  1. You're doing exactly what I would suggest.
  2. An additional note. I'd use Tamiya's thinner with their paint, Mr. Color's thinner with their paint, etc. The home brew formulas are what I use for craft paints.
  3. For the thinner, I use 150 ml distilled water, 75 ml 91% isopropyl alcohol, 10 ml Liquitex Slow Dri Retarder and 10 ml Liquitex Flow Aid Flow Improver. I clean the gun with a 90 ml windshield cleaner, 90 ml distilled water, 50 ml 91% isopropyl alcohol and 10 ml glycerin mixture. Experiment thinning your paint till it sprays the way you want it to. Start with 50% paint and 50% thinner. Start with 20 psi for the pressure. It's a learning process with mixing, pressure, hand speed, distance, etc. I like the Anita's brand of craft paint.
  4. Me isn't even a car. I bought a 1/700 scale model of the ship I served on in the Navy. It's the USS Norfolk DL-1. The 1:1 was 540 feet long, the model is about 7" or 8" long. I don't know if I'll ever finish it. My skills are diminishing and the kit is full of tiny photoetch parts. The guy that sold it to me warned me it was for someone with real skills. I thought I could do it but I don't know. I wish I could find someone that could build it for me. I returned to cars about the same time that i bought it. That was 2011. I'd pay someone to build it if they were close to Chattanooga, TN.
  5. I watched a video last night on Barbatos Rex's YouTube channel. He sprayed some Dspiae Chrome Silver Marker from their 10ml refill bottle and it's the best chrome I've seen. It's out of stock though.
  6. A few questions. How much was in the container, what was the cost, what types of paint does it remove and where did you get it? PS the ultimate test is Tamiya lacquer primer.
  7. I like to think that I'm building replicas in scale, not model cars. Yes, they're not toys, so mine are all locked down.
  8. Welcome aboard, Jim.
  9. It's the 29 from the Testors series, Those Famous Fords.
  10. Thanks! The first one may work.
  11. I've started the Lotus and have a question. The wheels in the kit are OK, not great. But the tires are bad. Is there an aftermarket source for the wheels and tires?
  12. I've seen it multiple times.
  13. I'm in the final stages of finishing my BRE 240Z and have lost the grill. ? Does anyone have one they can spare or swap for?
  14. Barbatos Rex seems to like them. He always sprays spoons. I'm curious how well they would work spraying model car bodies, which aren't as easy as spraying a spoon. He bought bottles to transfer the paint into since the lids are terrible.
  15. I believe that's a Seinfeld inspired myth.
  16. What a bad week. First Racquel and now Stella Stevens. Never a huge star, but she was in The Nutty Professor with Jerry Lewis. If you ever saw her in Playboy, you will surely remember her.
  17. The most beautiful women are, for me, if she's a blonde, it's Barbara Eden, if she's a red head, it's Ann Margret and if she's a brunette, it's Raquel Welch. ?
  18. I used to have multiple projects going but decided to try the one at a time approach If I get stuck on something, I might start a new one. I'm at that point right now. I have loads of space but it can get cluttered.
  19. Just wondering if anyone has tried this stuff. If so, what do you think of it? I searched Amazon and it's priced at $9 to $11 per can for 14 ml or 1/2 oz. Hobbylinc's price is really cheap. Looks like you get a good amount for a decent price. Here's a link https://www.hobbylinc.com/cgi-bin/s8.cgi?search_cat_s=&str_s=Revell+tinlets
  20. Take care, Carl. I'm almost 79 and things are getting harder to do for me, as well. I just threw my BRE 240Z into the alcohol pond for the third time. I keep making mistakes. I don't want to give up yet. But I certainly understand your predicament.
  21. Welcome to the forum.
  22. I searched Hobby Lobby and Michael's. Neither has it. What's your source?
  23. What brand and size brush do you use?
  24. I built a XKE molded in red plastic. Used Createx Wicked white as a primer and got zero bleed through.
  25. Nice bird with good details. Have you tried the Createx 4053 yet? It's supposed to be more glossy than the 4050. I've got some 4050 but I used acrylic enamel clear on my last build. Was the 4050 easy to work with?
