1940 Ford Resto Rod (outdoor pictures added 08/12/17)
Lovefordgalaxie replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in Model Cars
Thanks Dave! Thanks!! LOL!!! I almost painted it black. Thanks!!! Thank you Ray. One of those days I'll build a Cobra. Thanks!! -
For sure it's odd. But also cool. I never got the idea of why it's a rod. Remove the "corpses" and what remains (no pun intended) look more military than rod ish.

Looks awesome.

1940 Ford Resto Rod (outdoor pictures added 08/12/17)

Thanks!! I do the body and paint first, so, while the enamel dries, I work on the other parts, and use acrylics for them all. Being on vacation helps a lot. Most of the time I spent on this one was literally watching paint to dry. Thanks!! Thank you!! Thanks!! Appreciated!! Thanks!! Had to build another one. You 'll enjoy this kit, trust me. -

Very nice work, specially in 1/32 scale. Looks like the 1:1 even has the same tires from 1959. -
Now THAT'S cool!!!

Last one for 2017. Uncle Henry gave a vacation. Built in a week and a half. It's basically my idea of a 1940 Ford Hot Rod with all the high tech mods I would admit to do to the car. She has 12V electrical system, alternator, and super modern heads, intake and air cleaner. Almost a Galaxy Class starship. The engine is a 239 flatty from a 1948 Ford. Like I didn't buy the street rod kit, and only had the rodding parts from the Revell 1948 Ford Convertible Club Coupe (Motor City Flathead heads, air cleaner, and dual exhaust, missing the headers), I dropped the stock front axle from the Revell '40, and again, shortened the track, like I did on my stock build. Also adapted the dual exhaust from the '48 to work on the '40. Had to shorten the glasspacks, and build my own pipes between them and the exhaust manifolds. Left the headlight doors and grille chrome plated for some more flash, but used a stock color on the body (Mandarin Maroon), even tough it was not available on the Standard model. And since this is a car driven today, I added a electric fan, so you can put the hammer down on hot days. Almost installed aftermarket blinker on the column... Well, here she is. If I have the chance tomorrow, i'll take some outdoor pictures. 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Standard Business Coupe Hot Rod by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr

I imagine this baby with a little wash on the grille, some foil, and some black paint on the radiator. It's a real nice build, but could be made super nice with ease.

Great job!!! Really well done.

A new tool 1932 Ford model 18 Deluxe Coupe kit that CAN be build stock; A Stock 1937 Ford; 1938 Standard and Deluxe Fords; A real 1939 Ford Deuxe; A 1941and 1942 Ford car (any body style but a wagon, as I'm not much of a fan of wood). Should be easy using the Revell '48 kit as a base; 1951, 1952, 1954, and 1955 Fords; 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Sedan in 1:12 scale; 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 (any of them); 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 four door sedan with the R code V8 in 1:12 scale; 1967 Ford Galaxie 500 (any body style);

Going back to enamel paint
Lovefordgalaxie replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I guess I must be the most old school. I go way out of my way to buy automotive enamel paint mixed in authentic Ford colors. The guy I buy from (1:1 car paint shop), is the only one that still mixes enamels. I just use "modern" base coat clear coat on metallic colors, and that is only because I can't find Acrylic Enamel anymore. Sometimes I use rattle can, but only Tamiya. -

Looks like it's the AMT '36, a great kit if you ask me. I'm not a fan of this kind of build, and I think it looks odd with the taillights pointing up, and the shelf just glued to the roof. Very easy to bash a kit when you don't know how old the tool is, and how great it was when new.

WOW!!!!!! My kind of car, and my kind of build. Superb job. -
I like them. Some foil on the trim, and some flat black on the running boards, and they will be perfect.

The Cadillac tailights pointing up look real odd.

Looks like the guy didn't send you the bulldozer kit. It's OK, I would be pissed too. He sent you just a P.O. Bx, you sent him your kit, and he never gave you a phone number, nor answers your private messages. That's classical. People love to trash e-Bay, or in my case, Mercado Livre, but it's still very safe. At least for the buyer, as the only two times I had problems, I got my cash back, and with my points, I can always get free shipping for a model kit. Report the bad trader to the moderators, add him to the bad traders thread, and move on. Have a beer, and start building something. -
Barn find '40, made of multiple parts box pieces. The fenders are Lindberg, with the grille cut, and replaced by one out of a damaged set of AMT fenders. Wheels, from 04 different kits... Body is AMT. Dash is Lindberg, with the super wrong radio speaker face. Steering wheel is from a '49 Ford. Engine is AMT. Chassis is also AMT, with the rails busted and glued back together. 1940 Ford Deluxe Barn Find by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Deluxe Barn Find by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr 1940 Ford Deluxe Barn Find by CCCP Digital Studio, on Flickr

Considering how important the car is not only to France, but to automotive history in general, It really took quite a while. I''m happy they did the early one, and not the ones with the hideous headlights. Not taking into account the Facel Vega, I think this is the coolest French car.

Really loved this one. Brings great memories of watching the movies.
