Aaronw Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Kind of a shock to me, I actually finished a kit in the same year I started it, might be a shock to others, it's not red or green. Nice kit, I had a terrible time with the paint having to strip and redo 3 times but the kit itself was very cooperative until the end. All the chrome and the glass wind wings during final assembly are very fiddly and a real pain. On the side pipes I was going for a hot steel look, I used jet exhaust layered with thinned Tamiya clear yellow, orange and blue on the header ends, Games Workshop Chain Mail on the pipes and Games Workshop Mithril Silver on the tips. Then rubbed the whole thing with Hawkeye steel metalizing powder and last gave it a black wash using thinned oil paint. First time trying that technique but I think it more or less gives the look of repeatedly heated steel. Monogram Shelby Cobra 427SC
SfanGoch Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 I love this kit. Great work, Aaron. Good choice on the color. The technique you used on the pipes is convincing.
afx Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 Those look like pretty nice wire wheels. Good work.
mustang1989 Posted September 3, 2015 Posted September 3, 2015 (edited) I think I posted to you over at another forum on this one but it sure deserves another. Good stuff Aaron! Edited September 3, 2015 by mustang1989
Mad Viking Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Nice job. Love the exhaust. Can't wait to build mine.
Aaronw Posted September 5, 2015 Author Posted September 5, 2015 Thanks it was a mostly fun kit to build, I've had quite a dry spell in finishing anything so I'm hoping it is just the first in a line of completed kits.
