Jeff Johnston Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) This is the VERY fiddly Ferrrari 512S. This is a Heller kit in a union box... This was an exercise in patience but very fun and rewarding build. I built this back in the late 80s and always wanted to do another one. It only took almost 30 years but I finally did '' The pipes just didn't fit and I really struggled to get them to look half way descent. In the end this was a challenge but I'm happy to see it on the shelf. Edited September 2, 2015 by Jeff Johnston
Miatatom Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Nice work! I've got one of those in my stash that I'll tackle someday.
GlueTube Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Nice job, especially given the nature of the Heller product of that era. I have one and the engine cover is badly warped. How was your kit for warpage?RegardsBrian Kroon
aurfalien Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Wow, this is my language!Totally bitchen and a historically wonderful racerI have this kit but from Fujimi. Do you think its a simple re issue of the Heller kit or a bit more refined in terms of fit?

Do you think its a simple re issue of the Heller kit or a bit more refined in terms of fit?I'm almost sure that the Fujimi kit is a straight reissue of the Heller. Testors also issued the Heller kit in their box back in the 80s. As far as I know this is the only 512S kit.

Crazy Ed Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Nicely done Jeff. Protar and Wave also released 512s's

AC Norton Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 ........a difficult build, some GT sports car kits like this are tough to get right....yours is very nice, for sure........the Ace.......
ferrarijoe Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Great build. Was thinking of getting one of these. But since you said it has fit issues think I'll save for MFH one. But you still did an outstanding job.
Dave B Posted September 5, 2015 Posted September 5, 2015 Nice build of a difficult kit Jeff, I know having built one 30 odd years ago myself Dave B
