  1. Welcome back to the hobby. Nice shop.
  2. Welcome, TJ! A lot of us took the same path as you.
  3. If it's not metallic, you can sand it, but don't polish it. Then shoot your clear and sand and polish it.
  4. Yeah. I bought a 99 Miata Sport to autocross in October 99. The 2000 special edition came out in March 2000. Had to have one so my oldest son bought the 99 and I bought the 2000 SE.
  5. I've asked folks about their worst car so what about the best car you ever had? Way back when, I had a 72 Valiant with a slant 6. Great reliable car with decent gas mileage, for that era. My 2000 Mazda Miata Special Edition was the most fun, outside of my race cars. It was super reliable and got a steady 30 mpg. Wish I still had it but my back wouldn't allow my to climb down in it any longer. Had to sell it. Broke my heart. I'm been driving a 2020 Kia Niro Touring S hybrid since November 2020 and it's pretty nice. Averaging about 48 mpg. Not as sophisticated as the Honda Insight Touring hybrid I traded in for the Kia. That car was really nice. Got about 52 mpg with it. But like the Miata, it was like climbing down into it and had hard seats. Again, it's my back that forced that trade. The Kia has a 10 way adjustable drivers seat. Super comfortable and a little sporty with 18" wheels and wider tires. The Miata has to be the best (most fun) street ride though.
  6. The description says it's for fabrics. Let us know what you discover. I'm experimenting with Anita's brand right now. Goes on pretty smooth, thinned 1:1 with isopropyl alcohol.
  7. Great looking replica. The Prisoner is one of my all time favorite shows. It can be watched on IMDB TV or Tubi TV.
  8. Sounds like you went through quite an ordeal but the results are great looking.
  9. I use a small dab of museum putty stuck to the end of a piece of sprue. Cheap, stays sticky and you can place the smallest pieces with it. Hobby Lobby carries it and I think it's less than $5 for a lifetimes worth.
  10. Welcome Darryl!
  11. She was great in that role. RIP Liz.
  12. A different kind of comic. RIP Gilbert
  13. Yeah, get some 3 ml pipettes. Lots of folks spray at different pressures. I shoot everything at 20 psi, adjusted with the airbrush valve opened. That's usually about 22 psi closed. I get too much orange peel at higher pressures. But, that's just my preference. I've got a Paasche H that I use on non-body parts and for primer on bodies. #1 tips for touch up work and #3 for everything else. I scribe a mark on each of the tips as a reference point to open the valve/tip the same amount each time. Usually 1 1/2 to 2 rotations. I use my PS-290 for the color coats on the bodies.
  14. Also, I'm not sure what equipment you are using, but I always take my spray gun apart after every use. I use a Procon PS-290 which is an internal mix gun, so I have to. One other thing I do is cover the bottle opening with Press and Seal and put the cap on without the factory seal. I use a power stirrer too. I mix paint and thinners in small plastic cups.
  15. Strain you paint through a disposable filter too.
  16. Great job, I love that color. Which kit is it?
  17. Yeah, he was a Philly guy.. I was born in Germantown.
  18. A few of you might remember that name. He was 79.
  19. It was my understanding that Testors was out of the paint business. The bottles don't have any sort of brand name on them. I'm just curious. I read it here on the world wide, so it must be true. ?
  20. I thought Testors and Model Master were history.
  21. Just saw a list of the worst cars GM ever built and the Vega was #4. I had one back in the 70s. It was a station wagon but with no windows in the sides except for the driver and passenger windows. It was a 74 and was dead by 1978. What a POS that thing was. A friend bought a Chevette and it was about as bad as the Vega.
  22. Their description says Testors. Do they have a warehouse full of the stuff? https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Model-Kits/Paint-Brushes/Testors-Enamel-Paint/p/PT25150#
  23. Title says it all. Looks like the same stuff to me. Chinese source, maybe?
  24. He didn't know whether to zip up or catch her!
