1/16 MPC Nascar Petty Charger; a kit change just announced

Polar lights does have a replacement policy here... http://round2models.com/replacement/ By the way, there is no package shelf in this car being a NASCAR stocker. -
Casting is fairly easy once you know a few tricks, but I don't suggest any novice jump right in with a full body casting. You might be better off going through one of the casters here to get them done. I can point you to a supplier where you can get the supplies and the amount you need for just over a hundred bucks. If you are dead set on giving it a try, message either Futurabat or Chief Joseph. Both good guys, both experienced casters and they won't steer you wrong.

Yes, but you're also new here, and there's an overriding urge to "catch up". Then there's the thing where one thread leads into another, then someone mentions something that leads to a search and...oh my god! Next thing you know it's four in the morning, there are only about a dozen guys on, all bleary eyed with a cup of coffee in one hand and the mouse in the other clicking blindly away...is there a support group for this sort of thing?

The best advice I got was that all females are crazy. You just have to figure out which one has the least amount -

The only one in the pics above I see that would be stressed during mounting is the Pearson GTO. The rest look like they go on easy, especially the dragster. -

For me it's alot like this forum, although not as much auto history for the asking. If I looked at it as a source of inspiration i'd have a hundred projects going at once! Reference though? Now it's great for that...if I could just remember in what hour of the auction the car I want to reference was in... -
Nicest Drag Rims? Where to go?

If i'm not mistaken, there are wheels like that in the Monogram STP Firebird. -
Ouch! It's tough to combat humidity to begin with, much more so when forced to paint outside. The only suggestion I might have is to get an atomic clock that displays the humidity outside. Then only paint on days with a humidity of 65% or lower. I used to live in Bunnell (flagler county) so I feel your pain. When you buy your a/c unit get one with a built in de-humidifier.

Much the same as lindbergh, depending on the kit it can be great to fair. As with many companies thier airplane kits are superior to most of thier car kits. IIRC I once had a minicraft Mercedes Gullwing kit, that was decently detailed but a tad fussy getting it together so the doors worked. I remember the drivers door never worked right so I displayed it passenger side out.

Bruce, as the saying goes- I hear that with my bad ear! It's all a numbers game an if you ain't got the right number on your door you ain't gettin the right numbers in your bank account!

Jacen got the exact same response, not necessarily in the same words as the above. The question was asked and the press style response was what was given. Maybe Jacen could have presented the statement in different wordage so as not to confuse you? -
Keep in mind it might take a minute. With Daytona looming in just under a month he might be a bit tricky to get to. I didn't think about it before but i'll do what I can.

Question about where to post.
MAGNUM4342 replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I tend to post in the thread that seems most appropriate. If it's a 1/16th scale dragster...I say it can go to either thread, but dragster (in my mind anyway...and it's fragile so let's not mess with it! ) is where I would post a drag kit no matter the scal because to me that overrides the big boy. If it's the Super Charger kit by MPC, even though it has drag elements I would put that in Big Boys. It's a slippery sucker ain't it? -

Harry's question is valid. Maybe it could have been worded differently, but it is very difficult to divine tone or inflection when it's written word rather than spoken face to face. This is why many times I will use caps to emphasize a particular word in hopes that the meaning or inflection is better understood. "WHY are you here?" "Why are YOU here?" "Why ARE you here?" "Why are you HERE?" As you can see the meaning changes with the 'tone' of each sentence. But the typeface itself is not the real issue. The fact remains that we have three or four VERY DIFFERENT people with VERY different mindsets, trying to ride herd over several hundred people at any given time, all with THIER own mindsets. I don't know the artist or the song, but there's a song out there that goes "you can't please everyone soya, got to please yourself". Most of the moderation team are not out to please everyone OR themselves. They are however attempting to please the majority. An insurmountable task if there ever was one. No matter what goes on there are going to be those who feel they are being slighted in favor of others and lets be honest here...NOONE likes to be slighted. There have been many, MANY times I have been unhappy with the moderation team and actually took my leave of this place for an extended period because of certain so called "moderation". I DO NOT agree for one moment with one particular moderator, while at the same time there's another mod that I almost always agree with. Is it a "personality clash?" Maybe so. There's another mod yet, that I have had no problem with, and honestly no interaction whatsoever! Bottom line is, the moderation team here could use a little tempering. They need to STOP and THINK before typing in, every bit as much as those of us on the other side of it are expected to. Harry- You know already that Jacen and myself hold you in fairly high regard. However, maybe your question could have been posed in as calm a 'tone' as the rest of your post. In cases where the bulk of the typeface is in bold such as mine is here, the caps emphasise a word without giving the feeling that yelling is taking place. In a situation such as yours where 99% of the typeface is standard, but the question of "why are you here?" is in bold, it gives the impression you are shouting or angry. Thus is the spark that ignites the tinder already in place. I also feel that as well as presenting themselves more diplomatically, the moderation team could take the time to explain themselves more. Again, without calling out any names, it has been my experience that some mebers of the team will take the time to contact members and let them know WHY a post was moved/deleted/edited. Is this a pain in the proverbial posterior? Sure. Does it diminish the amount of time they have to enjoy, relax and post in topics they enjoy? Sure it does. However...that goes with the territory. It's a job like any other and if you don't enjoy it or don't want to do it because you can no longer enjoy the site as a member does...then quit and let someone else mod. I sincerely hope this makes sense to as many as possible, and that the thread wasn't locked during this long rant because I will truly be upset at the wasted typing! -

You're right to think that way. The clear plastic bodies were brittle and tough to deal with, often cracking while installing to the chassis. It can be done but it's exceptionally tricky. The switch also helps the originals retain thier full collectible value. -
This car was built on a platform very similar to the Dart Sportsman from the mid seventies. In fact IIRC they were almost identical, although I would have to check with Richard to be sure. It was run in only a handfull of LMS events in one year only. As for the Hogan sponsor, your guess is as good as mine, but i'll give him a call and see what I can find out.
