Danno Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 AMT is releasing (June) a double pack of dirt bikes - 1/25 scale! The old bikes from the '70s era MPC Dodge pickup and van kits! Woooo hooooo!
von Zipper Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 That's great news , I'll be getting a few of these. The originals are going for crazy prices. I got one in a trade a few years ago and paid dearly. I had a 1971 CT175 when I was a kid , found a picture of one on line when I was building a replica of my bike. One of the cool things about these bikes is that any size between a 125/175/250cc all looked about the same except the color.
mikemodeler Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Looking forward to getting these as well. I remember having several of these, one from the MPC Dodge pickup and another from the MPC 72 Chevy Stepside. My first tries were glue bombs so hopefully I will do these justice.
Eshaver Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 These are a much needed accessory for any late 60's to mid 80's era diorama . I remember one member here who stated a convenience store / laundry mat diorama . I have never determined how far he got . he an I are both on Face book , so maybe I need to do a story on Lost Dioramas ..........................
disabled modeler Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 I know I look forward to these kits myself....have many fond memories of building them and the vans they came with many years ago. Just a shame they cant bring back the 71-76 body style vans for us too but Ill take what I can get from them like the bike kits.

CFMgarage Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Not trying to be a douche or anything but this was posted before in a thread not too long ago...
Snake45 Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Would be great if this would spur Revell to reissue their old Parts Pack motorcycles.
Mr. Metallic Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Obviously Round 2 is having success with their parts packs (or else we would not keep seeing new ones) Too bad Revell hasn't seen the light to do the same thing, even if it was just to reissue the motorcycles.Well, maybe someday. For now I'll keep taking these great ones from Round 2
Matt Bacon Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 That looks like a couple more to add to my "McQueen's Machines" project...bestest,M.
1930fordpickup Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 Revell did release the engines a few year before AMT started doing these latest parts packs. They must have not sold good enough to bring out the others they have. That is a shame they could not make enough money to keep it going.
Daddyfink Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 AMT is making parts packs from items that where not parts packs to begin with. Revell needs to follow suit and do the same with some of its accessories. Revell had all those van and truck kits with extra goodies. Who wants a Honda Odyssey? Some bikes with a trailer? A dune buggy? Some Jet Bikes? Yes, I want them all! But Revell is just stuck on re-issuing their old and tired engine packs. Who would like to see the Revell rims come back with new and nicer tires? Yes, we all would. Come on Revell, just issue the goodies!
om617 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 Cool.but the tires and wheels make it look like a bad die-cast.
martinfan5 Posted March 24, 2016 Posted March 24, 2016 I would love to get both of those kits without having to sell body parts on the black market
von Zipper Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Thanks, Mike-That's my plan to build a few more in different colors.Nice job on he replica. I still have a 1972 CT 175 in Candy Red.

But Revell is just stuck on re-issuing their old and tired engine packs.Revell doesn't keep reissuing their engine parts packs. They reissued them once, and according to inside sources, they sold poorly upon release. You can still find people at swap meets and on ebay selling them for original retail price or less. Because of these "poor sales" they scrapped the plans they had to reissue the motorcycle parts packs. However, I wish they would revisit their parts packs, especially the motorcycles, and the engines that didn't get reissued (especially the Buick). I mean, look at the success that Round 2 has had with theirs! If they weren't successful they wouldn't keep coming out with new ones, would they?

I am glad they will not re-issue the engines, I bought them and have still not used them. But, the AMT stuff, I still have some of the Blueprinter stuff and snagged a few of the last issues. The bikes are neat, but, I heard that the HD licensing was a big sticking point with them. Regardless, it would have been nice to get them back. Back in the early 80's the local Pic N Save discount store had all the Revell Grease 2 kits and the bikes where going for $1.50! I bought one, wish I would have bought more, but, I was a kid and didn't know what they truly where. Hope they re-consider after seeing the success of the AMT stuff and re-issue some of the other parts.
