I just looked thru all my AFX cars pictures. And I didn't find one single picture of the Landy car with a vent wing frame but every one has a frame around the door glass. I DID find a few of the Sox and MArtin Paper Tiger 1 car that had the vent wing frames. I still think this is a cool picture . If I cound find the truck cab, I might considering attempting this in scale .

Normally, I am not a gasser class fan,,,,,, but that is just plain cool. I just might have to build one myself just for giggles.

I've seen these pop up on ebay from time to time. I keep thinking I want one to replicate my actual truck. But I always find something I need / want worst so it gets bypassed

In my diggings. I think it was when the private teams/owners started modifiyng there own cars for the AFX class is when I think the straight axles started showing up. I don't remember ever seeing any pics of the Landy 65 car with a straight axle under it. 'ALL' of the factory built cars were moved ft and rear suspension retaining the K-frame control arm layout. PS,all the factory built cars were hardtops, Most (but not all ) of the private built cars were sedans

I was another one of those that built off and on for most of my life. Up until my daughters came into the picture ( 2 girls now 15 and 12) . I've always been a gear head / car buff and have always built more along the line of old drag cars than anything else. Primarily Old Superstocks and Funnycars. Ranging from approx 1961 up thru approx 1974 give or take a year or 2 each way depending on the subject. I would still buy kits from time to time when something caught my fancy but rarely did I sit down at the work bench for anything to be considered building something. That said sometime last year I started messing with kits again on a part time basis . As time went by, I got more and more interested in working on building again. So I dug out some long before started projects and decided to get something out of the box and onto the shelf. So here goes. My 1st kit to be finished in almost 15 years Wild Willie Borsch Altered This one was painted within weeks of when this kit was first re-issued in the early-mid 90's but wasn't finally completed till this spring. Next one done was the Dick Landy Hemi Dart project. This is another one that sat nearly finished on my shelf for nearly 10 years. Not anymore. It was built based on the Mr Norms 1968 Dart kit with parts box pieces and an aftemkt resin hood .(long before the current Hemi Dart release) Next one was my 1st full start to finish model kit this year decade, actually in the last 10-12 years. A 1964 Dodge Superstocker using the Lindberg kit and Decals by Lucas decals to do the Dick Oldfield early 70s era Superstocker. Next one up was a project I blame on another member( caine440) I saw his version of this car and it started in motion a project I just had to do. I never even knew this car existed till I saw his build of it. This one started off as an early 80's era johan re-issue promo. So its a curbside with just a lindberg dodge chassis under it to get the stance I was after. Lastly is a more of a resurection than a full build. An original issue MPC 1971 annual Duster 340 I bought with an already painted body and decided to just leave it as it was and detail it best I could . I've owned this kit for nearly 20 years. While searching for something else I stumbled onto it . So I and dug it out this past fall , re-did the interior in white and engine is from the current AMT Duster kit with a MAD prewired dist added,, otherwise it's pretty much box stock . I've painted maybe another half dozen bodies along the way and did some long overdue repairs to other builds that the cat knocked off the shelf, but these are the only ones to go from box to shelf this year/decade for me. Hopefully 2013 will be more in the same . Many thanks for looking

Parts kits - what's your favorite?
gtx6970 replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
this could very well be a very subjective list - it all comes down to taste / build styles. What may be one persons #1 doner kit , very well may be someone elses #1 holy grail kit. For my primary doner kit it's s probably the Lindberg 1964 Dodge/ Plymouth kits and/or the AMT 1968 Road Runner kits . -
OK, chop chop lets go. I wanna see this one done Good friend of mine used to have a black with gold stripes Hertz car several years back. Man that car was a blast to drive. So this car has a soft in my history

OK, I had to do it. I dug out an MPC 1972 Landy Challenger body. And did a test fit of both a Johan 71 cuda int tub and chassis as well as an AMT 1970 Chalenger int tub and chassis into an MPC body - and I think both could be made to work without to much difficulty . I think the best fit is combining an AMT interior tub and the Johan chassis . Once I get my toy fund replenished I am going to order one of these . Are the Stepp decals avail ? I saw a set of Ebay a while back for both the Demon and the Challenger but that was just a one time thing and I haven't seen them since + I didn't get them
-
I wonder if one could just use the AMT interor tub and chassis ? I didn't even think about the Joahn cuda kit as a doner , I just assumed this body is based on an original MPC kit ?? maybe I better ask I have plenty of the Johan Cudas and also several MPC 72-74 Challenger builtups if needed as well I sure hope it's not based on the lindberg Challenger. ps, Reliable resin lists a Missle Challenger type hood but with the reviews of service I am gun shy to go there

Invader Challenger FC *WIP* Whoopiekat Decals
gtx6970 replied to Tye Brown's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
You got my attention. I've been wanting to do this one just haven't pulled the trigger on the decals yet. -
Over the years I picked up a couple unbuilt of these. I have also since picked up another 2 or 3 builders as a 'just in case' (not a big fan of the Revell kit) This one was still sealed inslde when I built it. And yes they are the original MPC decals that actually were usable. I also have a 2nd one that will stay sealed inside because this is just one of those kits I had as a kid when it first came out ( yea I'm old)

Great picture. He has that ' if I don't move he can't see me' expression That right there is frame it quality.
