MGL Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 (edited) This is an old build, I think its the Tamiya kit. Since these pictures I have redone the trim in BMF. Edited August 31, 2015 by MGL Mispelled title
Tom Geiger Posted August 30, 2015 Posted August 30, 2015 Nice build. I like the darker color and the fact that you just built an every man car! BTW, Volkswagon is spelt Volkswagen...German spelling of wagen.

BTW, Volkswagon is spelt Volkswagen...German spelling of wagen. Thanks Tom, you would think I would get it right, my Dads shop specialized in VW's, the first engine I ever rebuilt was a VW, and my wife drove VW's exclusively until our daughter was born. Now if I can just figure out how to edit a title.
uncle potts Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Looks just like the one my mom had. Sure is purdy.
Guest Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 That is really nice. Hard to do smooth black paint, and you nailed it.
bismarck Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Nice VW!! I owned 2 of the 1:1 ones over the years, but never one that looked that good. Great job!!
disabled modeler Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 very nice work....one of the cleanest builds I have seen of one.
Lunajammer Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Looks like the first bug I ever rode in as a kid (neighbor's car). You did a great job. Edited August 31, 2015 by Lunajammer
Harry P. Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Man, that is some slick looking black paint! Beautiful!
christian-w Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Nice color and a beautiful paint job! Like it
AzTom Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Very nice, My first car was a black 56 VW. Is this one black or dark green?
unclescott58 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I too agree. Very nice job. I love those old rear engined Volkswagens.
PatW Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Great looking Beetle, I'm a great lover of these. We've had five Beetles in our family over a number of years, and I still want another.
Sean W Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Nice job Tom. I too love the dark green color. I really want to add a Beetle, and the Karmann Ghia to my "showroom".
MGL Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 Wow, looking at the pictures it sure does look black doesn't it. Its actually a dark green, I don't remember the exact color but I do remember it was my first time using Tamiya spray paint and being impressed with how well it laid down. I also did this when it was cold out and I always have better luck in the cold. My Dads body shop ran cold too so that was how I learned how to paint 1/1 cars. Thank you for all the kind words and now I have to get another one of these kits and paint it black!
charlie8575 Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 I could see the green. Looks nice. I've toyed off and on with a Beetle for a putt-putt around town- easy to fix, cheap to run, and they sound cool.Charlie Larkin
