  1. Paint came out great John! B)
  2. A good cheap alternative in clear paints i've been using for years is the clear stains used in suncatcher kits. They dry thin and stay where you put them without running. And, if you have a little one around the house they get to make suncatchers with daddy so...bonus!
  3. Scenes unlimited and Missing Link are two of my favorite companies out there. I only hope I can create a standard close to thiers. Both of them have excellent quality castings and service. MAD (Morgan Automotive Detail) is another one.
  4. Nooooo WAY! I myself wouldn't dream of it unless it was a commissioned build and the buyer asumed all responsibility and I could insure it for full value. Whatever you do, don't even consider USPS, or UPS. The only choice for something like this is Fed-EX. Yes, you'll pay four times the others for the shipping but if I know anything about playing odds and averages I go with Fed-ex every time. Good luck. I sincerely hope this works out for you whatever you decide.
  5. I think you might mean Granatelli red. AKA STP red. Zero paints carries it if you want to go that route. http://www.zero-paints.com/photo-gallery/index.php/Product-Photos/ZeroPaints-march-stp-red-ZP-1136a To duplicate Petty Blue, you'll want to look for Plymouth Corporate blue, or Dodge Basin street blue or Super blue. All three are the same color and one drop away from true Petty Blue.
  6. I know that the boys at Moebius often take more time than expected, because they want to get it right. I would suggest to them that in the future they wait until they have a second to third generation mockup before they even announce a kit. That way we won't spend a year and a half feeling teased.
  7. Yeah, sorry. It occured to me halfway through my message.
  8. Nuff said! (except sorry for the lousy pic)
  9. I can't help you with the front end, but I could suggest that with a little tweaking the Dodge Street Charger would work great for the rear end providing you're doing 1/16th scale...now that I think about it you probably aren't are you?
  10. Let's hope so. can you imagine? Only having to buy printing plastic, 3d renders and never another kit? Uh-oh...waitaminut...
  11. GIMMIE< GIMMIE< GIMMIE!
  12. I agree, nice one Randy! B)
  13. Older bottles of future sometimes do need to be thinned. Just use water with a drop of windex.
  14. As long as you realise I was just yankin your chain. :DBut while we're at it might I make a suggestion? Since you want one to be a Daytona, why not start with a GL kit? If you can hold out till the end of the month i'd be willing to trade two GL's for the Baker kit. (just a suggestion)
  15. I thought I had a can around here but as of yet have not found it. Most hobby supply stores online should have it though. Just remember a couple things when using neons. they are a softer paint than almost all others, so score the tapeline before removing the mask or you could actually tear the neon paint. Neons are notorious for picking up dirt and skin oils as well. Always paint the blue first and then the white base/neon. If you try masking over most neons you'll pull half of it up with the tape. If I find that can i'll come back with the number. EDIT: You want #2939 Model Master. The best part about the testors is that even though it will eat up a couple coats of gloss before you see a significant shine, is that the extra coats of clear do not seem to build up too thick. Follow these few tips and you should do just fine.
  16. http://www.moebiusmodels.com/news.html Click on Tumbler when you get there.
  17. Looking real good. Don't shoot yourself in the foot just yet, it's the new photobucket that's the problem.
  18. I'll third it. Alterations of any kind will affect the value. There are guys out there that will overlook minor changes but they are very few and far between like trees in the desert! (which by the way is why Coyotes run so fast! )
  19. Here are just a few of the '73 car.
  20. Mikes Decals is working up a stunning set of replacement decals for these kits: http://www.randyayersmodeling.com/modelingforum/viewtopic.php?t=76910 Vince, If you are planning the 1973 Charger I can post you a few pics...actually any year Petty Charger, just keep in mind the HEMI engine is only accurate for the 1972-3 cars. Micheal- The STP color on Petty cars is red neon not orange. This is a common misconception due to many late race and post race photos. The neon will fade in a day, but there are many acceptable bright reds that could be used. Don- I can't bear the thought of those two vintage kits not being built as NASCAR's.
  21. Nice work Chuck! By the way, it turned out to be nothing, i'll be calling you soon.
  22. Or how about the original Buick Roadmaster? My uncles, drunker than hootie owls, rolled one into a ditch one night. The seven of them got out, rolled the car back on it's wheels and there wasn't a dent to be found! Those things were tanks and I have to say, I was born about 40 years late for my era! As for the topic at hand, I think Roy was probably very proud of his design even if noone else could see it's worth. There have been thousands of designs through the ages that never even got considered, much less made.
  23. I concur. Mask around them first, then bare metal foil and paint. That way when you trim them out you'll remove the excess foil and paint at once leaving behind a nice crisp edge.
