This may not be the right place for this question, however I have seen this kit online namely the round2corp website and was curious if anyone here has gotten one yet, what caught my eye was the photo etch pieces that I could use on another project and not a big fan of lindberg if the kit was worth it or just worth buying the kit for the photo etch.

Hi. Let me start by saying that  I probably won't answer your question to thoroughly and I will apologize now. What I have heard and read about this kit is that all it is is a re-issue of the same lindberg kit and when it comes to some lindberg kits they are not all that great, including this one. I can't answer anything about the photo etch. Now let me tell you none of this will stop me from getting one myself as it has been on my list to get. The box art is just too cool to pass up and to me it does not matter if the kit inside stinks as  my building skills also stink  ( I'm getting better ) . Hopefully this has helped but maybe someone else can explain more.   Thanks.       Jeff

thanks Jeff, I have to agree seeing the box art is way cool I have been planning on buying it since I seen it but in the past with Lindbergh some kits are good like there 61 impalas but some are to me just a good start but they could have put in some more work on them. Just was curious as to any pit falls or things to look out for, when I get it will let everyone know what the kit is like unless some one beats me to the punch.

Absolutely please let us know how it is. I'm just going by what I have read and heard about it just being the same old kit and the only new stuff is the photo etch and box art but you never know so please show us what is inside the box. It is on my list to get  ( someday ) and I will definitely get one if just for the cool factor.

Thank you.     Jeff

It looks like it might be a photo of the model (retouched of course...), so their might be hope. The wheels and tires appear decent and the motor doesn't look too horrible.

There was some info on this kit in the "reviews" section, but I can't seem to find it.

It's basically a rehash of this old-tool Lindberg "Drag Rag", a very simple kit.

Pretty much nothing about it has anything whatsoever to do with any real vehicle...especially not the "1934 Ford Roadster" it says on the box.

It DOES look like it could be a good jumping-of point for a custom or radical hot-rod build. (NOT MY MODEL)

It wont be till the end of February till I get the funds to have my local hobby shop order one but if no one has a review of it before ill let you all know then take pics and let everyone know whats in the box....

Yes, it's a photo of the model.....retouched?  Not that I can see.

It's just the old '34 pickup with the PE parts and new decals added.

Like Bill said; this is one of those kits you use as a jumping-off point for something a little more creative.  As a stand-alone kit, it certainly has it's limitations.

That must share a sprue or two with the 32 Ford Hot Rod kit. Same engine, grill, radiator housing and frame for sure. Looks like a few other parts as well.

I like the looks of the photo etch, to bad companies do not offer to sell just the photo etch, I know I know they want to sell the whole kit but would love to be able to just get the photo etch..

Ah thanks Chuck, did not see that thread, wish I had would have not started this one that one answered all my questions including knowing now I just may pass on it.............

Granted my knowledge of hotrods is limited, not really my style. Im only 32 keep in mind. But what is this exactly? It doesnt look like a 34 Roadster, nor does it look like a 34 Pickup! The body looks nothing like a roadster. The roadster curves down in the back not up. This looks like a sedan with the roof chopped off and a shortened truck bed! Am I wrong or is google images not giving me the right info?

I had the old reissues of Lindberg rods hanging around on my shelf for years and I would have to say I had little or no respect for them.  However, over Christmas I was in a bit of a rut and decided to slam them together purely as an historic example of early Lindberg kits, nothing else.  At first they were going to be box stock but the wheels and tyres are average, the steering wheel seems to have come from a English bus from the thirties, the stance is woeful and the headlights are just plain goofy!  And you could say that about every Lindberg hot rod, 1/32 or 1/25th, and I've got ém all!  So I decided I had better help them along with a few tweaks.

Then something amazing happened - they started to look really cool!  To say I was caught out is an understatement.  If I had realised how good they could look I would have scribed recessed door lines, filled the holes in the cowl and fabricated a floor for the otherwise hollow bottom of the car.  Too late now, it was painted so I just soldiered on.  The tarp is from the Revell Willys pickup - perfect width and the bit you chop off to correct the length does a nice job of filling the dip in the tailgate! Headlight buckets are from the kit with better rims and lenses from my parts box.  Headlight bar is a bent pin. Another pin was cut up to form some bumper brackets so that the rear nerf bar isn't glued to the tailgate.  I left the dumb big rig exhaust pipes off. Apart from wheels, tyres and steering wheel and these few mods, it is out of the box.

So here is the (alleged) 34 roadster pickup.  If I find another one cheap I might have another crack at it with the afore-mentioned improvements. Does anyone know if the rat rod reissue includes the full fenders?

Cheers

Alan

Very nice job Alan. And it shows what model building is all about. Building. Not just assembling (though just assembling can be fun too).

I hope you buy the kit Darren, and have some fun with it. Just post us some pictures when your done.

I am and always have been a firm believer that any kit and I mean any kit that is not up to today's standards can be built into a beautiful model with just a little more work. I am totally honest with myself as a builder and I absolutely "Stink " at building but I am getting better. So my point is that if I can build a kit that is low on the parts and quality scale and turn it into a really nice and realistic model then I would imagine just about anyone else could too. Also I have a Blast of Fun working on a model that needs a lot of help, the more the merrier.  Thank you.      Jeff
