  1. My mother was a huge fan of his (and Folgers) and took his demise a little harder than the average fan. He was an incredible talent on the track and a great guy off of it. This build is a really cool tribute to the man. Kudos on a well done model.
  2. That's awesom Ed. Congratulations!
  3. I'll be up-front about this. I've always loathed this car as well as the Clooneymobile. It's a roadster that looks more like it would be at home in an "Aliens" movie. HOWEVER, I do love a nice clean build, and flat or semi gloss black is almost as hard to pull off as a gloss. What we have here is one well done Bat! With as minimal of detail as this thing has you've done a great job on the details and a nice subtle wash on the engine panels. KUDOS!
  4. Good luck, and remember to post in the "workbench" and "under glass" sections as you go.
  5. Both being Tamiya does help, but this is something that depends on a couple factors. Skill set or level, style of kits (are both glue or is one a snap) and obviously scale. For this swap if both kits share brand, scale and skill level it should swap over with little or no effort and modification. Basically if it can be swapped in 1:1, it should be no problem to swap in scale.
  6. I don't know if you should "keep away" as such, but I would put alot of Revell's offerings at the bottom of the list and keep Tamiya and Hasegawa at the top. I've never tried a Fujimi but what I know of them they are right up there with Tamiya and Hasegawa.
  7. Earlier this evening I uploaded two pics and in between the upload and my album the message came up that they were performing maintenance. It's working fine now. On a side note, YAY my toolbar is back!
  8. Certainly. I also concur with Joe. I didn't want to try a Tamiya kit until someone gave me the '66 Beetle kit. I swear it all but fell together. The engineering of these kits is astounding. You just have to be carefull with the really tiny parts. Sometimes they look like just a piece of excess plastic on the runner but it's really a part.
  9. Just don't try it with Easy off. Some guys get good results stripping resin with it but the chemicals in EO can softer some resins. Purple pond is definitely the way to go with resin.
  10. This is a sticky one. I like VeeDubs myself but now that you mention it I don't recal seeing any aftermarket item beyond Herbie decals. Hopefully someone here will have a better answer for you. Welcome to the forum by the way.
  11. Nice work, wrong thread. ANDY- try reposting the links. The thread got moved and now they aren't showing up.
  12. Wipe them down with thinner to clean the surface and dip them in futureshine.
  13. Lately what i've had to do is left click to highlight the img code in blue then right click to copy.
  14. I have a specific project in mind and I wanted to try casting certain parts in neon resin. I find all kinds of dyes available for resins but so far only Smooth on has neons. Do any of you know of another casting supplier that has neon dyes? Thank you.
  15. Mind completely blown! I even looked a second time first thing in the morning before my meds kicked in to be sure and you are correct sir...WOW!
  16. That's the first time I ever saw a car just shatter like that! I said it before and i'll say it again, these new cars are going kill somebody. Now it looks as though they'll kill alot of somebodies. Probably why my folks always got tickets at the top of Weatherly tower.
  17. Again, I could not have made it through this without support from my friends here and elsewhere. For anyone else whose had a back operation as well I pray that it was done well. For those of you that have had it and sti;; have problems with it I hold out hope that one day it will all get better. Thank you and god bless, my model building friends.
  18. Wieght has nothing to do with it. It's a combination of car setup and driver's skill not weight.
  19. If we are talking about the 1/16th Petty Charger, It's chassis is entirely correct (Except for the K member). The HEMI was available until 1973 when NASCAR mandated a smaller engine size due to the first oncoming gasoline shortage. Petty began making shop built K members for reinforcement around 64 when they first started racing the HEMI engine. Thay K member was the only change ade to the MOPAR OR Ford chassis. The same unibody style chassis was used in the Roadrunners and Chargers all the way up to the 1978 MAGNUM. Full chassis manufacturing started in the Petty camp the same year (1978) after the purchase of a Banjo Monte Carlo and chassis. At least I think it was Banjo Matthews, i'm a little fuzzy on pain meds right now and may be way off. I know i'm correct about the petty's tho. Obviuosly the AMT Charger chassis won't fit the 1/16th kit but I use it for all my Roadrunner and Charger builds in 1/25th - 24th. Hope this helps.
  20. For having fought you so hard it sure looks as if you wrestled it to submission. Well done but...what? No interior pics?
  21. My back surgery went quite well. I am now at home and will be resting up for the next week or a little more. Then i'm just going to have to hit the bench as soon as possible! I have to wear a backbrace for awhile but it should be off injust a couple weeks. I once again want to thank everyone who responded openly in the "looming operation" thread, and to those of you who were compelled to contact me privately. That has been the biggest contributor to my healing, as well as my attitude during the ordeal. I can't sit upright for very ;ong at a clip just yet so my contributions to the forum will be minimal for awhile. Gregg- You were absolutely 1,000% correct in everything you told me and I am so gratefull for your advice and the members of this board. Have a spectacular weekend everyone.
  22. EXCEPTIONAL! I don't know how this one slipped my radar but i'm glad I found it.
  23. Decided to treat myself so i'll have something waiting on me when I get home from the hospital. Just scored these two beauties! Now if I can just figure out how to turn that MAGNUM into 1/25th.
  24. For my money it's the car that would become the Batmobile. The 1955 Lincoln Futura
