Mr Stock Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Hey all, latest one of the bench for me is this Revell Germany Volkswagen golf GTi Mk1 kit. Great kit to put together, everyting fits perfect, I did make a couple of mistakes but they are hard to see luckily ! I painted the car rattle can white, all the decals come in the kit, and I made custom UK numberplates, the number used was actually from the first car I owned a 1977 Ford Fiesta not a VW....Sshh dont tell ! Comments and constructive critisism welcomed Oh and only the one door mirror ?, thats the way they came form the factory from new ..two mirrors were an option.
jaymcminn Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Very, very nice. I love a mk1 GTI and yours looks great in white... reminds me of the classic Wheeler Dealers episode! I'm still not sure why Revell didn't include the Pirelli alloys as well as the steelies, though...
Zarana-X Posted August 12, 2015 Posted August 12, 2015 Looks great. The passenger door mirror was always an option on small cars. Not sure when it became standard, but I have a '96 Tercel and it only has the driver's side mirror.
Twokidsnosleep Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Nice clean build, very realisticHave been eyeing up a neighbours's red MRkI as possible first car for my son.....fixer upper mind youyour model looks better!!!
PatW Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Super build Gary, very realistic and yes you only needed a drivers side mirror in those days! Whereas nowadays you need them all over to watch out for other drivers!
Mr Stock Posted August 13, 2015 Author Posted August 13, 2015 Thanks for all the very kind comments everyone
Phildaupho Posted August 13, 2015 Posted August 13, 2015 Very nice. I especially like the engine compartment and plaid seats. I assume there is right hand steering option. I had a red 1980 Canadian GTI badged as a Rabbit. It was basically a standard fuel injection 5-speed with the European looking body trim and interior. It was a great little car. Mine had a sunroof, Scirocco style alloy wheels and two mirrors
kilrathy10 Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 (edited) This is beautiful work.....The hot hatch revolution begins.....Amazing photography, as well.... Edited August 14, 2015 by kilrathy10
