I would love to see that one. Pics of the all red Monte are VERY rare. -

Don't feel bad, I used to spell it wrong too. Then I walked into the shop one day and Maurice and Dale were both there and I got thier autographs. I wish I had all those old pictures but one waterbed and an idiotic ex wife later...well, just draw your own conclusion! -

It was actually 1961 that both Petty's wrecked in the qualifiers. Did you mean to say "Maurice"? -

It is a sixty. I don't know why I put '59 other than it was really late. -
Whats the best place for drag stickers?

I say go with Chuck. Not to denegrate the others at all i'm sure they're fine but i've been in talks recently with Chuck and he's a great guy. Give them all a shot because there's no guarantee Chuck has what you want but start there. -

I know right?! All Richard got was a sore shoulder and some glass particles in the eyes. To hear Richard tell it (and I hope he never sees this as I might be talking out of school) Lee was a different person before that wreck. Afterward the cane didn't bother him, his limp and aching leg didn't phase him. He hated not being able to race. True he tried a few more times in the next couple years but it wasn't the same. Alot of folks talk about him being gruff and surly. He was, to a point. But the few times I got to talk with him he was very personable. Of course I broke the ice with a couple good golf jokes which by the tme I met him golf was his favorite thing. By the way, Micheal, thank you for posting the link. Those were some great pics of his restored '59 Plymouth. -

You know Chas, as many times as i've seen that footage of Johnny Beauchamp pushing Lee over that guardrail, it still sends cats up my spine. The only real comfort out of it I can find is that it ended Beauchamps career as well. From what Richard told me way back in 1978, there had been a rivalry between Beauchamp and the Petty's from the word go. It kind of suprised me because i've never known Richard to dislike anybody, but I guess there was at least one. -

Richard's first car was actually a '57 Olds. The '59 Plymouth shown on that link however, was Richard's first good looking car. I think the Petty Blue had something to do with that. -
Family interest in models?

I think there are a couple female members but they don't show up or post very often. -

I was going to post here. Then halfway through what I was going to say I got really depressed. So i'm going to do something really nice for all of you and just stop here. -
Same here Craig...just one of those lifetimes! At least next time i'll have an all new chance to screw it up in an original way.

Why aren't all model kits awesome?
MAGNUM4342 replied to Henchmen4Hire's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, it is a little easier to navigate the forum as a member. I guess alot of them might not post because they are shy, or don't feel thier work is good enough (a common misconception) and the numbers would dictate alot of them don't even build models but do like to look at the miniature marvels. I guess there's alot of reasons. -
AMT '58 Plymouth Belvedere CHRISTINE kit
MAGNUM4342 replied to cooltoys1's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Therin lies the rub Joe. There is so much debate on so many boards over the color, induction style, even the suspension has been almost as suspect as the actual color of the car. I have decided for myself that it's a fantasy non-production car from a fantasy movie and i'm just going to get right the things most agreed upon and hang the rest. I'll choose a color that looks best to me and build the engine as close as possible. I think the engine pic shown earlier is as close as we're going to get. Maybe if we're lucky we can find out what brand of carb they were using back then at Plymouth and surmise from there. -

VERY suprising until you think about it. I mean there is the occaisional question or comment from left field but Harry's right. There's about 250 of us with nothing else to do. -
Welcome to the forum Dan, we could use a few more Ferraris here.

Casey beat me to it. That Charger kit was a good example of how they do sometimes listen and are willing to fix glaring problems. -
have I ruined my decals?
MAGNUM4342 replied to cobramike's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
You could try and salvage it, but my common sense says toss it and ask revell for a replacement. They are generally pretty nice about such things. As a last resort someone here may have one they didn't use. In the future, use a spray paint lid that has the secondary tube inside the cap to set liquid glues and micro set's in to keep from knocking them over. -

Also remember that resin is much softer than styrene and will sand down much quicker in cleanup. I use emery boards and a light touch. -

Wow! If the pic of that Camaro is accurate it looks to me almost as if it were photographed through a fisheye lens. With the exception of a huge honkin blower thru the hood it could almost be a zinger! -
Absolute proof, stripped down can be purty! I'd like to know how that interior was done too! B)
