I loved the show the first time around, so I'm happy to see the old gang back (Scully looking somewhat the worse for wear, Mulder pretty much exactly the same as he did the first time around). But like the previous edition of the show, I find it annoying that the plot line is so convoluted. I didn't remember that girl "Svetla" or whatever her name is, so the whole "aliens made me their baby momma" thing was goofy. I don't know... too many plot lines flying around at once. I want to sit back and enjoy the show without straining to just keep up with the story line and who's who and why they're there, etc.

Good production values, though... just like always.

Love the show... just wish they kept it a bit easier to follow. But yes, I'll be watching again next week. ;)

..."aliens made me their baby momma"...

Didn't catch the show...no cable...but I'll definitely have to remember the above line next time somebody asks me why I did something incredibly stupid. :D

Frankly, I could just watch the old version of Gillian walk around for an hour every week. No plot necessary

She's not quite as hot these days as she used to be... :(

Still a good looking woman, but she has definitely aged. But to be fair, she is pushing 50 these days...

BTW... you don't need cable. FOX is a "free" over the airwaves network. I have cable hooked up to the downstairs "big" TV, just an old-fashioned antenna hooked up to the upstairs TV, and I watched the show on the upstairs TV... no cable needed.

My TV guide shows part 2 is on TONIGHT  at 8pm (west coast time on the Fox channel) on DISH.

Not a fan but I wouldn't want those who are to miss it.

Tonight?

Geez, thanks for the heads up!

Edit: Thanks, Mike! I just set up the DVR. I totally missed the fact that it was on tonight, figured it was a Sunday nite show.

If you were on the east coast and set your PVR you got hosed.

It WAS supposed to start at 11 PM here but of coarse the game went over with a bunch of yacking so X didn't start until 11:30.  Only got the first 1/2 of the show. Floody football !!

My wife is a big fan of the series and I have just kind of watched it out of the corner of my eye. Scully, If I wasn't happily married I could consider becoming a stalker. Last summer "Mulder" played a detective in a series about Charlie Manson and set at a time I lived in southern California. It was very well done and I enjoyed his acting. I wish that would come back, but it doesn't look like it will.

I saw both first episodes. I like it.

I don't believe "Svetlana" was from the original show. Certainly not played by that actress, who has also been doing a HOT job as a Russian spy on FX's The Americans for the last two (three?) seasons.

BTW, Glenn Beck said this morning that the producer of the show said in an interview that the interweb "conspiracy guy" is based on him (Beck), or a combination of Beck and Alex Jones. I didn't see any Beck in that character, but did see him as an Alex Jones type, if Alex Jones were about 80% sane instead of about 40% sane. :D

Ok, good to know that Svetlana wasn't a carryover from the previous edition, because I was wracking my brain trying to remember her and how she fit into the plot.

I've enjoyed the two episodes so far...the second episode pacing felt better, crisper..the first one was a little slow, but they had to re-establish who was who and what was going on after all the years away.  It was odd there was no mention of the Svetta storyline in the 2nd episode...1st one ended ambiguously as to her fate.  Episode 3 looks like it will be a 'monster of the week' type episode rather than a conspiracy one.   I need to go back and rewatch the original series, was a fan from the first episode, but haven't rewatched many...

I loved both episodes,HUGE fan of X Files here (the wife and me both). I always thought she (Gillian) was hot, she's still not bad (and I'm only 42 :P ). Have been rewatching every episode available (202 episodes) on Hulu for the last few months again, but we'd seen all of em when new too. Hope they make it a regular (not a 6 episode mini series) :)

Loved it!

The X-Files has been my fav show since it debuted back in the early 90s. I've been waiting for this return for years!

I enjoyed the premiere. Thought the story line was perfect. It dove right back in, bringing back the mythology of the black oil, the alien baby thefts/experiments, the Cigarette Smoking Man. Forget pandering to anyone watching for the first time, this one was for the fans. And I loved it.

I hope the ratings are strong enough over the 6 episodes that they decide to bring it back permanently.

I doubt they'll bring it back permanently, Anderson and Duchovny are both on record stating that they would only do the show again for a handful of episodes, not a full season. They could try with new actors but I doubt that would work either.

If the ratings are good enough, and the network offers Anderson and Duchovny enough cash, you never know what might happen. Personally, I'm hoping the series does get picked up beyond the six episodes scheduled. Big fan from day 1! :D
