High octane Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Some things are not meant to be...................................................
Erik Smith Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 The link goes to an AMT 1968 El Camino for $89...? There is one directly below for buy it now of $22.59.
mikemodeler Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 That kit is not a $90 kit, no matter how bad you want it. I am sure Fred Sterns, Deans' Hobby Stop or The Model Empire has one for a lot less!
chunkypeanutbutter Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Maybe the box is full of 22lr ammo? Throw the model kit at him, it'd do more damage. (joke)
Mooneyzs Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 (edited) What the heck is that seller smoking .... At Least the shipping is free Edited June 22, 2015 by Mooneyzs
Snake45 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Maybe the box is full of 22lr ammo? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! How much .22LR could you get in a 1/25 model car box? Pretty sure 1000 rounds would go easily, not so sure about 2000 rounds, prolly somewhere in between, call it 1500. Wasn't all THAT long ago I was buying 1500 rounds of .22 every Saturday at Walmart for under $30. We'll never see those days again, I fear.
Harry P. Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Wasn't all THAT long ago I was buying 1500 rounds of .22 every Saturday at Walmart ... For what?

If you empty the boxes into the it box it'll probably hold more like 2200-2300.
1930fordpickup Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 For what? Practice. Around here we do not have to use a 9MM for everything like they do in the Windy City.

cobraman Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Oh God, a Hi Point ? .22's are great for target shooting, plinking and small game hunting not to mention practice. Low cost ( when you can find them anymore) and pretty quite and not much recoil.
Snake45 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 For what? Ummmm...for shooting. Duh? For a while there, I was shooting 25K a year, and I've got the records to prove it. Can't afford to do that at today's prices. Took a couple pics of SOME of the empty boxes one year before I pitched them, just in case anyone ever doubted me.
Tom Geiger Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Whoa! This thread went downhill to firearms and ammo real fast! If you want an Elkie for $89, I got ya covered! I'll even supply multiple copies!
Chuck Most Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 Well, judging from the way the thread title started out, I was assuming it was something to do with pirates...
martinfan5 Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015  $89 for an AMT kit?, you got to be kidding me
AzTom Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I don't think the OP was serious ............ at least I hope not.
impcon Posted June 22, 2015 Author Posted June 22, 2015 No - I wasn't serious - just sickened by..?? greed???? stupidity...??? wishful thinking....??? I see a fair amount of that sort of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH on Ebay where the greed factor has gone into hyperdrive with a lot of sellers...... Sometimes I'm tempted to email sellers like that one and say something - but I can't think of anything nice to say... except that if that seller isn't on drugs - he should be ...... I'll leave it at that...
Tom Geiger Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I knew the OP wasn't serious from the moment I read his comments! There is this eBay phenomena where things do get sold at astronomical prices. Sellers post them and hope that someone who doesn't know the market will see it and buy it. That happens when kits pop up in people's real car parts searches. The guy is looking for parts for his El Camino and, oh wow, there's a kit of my car. He may not have the eBay skills to search and sort to see others like it, or he's a newbie who just assumes he's stumbled onto the only one in existence. And bam! one of those 'going fishing for morons' sellers has sold a kit. In this instance, the seller seems to be some generic sales type company. Check out their other items. Everything from flower pots to kids toys, so chances are they have no clue what they are selling. And note that it is not sold in case someone is feeling silly!
