Ok, I was digging thru my parts stash looking for something else and came across these . Anyone know what they are or what year they are correct for ?
-
I think thats why I kept thinking of this build. It was so ugly , it was just to cool to forget about it. And being a Ramchargers team car makes it a must have for me I've got about $50 in it with postage, and I couldn't buy a resin kit for that

Rogers buid is the one that gave me the insperation, Only I saw it ,,here,,, http://vintagedragmodelsinc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=talk223&action=display&thread=2908 Untill then,,,I never knew this car existed, then I stumbed onto the re-issue promo and then a light bulb went off in my head which brings me to this point. PS. the hood will stay molded shut and remain a curdside version and thats good enough for my shelf

This is my ultimate goal . Finding pictures of this car has proven to be a bit tougher than I thought. And I'm not 100% sure of how the side trim mldgs are supposed to be on this car.

At this point, I just had to do some kind of a mockup to get a feel for the stance. I'm still undecided on the chassis . The promo just has a flat plate style chassis that has limitations on how to give it a nose up stance like I want. So I may use an old Johan kit chassis that 'I think' is from the 1960 Plymouth wagon . The lettering is an idea I had and was playing with the computer and some avery clear address labels, so they are just test samples for now, MCW does in fact have the decals for this car, but I'm undecided on if I'll use them or my own . The trim that runs along the edge of the 1/4 panel is way to thin and will dis-appear under even the lightest of paint / primer coats. So I plan to sand off whats there and make my own with some real thin evergreen sprue. The main purpose of this is get it done,, quickly. I had thought about opening the hood, but decided against it. This is to be from the start a quickie build .

Once I got it apart I sprayed the interior with testors flat red, then went over some areas with a testors plain bottle red to give the illusion of a 2 tone interior. Then with some slight detailing of the inst panel, I'm going to call the int done.

Since about a month or so ago a came across a post where a member on another board did this one, I haven't been able to just put it away for later. About this same time I stumbed on an 80's issue of a Johan promo of the car and it got the gears turning. The hood is and will stay molded in place so it'll be a curbside version, but I'm good with that Got it apart and the interior is now painted in a 2 tone red . Also , I picked up some chrome reverse wheel and white wall slicks off the 'bay last week. So I have no idea what the wheels are from . Tires I think are parts pack items . Anyway this is what I started with,,,,,, an 80's issue of a Johan promo in some ugly tan ext with pea green interior

Roger Lindamood`s "Color me Gone" 68 Charger
gtx6970 replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
As far as I know, No. John, This car would be tough to do . As the paint work was pretty elaborate. It would take someone with considerable airbrush skills ( such as yourself ) to pull it off . I for one am not skilled enough or have the time to attempt it . maybe someday ? If you look close the dark areas on the tops of the fenders, extending rearward to the sides of the roof and back down on the outer edges of the decklid . It has ( best I can describe ) as balloon circles . If you want I'll dig thru my files and see if I have a better picture -

gtx6970 replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
At the risk of taking this off subject. ( not my intention ) This is the 1969 season mini- bodied car. Either way this is a dynomite build and you have definitly popped by buttons for the day -

Roger Lindamood`s "Color me Gone" 68 Charger
gtx6970 replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Looks killer and paint work looks amazing and dead on , and is my hands down favorite car of the period. But if I may,,,,,, the paint scheme shown is 1968 season and it was a full size bodied car. 1969 season was a different paint scheme and was when the mini bodied car such as a polar lights body showed up -
Johan Challenger funny car "Ram Rod"
gtx6970 replied to Fortheloveofgassers's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Actually, the Johan body is pretty accurate,,,,,all depending on WHO's car you plan to build and at what time in the season. And I think the Johan kit has a grille blockoff panel to do later in the season replicas. As an example early 1970 season the Ramchargers Challenger has a stock grille - late 1970 season it had a flush ft end like the CMG car above Like mentioned, the AMT and/or MPC bodies are just stock length - stock wheelbase promo bodies -
Thanks Rog, I just ordered some Tamiya paints , Once it gets here I will do some spray outs then compare them to a buddy of mines 1969 Plymouth color and trim selector catalog.
-
Interesting, this is Mystic Emerald over bare white plastic and it doesn't look like either of your test shots. Maybe it's lighting or maybe it's just my monitor ?????? As the body in person ( although it's close as shown here ) doesn't look exactly like the picture on my PC screen either . I just tried to get better pictures but the body is now decals on it and theres not much of the orignal green left showing thru to show the color very well. .

Just wait tll the younguns get a bit older and start school, after school activites etc etc etc . , you might as well throw a blanket over the modeling table and forget it for a while. congrats btw

which one ? http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=tamiya+metallic+green+&_sacat=0 I have the same car in the build pipeline and am open to color choices I don't have a local place to buy Tamiya paints so I have no opinions on how close it is - or isn't. And any color can be different depending on pc monitors I've seen the subject car in person at the 'post restoration' coming out party a few years back. And it is a real bright metallic green and I am not 100% convinced it's true to the OE 97 paint code color for the 1969 model year. Same deal on the Don Grotheer 1969 A12 Car , the pictures I've seen the color is light blue with orangish stripe accents, yet the aftermkt decals are more red to me

The color is in fact a fine metallic color. Factory paint code was 97 . I have a can of Testors One Coat Lacquer in Mystic Emerald green , although I've not done a close up match to the OE color chip. I think it looks prety close to the cars original color. And unless I find something better it's what I plan to use. http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/projectbuild/mopp_0204_project_six_pack_caltracs_monoleaf_suspension/ http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sales/inventory/top_sales/1969-1-2-Plymouth-Road-Runner-A12/131232#!/ http://a12mopar.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1231436185
