tomsheehy Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Revell low rider kit, built as a stock Monte with a wheel/tire swap. Revell really should have offered this kit as a full build, or at least with stock options in their snapper. I chose to paint it Chevy Victory red, as I had a friend back in the day whose father had one this color combo. I resisted the urge to use rally wheels, and opted for a set of aluminum wheels from the AMT 70 Impala kit that were very close to the aluminum wheel used on the 77s. Tires are American Staco whitewalls. This is still a great looking car today.
bbowser Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Wow, that is sharp. Nice color combo. Used to see these by the dozens back in the day. It really does deserve a full kit.
gardnerpag44 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Nice build really looks great in those colors , nice work
ZIL 111V Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Superb model of a beatiful 70s cardesign, indeed still geat looking today, reminds me of my dads brand new'77 in FireThorn red
unclescott58 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Looks great! Exact opposite color scheme of a '78 Monte I once owned. By the way Revell has offered the kit in more recent editions as a more "stock" version of the car, with stock Chevy Rally wheels. I'm still debating on how I'm going to build mine. Do I build it white with a red interior and red landau roof like the '78 I owned? Or dark blue with a white interior and top? Closer to what I would have wanted to ordered and own back in the day. Any how, nice job on yours Tom. Scott
Scalper Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Right from the show room. Looks great. That red is bright.
Olskoolrodder Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 NICE conversion (from lowrider to stocker),and you're right,it IS still a good looking car, nicely done!

DRIPTROIT 71 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I like this build. It's nice to see someone willing to build a grocery getter. Seen and fixed a lot of these in 1:1 back in the day. This is my kind of build. Great Work!!!
om617 Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Really nice and clean Monte Carlo. Agree on the full detail.
