Harold Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 These are like Lay's potato chips. The red one is an .88 LX V8, the blue one is an '87 Turbo Coupe and the brown one with the TC hood and white nose is my '87 V6 base model. Can't have just one...
espo Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I think I like the Turbo nose the best. They all look to be in very good condition especially for "rust belt" cars.
iamsuperdan Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 I've always liked this body style. Especially the TC.
Harold Posted October 5, 2016 Author Posted October 5, 2016 The turbo sat for a while. It has 86.000 miles on it. Oddly. though it doesn't have many options on it. Premium sound, sunroof, auto and that's it. Even the passenger seat is manually operated and there's no cornering lamps or headlight delay.
JollySipper Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Nice Cars! I had an '83 T-Bird in high school, really enjoyed it. It rode and drove better than the fox mustang I had a few years later......... Whats the plan for the V6 car? Stroker small block?
Harry P. Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 I'll see your Quiet Riot and raise you a Silver Bullet Band...
Joe Handley Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 You know, it's a good thing I don't have the money or anyplace to park them, otherwise I'd do the same with XJ Cherokees, Turbo K-Cars, and maybe even Chrysler 200s and 2011 and newer Dodge Avengers.............
ChrisBcritter Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 (edited) My two favorites: And I owned an '86 back in the early '90s: V-6; blew a head gasket right on schedule at 128K (I bought it with 72k so it should have already had one set replaced). Edited October 6, 2016 by ChrisBcritter
Harold Posted October 6, 2016 Author Posted October 6, 2016 thanks guys. i've had quite a few fox fords over the years. the red one is going to get fresh paint over the winter. the turbo (aka blue voodoo) is my collector car and the the v6 is my work car, or soon to be again. some idiot backed into it in january, taking out the grill, lights, header and hood. thats when i bought the red one. it had 119,600 on it. even the ac works. the v6 is the best one in the snow. toss the snow tires on it and it is almost unstoppable.
Robberbaron Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Cool! I always thought this generation of T-birds were very sharp. In HS one of my buddy's dads had a white LX V8 very similar to your red one, cornering lights and everything. I always liked the LX's of this generation a bit better, since they still had the chrome grills.
Greg Myers Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 I really liked my 4.6 '97. Had two, first one , white, stolen.
Ron Hamilton Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 (edited) My sister has a Dark Red '88 Thunderbird Sport with a 5.0 in it, which was a very nice car. It needs a paint job, and has a little road rash on it, but it could be made into a nice car, as it is all there, and is under cover. I have a Monogram '88 Turbo Coupe kit, that can be the basis of a build of the car. Ill have to fab the grille, and wheels, and procure a F.I. 5.0/ AOD from the period. Maybe one day. Greg Myers Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 I was partial to my 90 Super Coupe These came with "Directional " wheels. Yours are on backwards.
Richard Bartrop Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 I was partial to my 90 Super Coupe Can't argue with that. I still this it's one of the best looking 'Birds. Definitely better looking than the retro 'Bird that followed it.
Jon Haigwood Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 (edited) These came with "Directional " wheels. Yours are on backwards. This is just a file photo. not sure where my pics are Was definitely a scary fast car. There were a few times I got a bit too heavy on the "go" pedal from a stop and ended up facing the wrong direction. It had the option of pushing a button and stiffening up the suspension for some flat cornering. Hated to get rid of it but the "brain" box went out and there were none available.
