gtx6970 replied to Dragline's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I just went thru my pics on this PC and I got nothing. If I get time I'll see if I have anything in print. -

Pretty cool , and it gives me an idea for a future project.
-
Impressive is an understatement. I like this one A LOT. I used to work for a local shop that specialized in the restoring the brass era cars.,,,,and You nailed the look on this one to a T . I followed along on the build thread and it has me looking for one of these kits do for later on.

Duplicolor has a medium blue thats reasonably close to B5 It's called Bahama Blue metallic. here is my ( one of many ) stalled project painted with it.
-
buy approx $40 worth of kits to get 4 tires, problem with this thinking is I have no use what so ever for the remainder of said mustang kit Thanks but I'll pass anyone bought one or several with plans to not use the polyglas tires , pm me . I could use several sets of the F60-15's and maybe even a few of the L60-15's
-
So the way I understand it, the only thing new about this one ,,are the tires ?
-
Not here yet, but just bought 3 more of these . that should give me maybe an even 10 or so

I would sure gladly take the 2 white junkers in the upper left corner of that picture off your hands ( 1962 Dodge and 1962 Plymouth )

What are my choices for a '69 Pontiac GTO in 1/25
gtx6970 replied to jaydar's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As far as a factory stock type build,. I think the one and only 1/25th scale is the original issue . But I'm not a pontiac guy so I could be wrong. If there is, I would like to have one and builders pop up on ebay from time to time . They are not of my must have list yet so I haven't been looking to hard . I just did a search and found this if it's of interest ( I'm just passing it on - as it's not mine nor do I know the seller ) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Vintage-MPC-1969-Pontiac-GTO-Funny-Car-3-in-1-Model-Car-Kit-NIB-/281025001168?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item416e6536d0 I do know the 1970 GTO was re-issued( I have one here) and the re-issued 1972 GTO is super easy to come up wit -
personally I try make everything in house if I can. ( I tend to be something of a tightwad ) my problem has been being able to see the dist cap to drill it, having stuck the mini drill into my finger a few times,,,,,,,,I started buying the done MAD dist

Agreed I watch for them regularly and have bought a few in the past several months . Most recent was a 1933 Imperial kit I REALLY like the early cars.
-
Love it. Very well done . I've become a huge fan of the early cars (1935 and prior) and same here, have been buying them up as funds allow
-
Well done, I really really like this one
-
I never even thought about that one, even any of the Polar Lights chassis could be a good fit. The problem with any of them besides the Johan kit is going to be interior tin choices that fit the MK challenger body with a reasonable amount of work Either way, to the OP, my apologies for the hijak, I think it looks great and would have no problems putting it on my shelf. If I may, what did you use for the body color ? as a general rule the Model King Challenger is accurate for builds representing cars from approx 1972 thru 1974 ish with the Johan more accurate for 1970 thru approx 1972 ish all depending on individual teams and funding determined how often they updated / changed rides
-
I believe the Model King GTO and the Cougar are close if not one and the same But, even though I have several of each I don't have one handy right now to compare, but from what I do know it would be closer than the MK challenger chassis ps, Johan challengers are all over Ebay ( I just bought 3 myself ) typically they run in the $25-$35 range

Is the Bighorn kit version readily avail today ? friend of mine has 2 or 3 of them
-
Not anymore.but I've had a bunch over the years . Now, I work on the full size versions for other people. ( I work for myself ) Currently have a 1968 Charger R/T , a 1969 Charger R/T in the shop , with a 1970 Challenger Rt/SE 440 sixpack car coming in this weekend . And I am supposed to be getting a 1951 Mercury M1 pickup coming in this winter. Finished a 1970 Roadrunner 440 six barrel and a 1970 Hemi AAR Cuda last year for customers. few pics here http://www.facebook.com/pages/AM-High-Tech-Automotive/408528952539495

Looks good. I started one of this car and had major decal issues so I got disgusted and shelved it . Floppers Rule And I'm not bashing , just making a gentle suggestion but just as an fyi neither car pictured here used the chassis style in the MK challenger funny car. The Johan challenger is a more accurate choice. Johan on the left - MPC / model king version on the right .

Question for members from Pro Tech
gtx6970 replied to Pro Tech's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Credit card sales is a necessary evil ,,,,,,,,IMO. I pay a monthly service fee regardless if I use the merchant service or not , also pay an additional fee becauee I have a wireless terminal for shows. if I don't sell a single thing via credit cards sales it still costs me about $60 (thats never happend btw ,,,,although I have got real close in the past few months ) I also do paypal ( currently ebay only though ) and I don't pay any fees if I don't use them for a sale . Both have there vices , especially Paypal IF you get a chargeback most merchants will take into considerations from both sides , Paypal could care less about the seller and in every instance ( that I am aware ) of has sided with the buyer
