Scale I Build

  1. I was going thru my build ups that have been packed away and I found this... Old prescription bottles make great wheel tubs. My brother told me about this years ago. Stay tuned...
  2. Here's my 1994 Snake Bite Monster Truck. I started this when I was a kid over 20 years ago. I stopped after I glued up the engine, and after some of the body was painted. I decided to finish the kit for a model contest. Sadly, Snake Bite didn't win, but it took 3 months to build and detail it. I built it with the body able to come off. So I can remove the hood/cab or just the box. The hood has all the scales/ridges outlined black to show thru the transparent red paint.I also switched out the metal axles since they were short and couldn't hold the weight of the tires. I used a coat hanger and that works just right to support the tires weight and is now long enough to work. I ended using the one of the axles on my Graffiti coupe since the plastic bars couldn't fit since they were too short over the motor. I filled in the gap for the grill with a cut piece of the spare hood for the Graffiti coupe. This is probably going to be my last monster truck since I forgot how much I hate kits with frames. Monster trucks now fail in the pain in the kits to build with dragsters, and NASCAR cars. .
  3. Hi Guys I am a brazilian modeler and new in the car modeling universe. I´d like to build the 1979 Ford Bronco as seen in the 240 Robert TV show. I am using the 1/24 Monogram ´80 Ford Bronco 2 ´n 1 model kit but the tires and wheels are not accurate. Could you please tell me where to get the correct set? Many Thanks in advance
  4. This is another one of my older models I have restored. Scott
  5. This is one of my first models I built when when i was in seventh grade . I have restored it about five year ago . This model is about 43 years old . Scott
  6. What is the most accurate '73 to '87 kit out there? I just bought a Revell '77 GMC Wrecker Truck and was far less than impressed. The visor, sunroof, mirror holes, and incorrect rear window lower edge make this cab unuseable. Not to mention the cast-in engine block... However it was worth the price of admission for the one ton wheels and tires. Those are particularly difficult to source. What other pickups are out there which are more correct? I want to stay as stock as possible. I have the most interest in 1973 to '80 model years, prefer a 2WD if there is one, and I am okay with kit bashing. New guy here, so I hope I am not rehashing a question that has been answered before. But in my defense, I did multiple searches here and did not find the topic.
  7. Hello! This was my first kit that I completed. All comments and feedback appreciated.
  8. This here is a model my Dad had been tinkering with every now and then for the past few years. His hands hurt a little to much to enjoy building and he's very busy with work and life type stuff so he offered to me last week to either part out or scrap all together. Naturally I'm doing neither, instead I'm going to tear it down and re-build/restore it for him as a late Father's Day present. Going in a Overhaulin' style with it, he knows it's happening but won't really get to see it until it's finished. I'll be taking a few idea's he's thrown around for his 1:1 Suburban and add few of my own in as well. The end result will be something along the lines of a Overhaulin'/ Fast & Furious/ resto-mod type'ish (lots of "ish" in there) custom truck. Some of the idea's are as follows. The one big thing he'd like to see is the bare metal finish that's becoming quite popular. Got a plan that proved to be very promising. But I'm open to hearing ideas too, backup plans are always good to have. It's going bumper less. Among some of the ideas he's tossed around for his 1:1 removing the bumpers has been something he mentions often so I'll be applying that to this build. Changing the tail light set up in the back. Not going with the usual Corvette treatment, instead I'll go with a tail light design he's very found of and that's the '67 GTO's quad light. Big horsepower, naturally. Swapping the Standard 283 small block with the 396 big block out of the '67 Pro-street Chevelle. Tossing a supercharger on it to for good measure. Custom grill and a few other ideas that I'm still working out. I was initially hoping to have it done before Father's Day but 7 days in and I'm still doing body work. There's a ton more to be done after that and as nice as it would be I'm not going to rush it, I want to do it right and to the very best of my ability. Picture time. Starting point: Believe it or not that color is that $1.29 bottle paint in Wal-Marts craft section, brushed on even. That stuff's not half bad. Rims will also be getting stripped due to the paint and scratches on them. After stripping. Removed the grill mounts to make room for the custom grill. Removed the gas cap and side trim for a smooth body. Will also be bodying in the door handles as the handles themselves are missing. Lower plate for the back with the GTO style lights. And after the first round of body work, starting on the second round. Thanks for looking, more to come.
