  1. 2 Teardrop hoods from Competition Resin for a 1963-64 Galaxie showed up yesterday,,,,,and an AMT 55 Nomad along with a set of the decals to do the Scotto-Blevins car arrived between Christmas and New Year.
  2. This was my 1st thought. It's amazing how small the world has become due to the internet. And I can only imagine what it must be like getting kits and supplies around the world . Oh,,,, and Welcome aboard.
  3. I was cruising around Comp resins site this morning and I see they have released a resin 1971 Dodge Challenger pro stock kit I just ordered a few resin hoods last week and this body was not on there at that time. I now have a source to do a 1/25 scale Mopar Missile Challenger kit http://www.compresins.com/site/751597/product/CR-5024
  4. I've bought dozens of decals from him, Not one problem ever
  5. Both very much have there place in the hobby. Myself, Yes I do have a few ( maybe a half dozen ) unbuilt old kits that will stay that way. All are kits I had as a kid . BUT, I also have a builder of everyone of said kits that are either already built or will be I used to have all 3 of the Color Me Gone funnycar kits .( 2 out of the 3 were factory sealed inside) I had a major cash offer to sell them several years back that I accepted and that started a a frenzy to clean out the closet of valuable plastic. And I now buy builders/builtups of kits I want to do , some old , some new. The most valuable old unbuilt I have today is probably only worth in the $90 - $100 range . I got into collecting dealer promos instead. Not so sure that was a great idea either.
  6. Ditto, I have not competed in an outside contest in nearly 15 years and have no interest to restart now I build for me and me alone, As long is the completed product looks like my intended subject matter I'm good . The most I use anymore are pre-wired dists and decals , but thats more due to I just can't see that small do do them myself . I might use a photoetched grille sometime but thats going to be the extent of my aftermkt requirements.
  7. Don't be to hard on yourself. considering the quality I'm surprised it only took A year.
  8. it might , I might be able to just use 2 ft seats and make it work for a ft and rear ( door panel design is obviously different ) gotta picture avail ? is there a difference between 63 versus 64 ?
  9. I to go to contests from time to time , but ONLY as a spectator . I could care less if a judge likes they way I built it or not. I learned a long time ago build for yourself and yourself only. You will sleep better trust me
  10. Does a bench seat conversion interior exist to convert the bucket seat model of either the 63 or 64 Ford Galaxie kits ?
  11. I have both the MPC Blue Max as well as a Revell version. I'll ck body height on them both this afternoon
  12. WOW,,,,, you have been busy. I like them all.
  13. If your after detail the new AMT kit is the way to go. Especially for chassis and under hood details are just so much better on the new kit Body wise I think they are very similar. This was started long ago and the previous owner gave up on it, and sold it to me a LOOOOOONG time before the current AMT kit came out. I originally bought it to build my brothers 1/1 car . But it got stuck in a box and forgot about till maybe a month ago . I'll probably still give it to him even though it's the wrong color . Then build his actual car from the AMT kit
  14. Ok, I keep looking for pics and find nothing. I am trying to find out info on the following Tasca Ford 1963 Galaxie , interior details bench seat or buckets and 4 spd or auto Mickey Thompson 1963 Galaxie interior details bench seat or buckets and 4 spd or auto Osburn Trucking 1964 Galaxie interior details bench seat or buckets and 4 spd or auto Mike Schmidt - Desert Motors 1964 Galaxie, I think this one is red interior and column auto ? Dick Brannans - Romy-Hammes 1963 Galaxie interior details bench seat or buckets and 4 spd or auto
  15. I have one of the Okey Spaulding version 4 door promos I might consider letting go of
  16. Thanks all for the nice comments. When I dug it out of the box, my intenetion was to strip it down to paint it Plum Crazy Purple to match my brothers 1/1 car. ( also a V/8 3spd stick car btw ) But the paint was just good enough I decided to leave it as is , and just finish it the way someone else had intended so long ago. The more I look at it the more I think I want to add underhood heater hoses to help the engine bay . But otherwise it's done. It now sits on the shelf along side my sassy grass green 1971 Duster promotional.
  17. I don't consider myself a hoarder. . Hoarders don't sell anything. Myself, with exception a few kits I have,,,,,,, I'll sell anything if the price is right . Actually sold off maybe 30-40 kits last spring at a swap meet . There was nothing special , just kits I had serous doubts I would ever do anything with .be them subject matter or scale I had no interest in I have somewhere in the 350/400 kits range, so by some standards thats nothing . I know people with kits numbering in the thousands
  18. WOW, this is the 1st I've ever heard of a Butch Leal SS Hemi Dart . Did some digging this afternoon and sure enough it existed . But sounds like the car was more of a PR stunt than a real effort to go SS A/A racing . As it sounds like it only lasted a couple races on the west coast. I read about it on classracer.com Just goes to show ya, never say never.
  19. Butch Leal had a 1968 Dart ? If so thats a new one to me .
  20. I bought this as a builtup roughly 15 years ago from a friend of mine ( long before the AMT version came out ) And it's sat in the box collecting dust ever since,,,, till now. I stumbled onto it a few weeks back while looking for something else. So I decided to do something with it . So I dug it out to make an assesment, and decided to leave the painted body and chassis as is . It's not super shiney but it looks pretty decent considering the life it's led. Original 1971 bumpers and grille were replated when I received it . Interior is box stock with exception of resin replacement ft seats from Missing link to replicate the originals. Chassis is the same,, box stock and painted flat black. The underhood area and the hood I decided to leave just the way I got it back then.Interior is simply painted with Testors white primer and rubbed out slightly with a kleenix. I didn't get an original MPC engine with it,, so I robbed the one from the current AMT car, added a pre-wired dist from MAD. I polished up the paint as best I could , I used the side stripe side decals from the AMT kit.( hood 340 wedge decal is the original.) Overall I think it turned out pretty good considering it's been languishing in a box with 2 other duster builtup kits for over 15 years. Brings my total builds for 2012 to a grand total of 5, not bad considering I didn't get just one built the previous 10 years combined. Comments good and bad always welcome.
  21. Slixx does the decals for the Sox and Martin Paper Tiger 1 and 2 http://www.slixx.com/1953.htm?id=4710 They also do the ones for the Dick Landy car http://www.slixx.com/s1184.htm?id=2835 And I believe they do (or used to do ) a set for the Mr Norm car , just not sure which one
  22. Jack Smith at Top End decals has a great choice of 1960's era drag racing decals....highly recommended. TIm I have several sets of decals from Jack,,, actually just picked up the set to do the Scotto-Blevins 55 Nomad decal sheet late last week. I have not used any of them so far, but they look real nice You can try this site as well. http://vsrnonline.com/GregsDecalGraphics/index.htm He has a pretty good assortment of AWB decals including a lot of Mopar related ones.
  23. Both of these were Good stuff kits from many years ago Butch Leals 1965 AFX car. Dick Landys 1965 AFX car
  24. Like the title says. Is there a resin teardrop style hood avail for the 1964 Ford Galaxie kit. ? I have a couple for the 1963 Galaxie but am unsure if it will fit the 64 kit without cutting the molded in hood out of the 64 body
  25. As you should be , the car looks absolutely fantastic. Your build philosophy is the same as mine. As long as it represents the visuals of my intended subject. I call it good . Well done. I had the opportunity to talk to Big a few years back for just a few minutes. He's a very humble easy to talk to man. I enjoyed it
