my66s55 Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 It's been a year since I posted the first prints off of my high def 3d printer I build. Since that time, I have been able to do some amazing things with it. These spark plugs are an example. In the first pic are three scales. The largest is 1:8th or larger. The ones on the left are 1:16th. The ones on the right are 1:24th/25th. The ones in these two pics are the 1:16th & 1:24th/25th.
bbowser Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Very cool. You have persevered with this new technology. Please keep us in the loop with your progress.
MeatMan Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Very nice work. A lot of us think that 3DP will be a game changer for our hobby, and guys like you will help get it there.
Erik Smith Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Now, if you could just figure out how to focus your camera...
Joe Handley Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Now, if you could just figure out how to focus your camera... Uuuuhhhhhh, yeah. The 1/16 and 1/24-1/25 scale plugs look more like rifle rounds in those pics.
my66s55 Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 (edited) These are very tiny parts. Here is the stl. which should help you see what you are looking at Edited December 29, 2015 by my66s55
Foxer Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Here's the problem ... I can make my 3D CAD model of an amoeba look very well detailed with just a simple render. This post seems to be about a 3D printed object ... and we all ARE interested in how well your printer did with these spark plugs. An object this small requires a well focused camera, large depth of field and the ability to focus close. You should have been able to detect that your photos really tell us nothing about the quality of your printed spark plugs. Check your camera manual for close focusing as many have an adjustment. If your camera isn't capable of close focusing see if a friend has one that could do it. I know many here are interested in seeing how well these look and I would really like to see your results, so please try for some photos that reflect what you wanted to show us.
peteski Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 If you send me a sample I can take some good photos (with a ruler for reference) and post them here. To give you an idea (and I can get much closer):
