Greg, that's a seriously great collection you have there. I have about 2/3rds of the Suzuki someplace in the stash. Wish I could find the rest. I'll be buying one of these sets. Maybe I can find the little Zuk and finish it with parts from the Yamaha.

Does anyone know specifics as to what bike/engine/etc these are supposed to be?

I just remembered (yes, brain is seriously going) that I bought a used Yamaha IT 175 dirt bike in about 1984 and it looks like this could be close enough for me to make it worth buying.

When originally tooled by MPC the bike represented a 68-71 Yamaha DT-1 250 Enduro with the lights removed and a motocross-style high front fender.  The exact year could be determined by whatever color you chose to paint it (68-white, 69-metallic gold, 70-metallic red, 71-metallic orange).

As reissued by Round2 the the same tooling is being used but there is no reference to any manufacturer (the joys of licensing).  No manufacturer nameplates will appear on the bike.

Below are pics of a '68 DT-1, an MPC DT-1 from a Dodge pickup with lights added from the scrap box, and a Suzuki T400 from the same pickup (unfortunately the Suzuki  is not being reissued).

The specific box art nomenclature for the MPC bikes is:

"Suzuki 250 Motorcross Bike" (per box art for 1977 Dodge D150 pickup kit #1-7709)

"Yamaha 250cc Trail Bike" (per box art for 1972 Chevy Stepside [longbox] Pickup kit #1-0411)

The Yamaha parts breakdown includes wheel/tire molding (x2), engine/frame molding (x2), front fork, front fender, exhaust, seat, handlebars, kickstand, and a # roundel.

Best Regards...TIM

I have to get a couple of those myself....I remember building them when they came with the old MPC Dodge pickups and van kits...love to see those make a comeback someday but doubt they ever will...bummer..!

I think all of them will be molded in silver. At least that is what I have read online.

I'll be in for a pack of these in the future.

I'm really looking forward to these! Living in Austin, the home of everything hipster and retro, I see restored bikes like this being ridden around town by guys who probably weren't even born then. If only I had kept my Suzuki TS 185 and Honda XL! There must be a niche market for accessories. Please buy these in mass quantities and maybe we can convince the companies to reintroduce the Triumph and all the other bikes, The Revell Honda Odyssey and maybe they can dig up or retool the go-kart and the canoe as well. I'm also thinking of cutting the engine out of one of these to scratch a replica of that AMT go-kart if I can't manage to score one yet again.
