 range. But I also collect dealer promotionals as well,And they'll put a dent it the wallet quite deep . But thats another post altogether. Back when I did contests , I used to build models using lots of aftermkt pieces. There for could easily tip the $100 and up on builds But now and for the most part outside of the costs of the kit itself and basic suppiles , ( paint and supplies along with some aftermkt decals on a few ) I rarely spend much more than the kits costs.
