Happy birthday, Snake!

I received a nice compliment here on the forum recently because I'm 78 and still trying to build model cars. So that got me thinking, who's the oldest person actually still building on this forum? I turned 78 in May.

Thanks. Well, I'm trying. I've messed up as many as I've finished over the last 12 years. That's how long I've been back in the game.

I've had cataract surgery on both eyes a couple of years. ago. I've got so many lights up, my hobby area looks like Broadway.

I do those things, as well. Yeah, it's the coupe. Building a replica of the car one of my professors had when I was in college. Got to ride in it once. What a thrill. He sold me my first dirt bike after I graduated and we rode together some. He's gone now. Those were some good times.

I'm working on a XKE. The dash has a bazillion small decals. My shaky 78 year old hands make this a particularly difficult task. What are some tricks for making this a little easier?

I'm a cat person. Loved the 3 German Shepherd dogs we had but the two cats we had were just great. I still miss them so much. Our neighbor just made a trip with her two children to the Galapagos Islands for a week and we cared for her cat Rooney. I've grown really attached to him. He's an older cat but still very agile and can leap up into a tall chair easily. I just love him. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Welcome EAK! Like you, my area for race cars became my area for model cars. Built my own spray booth too. What kind of racing were you doing? I ran sports cars in SCCA and finally vintage racing with Vintage Drivers Club of America.

I meant 1.05 mm but not on bodies. The #1 is 0.45 mm and the #3 is 0.75 mm. These are Paasche H sizes. I also use a Creos PS-290 with a fan spray tip and a 0.5 mm nozzle. Have I confused everyone enough? ?

It depends on what air brush you're using. I typically use something around 0.5 mm.

One thing I'd like to add to this discussion is Tamiya primer is really hard to remove, if you need to. IPA will remove most paints but Tamiya primers are like granite. I haven't found anything that will completely remove it easily.

? Been there, done that. I still experiment though. Rustoleum acrylic enamel clear works over stuff like Createx and some craft paints.

I use thick double sided tape attached to bamboo skewers.

I don't believe they're talking about the actual temperature of the paint, they're talking about the chemical properties being too strong for the plastic and etching or "melting" the plastic.

Yes, it goes back up a couple of psi. That's to be expected.
