Harry P. Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 This is the recent (2015) Italeri release of a car that was built for one reason only: to break the existing land speed record (which it did). Scale is 1/12, and if any of you have any questions or want further info on this car or this kit, a fully detailed, blow-by-blow WIP can be found here. The only thing I haven't finished is the hood hold-down straps. At this scale, I can't make the buckles functional, let alone last through more than one or two openings/closings, so I'm showing the model here with one last chance to see the engine. Once I install the belts, the hood is shut for good. I will post new photos of the model once the straps are installed. But for now, I'll call it "finished."
tim boyd Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Harry....simply gorgeous! It's your call to make, of course, but if it were me, I''d forego that straps and leave that incredible engine compartment available to show off from now until....well....many, many years from now. Way to go! TIM
slusher Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Amazing build Harry.! I love. The engine detail. Great craftsmanship...
Sixties Sam Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Harry....simply gorgeous! It's your call to make, of course, but if it were me, I''d forego that straps and leave that incredible engine compartment available to show off from now until....well....many, many years from now. Way to go! TIM I agree about the straps. Incredible model, Harry!Sam
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Beautiful, as usual. When someone asks "what is show-quality?" I should just remember to simply refer them to your models.
Miatatom Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 That engine!!!!!!!!!This looks a lot like the Fiat racer Jay Leno featured on a recent My Classic Car episode. As usual, superlative work.
martinfan5 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Wow, are you sure that is not a real one with trick photography to make it look like a miniature ?Ok, serious time, very nice work, that is beautiful.
CrazyCrank Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 You did a stunning work and the result is wonderful May I ask you how you procedd to obtain such pictures: your model wich looks as though it floats in a pure white atmosphere ?
Harry P. Posted August 24, 2016 Author Posted August 24, 2016 You did a stunning work and the result is wonderful May I ask you how you procedd to obtain such pictures: your model wich looks as though it floats in a pure white atmosphere ? The model was photographed on a bright white paper background, then I used Photoshop to adjust the brightness and contrast so that the background becomes pure white.
Mr Stock Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 You quite of ten here the expression " I thought it was a real car", this could definetly pass as one, what an incredible model, absolutely beautiful.
om617 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Amazing! Are those the kit wheels? Anyway it looks fantastic.
Ramfins59 Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Another absolutely gorgeous model from your bench Harry. I agree that it would be an absolute shame to hide that masterfully detailed engine.
PARTSMARTY Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 I don't what to say. On a scale of 0 to 100-that's a 1000-WOW !!!
Crazy Ed Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Joining in the Chorus, Well Done!! Those Chains were worth the effort even though they are larger in scale. As to the Straps, couldn't you leave'em laying on the floor and the hood up. It'd be a shame to hide all that Art Work away.
RestoModGuy Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Stunning work and detailed craftsmanship.Museum quality.Impressive build.
cobraman Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Another fantastic model. The chain looks good. Nice work as usual.
gluebum Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Absolutely stunning!! It's a shame about hiding the engine, it's fantastic!
Yahshu Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Beautiful, should display it with the hood open, be a shame to hide all that engine detail
