cobraman Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Hey Carl ! Gotta go out in the garage and take a close look at the body pretty soon. I think then I will have to put the kit away for a couple weeks and start something else. I have the chassis pretty much done including the engine. The interior just about done. Have to wait till the dash dries good to detail it because I used the same paint.
cobraman Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 We have paint !!!!! Finally a paint job I can live with. It took 3 times but I got it ! Now to put it away for a time till I can shoot some clear on it. I'm glad I stayed with it because I really like this color on this car.
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 Great color and shine. Sure looks like it was worth the effort to me.
cobraman Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 Thanks gents. Now if the clear will go on nice when it's ready. : )
Dave Ambrose Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 What is the color? I'm thinking it would be a great color for a couple of projects in my queue.
Crazy Ed Posted June 3, 2015 Posted June 3, 2015 The results reflect the effort Ray. Very Nice finish and what a wonderful Color for that Car.
cobraman Posted June 3, 2015 Author Posted June 3, 2015 Thanks guys. Here's the color Dave. If you use it I hope you have better luck with it than I did.
cobraman Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 Thank you, I'm glad too. Now if I don't screw up the clear.
Nitrozilla Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 I like that color on that body. Best wishes for all to go well with the clear.
cobraman Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 Thanks. Should be dry in another week............ or a month. : )
Eric Macleod Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Ooo La La! I really like the color. I have a friend here in Michigan who has a 1:1 version of this car in the same color. His is sort of a beater. It only scored 99.75 points last time it was out. Slacker. You might look at reference photos but I think most '41 Continentals have gold toned interior plating. That would sure pop with your tan interior. I like your model a lot. Well done.
Dominik Posted June 5, 2015 Posted June 5, 2015 Great color and shine. Sure looks like it was worth the effort to me. agreed! what rims are this? they will look fine on it thought
cobraman Posted June 5, 2015 Author Posted June 5, 2015 Thank you guys. I have seen photos with both gold and silver dash treatments. Rims are stock from the kit. Just checked on the body. Paint not dry enough to handle yet. I will let it sit at least until I finish the Cobra I am working on.
misterNNL Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 (edited) I definitely think the finished paint was worth the extra effort you put into it. Can we see more of those other custom coupes the commenters posts please? There was some nice work going on there. Edited June 15, 2015 by misterNNL
bobthehobbyguy Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Ray you inspired me to finish up a Lincoln I had started awhile back. Painted it with Tamiya champagne gold. I've had an issue with the dash intfering with getting the interior tub to fit right. Had to shave the top of the dash to get it to fit properly. Not sure if its the kit or something I messed up.
