Roadrunner Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 LOL! Thanks Ed, Dan and Kevin! I'll be attaching the battery cables in the next couple of days. I'll be eyeballing, count on it.
mustang1989 Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 Started on the battery cables this morning by adhering the terminal ends to the cable. Will be routing the cables first and then painting after all the bends are finished.
Roadrunner Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 They do look good, too bad they're not thicker though. To me, that's a major drawback to some P.E. stuff.
mustang1989 Posted July 27, 2016 Author Posted July 27, 2016 I hear you there Kevin. I just haven't been able to locate a more convincing set at this point. I'm a little bit everywhere in the engine compartment right now. In the meantime while I'm searching for battery cable terminal ends I started working on something I could do something with. The master cylinder and brake lines:
mustang1989 Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Thanks Rich and Dan. Hopefully I can get back on this one full force tomorrow morning.
Roadrunner Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 nice details !!Agreed. I have no idea when I'll have the guts to tackle an engine.
mustang1989 Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Thanks Kevin. Awwww man you've got it in the bag brutha! Just take it on like it is it's own kit and you'll be fine. If you can pull of interiors like your doin' it wont be nothin' for you pal.
afx Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Battery looks very good Joe. It takes a little more time but details like this really elevate the finished build.
mustang1989 Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Thanks JC. Ok gang, I ended up trying to adhere the master cylinder assembly onto the firewall this morning and in the process of gluing it to the firewall I made contact between the two in the absolute wrong place on the firewall. I mean it STUCK and there wasn't any removing it without damage to the paint. I managed to break it free and wound up with a big 'ol primered spot on the firewall. Man I was pissed!!! Beyond pissed! I got up and walked away from the whole mess for about 20 minutes , came to my senses, returned to the bench and dispensed some Tamiya X-29 Black I had and shot it through the airbrush to cover up that God awful mess there on the firewall. My problem was that the vacuum hose was just a shade too long so trimmed it back and stared over again. This time I got it. If you look close you can see the outline of the boo-boo just to the right of the master cylinder but the good news is that the body L/H inner fender well will cover this up.I also got the primer coat on the hood for the fourth time! They say the third time is the charm but I guess we'll have to make an exception here with this thing.Today's progress:
Mopar - D Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Joe looks good with the engine sitting in there. Yea I agree some time we just have to walk away cool down and come back and make it right.
Roadrunner Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Thanks Kevin. Awwww man you've got it in the bag brutha! Just take it on like it is it's own kit and you'll be fine. If you can pull of interiors like your doin' it wont be nothin' for you pal. Thanks a bunch, Joe. There does seem to be some unwritten rule that super glue will anchor something in the wrong place almost instantly, but seldom will do the same thing where you actually want it.
mustang1989 Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 Thanks Dan, Kevin and Rob. I hear you on the odd characteristics of super glue Kevin and you nailed it.I managed to get the battery adhered to the radiator core support this morning and get the hood primered...............again.

mustang1989 Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 (edited) Mister primer, that may become your new nickname. If you're not careful.....I may just add that to my signature. lol Edited August 1, 2016 by mustang1989
Roadrunner Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 If you're not careful.....I may just add that to my signature. lol Where's the like button when I need one?
mod3l Lover Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Well after 3 attempts and strippings of the door panels I think I've finally got 'em down. I finished up the BMF job this morning on them. Joe, These are beautiful, they are a work of art in themselves, that's for sure!! I have been trying to catch up on some of threads that I was following, and this truck is a gem, I just love it. David S.
slusher Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Nice save on the master cylinder Joe. Mr Primer that's funny you do have trouble with hoods man...
Randy D Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 That shot of the engine compartment looks great Joe, outstanding detail work !!!! Randy
Roadrunner Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 If you're not careful.....I may just add that to my signature. lol And I see that you did add it. How funny. I should do something similar, like "botched paint job", since I've messed up almost every one so far.
mustang1989 Posted August 3, 2016 Author Posted August 3, 2016 I made some progress this morning with the rear door inside trim paneling and the door hinge in regards to painting and applying the clear coat.As for the hood? Things continue to plague the finishing of it. I primed it the day before last, painted it yesterday and the finish came out really clean. All was well until I tried to airbrush some dispensed clear and it spider webbed on me. Looks like it's back in the brake clean for a fourth time. Fifth try..............comin' up. I aint all that worried as I know I'll get it but man........resilient this thing is! Un....believable!
crazyrichard Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 well that master cilinder and brake fluid reservoir look killer !! love it
