Lizard Racing Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 The IMC Chaparral 2E and the AMT (?) Porsche 907L. I made my own racecars out of these and now they are gone.
Mr Stock Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Id love to be able to get the Tamiya Ford Sierra XR4i and Cosworth RS500 kits again for sensible money, they were some of the first kits I built way back but these days the prices have gone a bit high for me.
Edsel-Dan Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 I still have some of those Oldies I buolt Back then,But Two I Wish I did still haveMISSION: IMPOSSIBLE Coronet Convert!!!& Vampire Machine 70 Impala Convert!!Have the grill from the Impala, NOTHING from the M:I Coronet! I think I have a 67/68 Chrysler 300 and a similar issue Cadillac Convert, as I havesome of the Hubcaps from them that were in the old Toy box from my old bedroomI am not sure where many of the models went when we moved in 71. Would love to find the Complete builts of my Wacky Racer's kits. I have most ofPenelope Pitstop's Compact Pussycat, but Not Dick Dasterdly's Mean Machine! Also had 4 of the AMT All Star 1/32's, but Not sure of someHave the glue-Bomb's of the 63 Vette & Avanti I did back then, but,.....Wish I could remember the other 2Was a Cereal Mail in offer!!Another was a Fireboat from Tony The Tiger (I THINK that is where I ordered it from!!)I do have the upper deck piece, but Nothing else So how did I save the Turista Turismo, El Ranchero Grande & Boondock Bomberbuilds???? I have seen many here call these Craftsman kits, But the Turista was the complete kit With Engine!!!Maybe Some of the Customizing parts were deleted, but, it was NOT a Curbside/craftsman type kit!!!Always thought the Dual-Quad aircleaner was 2 piece, but instructions I have seen fromOriginal Annual sow it as One piece!! I believe we got the Boondock Bomber just after seeing the Pilot episode of ADAM-12Big scene in that was the Pursuit if a 59 Buick!!We also got the red, & Police versions of Husky's Matchbox size 59 Buick too!!!!

My brother has the Wacky Racer one that looks like a old house..just needs to find tires for it...I think there really cool myself. Me I love the Craftsman curbside kits and others/promos/Johan snaps/promo like stuff. Maybe you could make a 70 Impala convertible from the HT kit with some work..?
Mike999 Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 A few weird/foreign wishes:ERTL International-Harvester 1466 farm tractor - they reissued the Deere 4430 and Backhoe. Why not this one? I have a built one missing the door, with a broken front axle. Sure would like a new one. It would really be nice if they reissued the colorful "1976 Bicentennial" version.ESCI Toyota Kenia Safari (yep, that's what the box-top says) "Savannah Master" - Early 80's Toyota BJ-44 Land Cruiser with roof rack, jerry cans, spare tires, etc. I'd also like to see the bonkers "Philippine Taxi" Toyota re-issued, though I have a couple of them. The basic kit was reissued a couple of years ago with a .50 caliber machine gun, but without the hardtop.ESCI Range Rover, British/Dutch Police - included chassis/interior parts for right or left-hand drive, and specific police gear/decals for the two countries.ESCI Ford Transit Van - any version, but the Hertz would be really nice. I've heard a rumor that the Transits were sort of like the AMT 1911 Chevy - commissioned by Ford for one run only, then the molds were destroyed.A search turned up this:From "Ford Transit: Fifty Years" by Peter Lee: "In the early 1980s Ford Europe commissioned ESCI, an Italian firm, to make a plastic kit of a short-wheelbase van in 1:24 scale. It too has become highly collectable and today brings more than (100 pounds) if you are lucky enough to find one. Two thousand were made. The design on the box in which it came showed the new van in red, matching its appearance in the first brochures, although the full-sized van was not finally available in that color. ESCI sent a larger 1:12 scale model to Ford in 1985 to get their approval for the product."https://books.google.com/books?id=CbbzCQAAQBAJ&pg=PT458&lpg=PT458&dq=esci+1/24+ford+transit+-ebay&source=bl&ots=C_eMUGzo-J&sig=YzZZbwA7hmzM2tr_6wDywOlxIhs&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiIiaH8-JLKAhUDxWMKHT7tAMYQ6AEISDAJ#v=onepage&q=esci%201%2F24%20ford%20transit%20-ebay&f=falseMPC Jeepsters with the police, snow-plow and "Safari" parts.

