  1. I know what you mean. In spring 1994, I turned in early at turn 7 at Road Atlanta and stuffed a vintage Zink Formula Vee into the inside dirt wall. ?
  2. Well, I was in Hobby Lobby and saw this, so I sprang for it. I'm going to try to paint it in the original 1965 Jaguar pale yellow. We'll see how it turns out.
  3. I'm building a replica of my last vintage race car and can't find or scratch build a suitable set of mirrors. There are 3 mirrors. The one on the right side is round and the ones in the center and left side are oval with flat bottoms. Here's some pictures of the 1:1. Hopefully, someone knows a good source. Your eyes aren't fooling you, yes, it's right hand drive.
  4. I don't remember when I started this project but it's probably been close to 2 years or more. One way or another, I messed the paint up twice and had to send it back to the pond. So this is my third go at creating a scale replica of my last vintage race car. My avatar is a shot of it from 2003 at Virginia International Raceway. The color is Scale Finishes Acapulco Blue over Tamiya primer. The cage, battery box and dash layout are scratch built as well as the windscreen. The only thing left to do is locate a source for the mirrors and attach them. I've bought a clear case to mount on the front of the original steering wheel when it's done. I'll post more pics when I get to that point. Here's what I've gotten accomplished this time around plus another pic of the 1:1.. It's far from perfect but when you're pushing 80, it is what it is.
  5. Do you have any brand names? I've used Createx with some success.
  6. I gave about 50 bottles of it to my granddaughter who was getting into art. I've never had any luck with cheap craft acrylics. OK for interiors but that's it. I've had luck with Createx, which isn't anything like the craft stuff. Actually, I'm not really sure that it's an acrylic.
  7. I've heard Don't Look Up is this generations Dr. Strangelove, which is one of my favorite movies. I need to watch Don't Look Up.
  8. Uh, I posted that last April.
  9. I've watched It's a Wonderful Life every Christmas eve for over 30 years. Started on VHS, went to DVD and will stream it this year.
  10. I'm looking for a small case for a single car. It's an AH Sprite and it's only 2" high, 2 1/2 wide and 5 1/2" long. Anyone know a source for something like that?
  11. Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer? ?
  12. If they really used an authentic XKE, may a thousand fleas find a hiding place in their underwear.
  13. A Christmas Story It's a Wonderful Life
  14. I bought the Ultra Quiet compressor from Harbor Freight. Does the job and it really is quiet.
  15. IMHO, the best starter airbrush is the Paasche H. Affordable and versatile. I've had other airbrushes and still seem to go back to the H. It just works for me.
  16. I think those temps will play havoc with the decals.
  17. I think you're correct.
  18. USS Norfolk DL-1. I forgot who made the kit. I've got all the parts (ASROC launcher, 7" deck mounts. etc.) to fit it like it was when I was aboard (63-66).
  19. I'm wanting to build the XKE roadster and FHC. One of my professors in college had a yellow FHC. I got a ride in it once. A thrill of a lifetime on par with a chance to drive a friends 427 Cobra replica once. So which XKEs are better, the Heller or the Revell?
  20. If you're attaching the interior to the metal body, use epoxy.
  21. I've got a 1/700 scale model of the ship I served on in the Navy that I'm still looking for someone to build.
  22. What ratio of thinner blend to paint do you use?
  23. I use them for interiors and the brand doesn't matter much there. I'm curious if anyone has used them enough on bodies and found that they prefer one brand over another and why?
  24. I've used empty Jif peanut butter containers.