  9. Does anyone know of a 37 Dodge pickup kit..
  10. Hi there ! I've built my first kit from Moebius models, and that was very cool ! Here is my last creation, a rusty farm truck. This is a 1971 Ford F100 Ranger XLT, 1/25 scale. The truck is built as a rusty farm truck. The owner got this Ford since 1979, and still drive it. It has a lot of rust on the body, but runs good ! The passenger door has been replaced, by a standard F100 door, there are no chrome moldings. The body is dirty and rusty. Two hubcaps are missing, so the owner has put the two other ones on the same side. If we take a look on the interior, we could see a mexican cover on the bench :
  11. Revell '55 Ford panel van painted with Model Masters black lacquer & clear. Homemade decals, scratch built shifter with "8 ball" knob, wired engine. Also added a stained, decaled, & clearcoated wooden barrel. I made this one to sit on my basement bar.
  12. My next project. These trucks were assembled as kits from parts that were sold upon the closing of Winross several years ago. I bought them at the Toledo show around that time. They are 1/64 scale diecast. The first one is an Autocar crane truck. This is the White 3000 with a utility service type bed. This White is an original old one missing the cab. I bought a new cab for it. I am debating on vacuum forming some windows for them although Winross never did.
  13. Had an issue with the cab trying to get it on the chassis which caused much cursing, but it finally came out looking great.
  14. Just started this one. I fell like messing with different plastic right now, I plan to use some Caddy avalanchy interior and stereo equipment. Hoping all goes well to plan...
  15. Model Kings Camper set. Im going with a 1964 Chevy pick up Truck, I've cut out the truck and camper to make it a pass thru. The chassis and truck body is nearly finished, it's getting the matching truck bed as a trailer, And a bit of a Corvette theme.
  16. So i will be using a revell silverado to make a 4x4. well i wanted IFS not solid front axle so its correct. Well AMT Escalade is 4x4. I took a gamble and got this. This will turn into the silverado topic once im started on it. Need to do some trimming though. Not perfect but works for me
  17. Hi Gang, what your seeing is my trailer collection, some came from a set, some my head, So I hope they all go together soon, stayed tuned! Jon http://s24.photobucket.com/user/jonjon75/slideshow/Models
  18. My last work, a K-123 from the AMT kit. The guy who ordered it to me wanted this truck, white and rusty. So I made it at my sauce This kit isn't easy to assemble, no numbers on sprues, a lot of parts don't fit well... I don't like this kit but I had pleasure to make the weathered body and the details. Well, time to show some pictures ! Photos of the interior soon ! Leave your comments
  19. Fooling around with a Chevy bed on this Datsun..... V8, possibly?
  20. Ok here's another project that i've had in my stash for over a year and brought it out occasianly when i got in the mood to work on it. I had bought the resin cab 54 abd removed the grille and was gonna chrome it and work on the resin cab, but after looking at it i decided why not try and use the 50 chevy cab for better plastic fitment and make my own 54. So little by little i had worked on it from an old spare 50 cab i had and started from the grille work back. So today i brought in with me to work and got back into it. Here is were i'm at on it so far. Reworking the front fenders, windshield, upper vent and fixing some cracks the cab had. I will also be making the correct rear bed sides as the 54 had them flat tops.
  21. Hey guys this is my first post in a long time, but does anybody know where I could source some 8 lug dually wheels to go on the monogram f250 kit. I am looking to turn his into some sort of service truck or something, and I certainly can't use the 5 LUG wheels that came with the kit. Seriously what were they thinking. Anyways would a dually cab and chassis truck like the one I plan to build have a solid front axle, or the independent suspension that came on the truck. If it is supposed to be solid axle could I just fabricate one from styrene? Thanks.
  22. This was on the workbench a while ago, but I'll consider it done. I took it apart about a week ago, for new taillights and a general look-over and new wheels.