Some of these old Ford pick up trucks, not sure about exact year,60-63 maby. 64 Plymouth Fury hardtop. The '60 Buick & Edsel hardtops can be especially hard to find.I built them both & in each case I bought convertibles & later got lucky enough to find nice hardtop bodies to switch out with the convertible bodies. The '58 Ford & the '61 Ford Starliner are a couple others that are hard to find in a hardtop body.I still have yet to find a good '58 Ford hardtop, although I really haven't been in the hunt lately. Steve Pretty much give up on the Buick and Edsel, usually when i do that they pop up everywhere Speaking of the 58,there is a decent one now on feebay with a low starting bid.

lordairgtar Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Oh wow!! let me think. MPC's Howmet coupe. Any of the 1/32nd scale offerings of AMT like the Avanti, T-bird, Mustang, 32 Ford, et cetera. Any of the Renwal 66 Revival kits. Ertl's IH transtar kit. There are more that I had but I have to think of them as to exact manufacturer
Craig Irwin Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 No one kit in particular but I started building with the 1960 and 61 Jo-Han annuals. My dad brought them home and we built them together. I remember a lot of Mopars and Oldsmobiles, and would love to see them again.
62rebel Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Superfly Gran Prix or Sweathogs Dream Car version. I had both when they were new issues, ended up trashing them, like most from those days; a Lindberg Jaguar D-type, even if it's horribly wrong; a '73 Pinto sedan, and the AMT Capri II kit.... the Testor's reissues of the IMC '48 Fords and Ford Lotus, and these select Johan kits, an S/Crambler, Javelin, Rebel SST, Boss Man '68 Cadillac, '64 Polara, Petty Belvedere, Sox and Martin 'Cuda, '68 Roadrunner, the Superbirds..... MPC's Mopar Missile, Motown Missile, ANY and ALL of the Pro-Stock series, and the entire Grand National NASCAR series, even with their incorrect engines and adjustable chassis...
Snake45 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Did JoHan do a '68 Road Runner? I was thinking they only did the GTX in '68, and then both the RR and GTX in '69. I had a '69 RR--and still have it.
l88 chevelle Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 johann, haulin hearse, sox and martin cuda, amt mach won funny car,mpc scat city funny car, jolly roger show car.i am sure there are lots of others
Scott Colmer Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Hmmm.A lot of the Tom Daniel zinger types like the Boss Bulldozer and Extreme Shovel that I had as a kid.Lately I have been watching Testors Miss Budweiser boats going on e-bay. I had one then sold it. Hopefully there will be one at a reasonable price at the NNL West this year. Scott
Mark Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Did JoHan do a '68 Road Runner? I was thinking they only did the GTX in '68, and then both the RR and GTX in '69. I had a '69 RR--and still have it. Jo-Han only did the Fury in '68, hardtop and convertible. The GTX hardtop came in for '69, first as a promotional model and then the kit. The promo has a different chassis from the kit. A GTX convertible kit was announced but not released. The Road Runner hardtop kit was also first issued in '69. It's a rarity for Jo-Han: an annual kit without an equivalent promo model. '70 was the same deal: GTX hardtop promo and kit, RR hardtop kit. For both years, the GTX kits included a funny car chassis while the Road Runner included a NASCAR version (the '69 annual included Richard Petty markings; the kit likely came out before Petty announced his move to Ford). The '70 GTX was the last Plymouth promo model issued by Jo-Han.
vintagedragcrazy Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 That is one bad looking roadrunner it just has that nasty attitude look if you ever want rid of it look me up I'd give it a good home!!!vince
Snake45 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 That is one bad looking roadrunner it just has that nasty attitude look if you ever want rid of it look me up I'd give it a good home!!! vince Nope. In fact, I'm planning to do another one exactly like it on a common '80s reissue (maybe using an AMT chassis) and display the two of them together as a "Then and Now," as I did with my orange '69 Chevelles.
426-Hemi Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Me, I tell ya thats a dang good question! I HAD a single Italeri Western Star kit that came in the brown box, the 6400 series truck that was an a 1989 model truck, I'd almost kill to replace that one! (The one I had, I lost in a house fire when my home place burnt!) -I learned to drive truck in one that was an old Atlas Van Lines tractor, had a 425 Cat in it..... Road Ranger 13 speed. What a nice truck for its time! Specially for a fleet truck, with a full bunk!!I also had:Monogram '69 Dodge "440 6 Pack" car, a 1969 Dodge Coronet Super Bee.AMT-Ertl 1978 International Transtar II Eagle COE tractor. (This one, I'd almost kill for mere parts of it right now!) -I had a couple of these way back when....All of the above was lost in a fire when my old Home place burnt to the ground..... Everything else I had, I got at least a single car of that were "Mopar" I lost a ton tho.... Chevy and Ford in there.... Those I'm not to worried about sad loss however, not lookin to try and get those back, but the top 3, two tractors, and one car...... I'd love to locate one of each again if I could EVER afford too, that Italeri Western Star is a expensive one, (It was even back then) I paid quite a bit for that kit in the late 1990's! Now I can't imagine the cost!

This Is why I just love this forum, I didn't know that jo-han did not do a 68 Roadrunner. Always knew about the 69, but for some reason I thought that there was a 68. Also a few other things that I did not know. Thank you for posting this one. As far as what kits that I would want back that I had Hmmm, I guess that I'll take the easy way and say anything Jo-Han and Mpc. I just don't know where to start, I WANT EVERYTHING . I am also so amazed at all the different types of kits that I missed out on back in the day as a kid. I never thought of how scarce some of these car kits would become. Thank you everyone. Jeff
