Thank you Dave!

The one thing I have been avoiding...wetsanding!  For me, it's up there with BMF as far as using it.  Now I have heard from both camps on wetsanding metallic paint and I just went and did it.  My reason for wetsanding was to remove as many flaws and dog hair as I could.  When you own (and love) two dogs that constantly shed, the hair is everywhere.  I did succeed at removing the majority of the flaws and have a nice smooth surface so I can repaint the body and hood.

The body and hood will be heading back into the paintbooth when they are dry.

A coat of paint and everything is looking good.  I foiled the body today.

Now its back into the paintbooth for clearcoat.

I'm with you on wet sanding, any color really. I have used this to get rid of orange peal. I have had good luck using Tamiya Compound starting with Fine and then Finish. If you haven't tried them this might be a thought for the future. Your color and foil looks great in the picture.

Thanks David for the suggestion!  I'll keep it in mind the next time I visit the LHS.

If there is one thing I hate doing, it's adding a decal to the shift knob!  Most of the time I end up losing the decal, but not this time!  I coated the knob with Walthers Solvaset while the decal was soaking in water.  Then I carefully placed and positioned the decal on the knob and waited for the Solvaset to do it job of softening the decal.  After several minutes,  I took a paper towel and pressed the decal onto the knob permanently.

I decided to reface the tach and the auxillary gauges in the Belvedere.  I painted the faces black, the needles Chrysler Engine Red, and then add a dollop of Tamiya X-11 Clear over the faces.  I then added more clear over the rest of the dash gauges.

I like this build very much. I have decided to do mine as a full dress Hemi Race car, using parts from the Melrose Missile kit, and some of those nice Fireball Design Carbs.. I also picked up the Model Car Garage Photoetch set, as I do not like decalized scripts, and the Belvidere I Script will disappear after I do my rudimentary bodywork. Your car is looking very nice so far.

Thank you Joe and Ron!  I wasn't aware of the MCG Photoetch set until  sometime well into December.  I decided to forge ahead minus the photoetch since I had other things onmy mind at the time.  Not sure if I'll use the decal scripts as I might try to drybrush the scripts instead.  We shall see...

Clearcoat!  I used Testors Ultra Gloss Clear on the Belvedere this morning.  Now to let it dry then some polishing later.  Maybe tomorrow or later in the week.

Man , that is coming along quite nicely , Mike ! I positively love that colour !

You have the patience of a saint , putting that shifter ball decal on () . Very nice interior work , too !

Have yourself a great week , Mike !

Thanks John!  You have a good week, too!

I went and bought a new cutting pad for the workbench and in the process, I spilled a small container of lacquer thinner on it and messed up the rear panel.  That is now sitting in some oven cleaner and I'll repaint and re-clear the panel later.

I'm getting close to finishing the Belvedere!  I started assembling the body to the chassis and found that the front sat way higher than I really wanted it to.  I carefully pryed the spindles out and reversed them back to the stock position and now the stance is right where I want it.

Your Belvedere is looking really nice.  That color with those wheels and that stance really look sweet.  I am building a Belvedere as well.  Mine will be black with bare black steelies and a red interior.  I am calling it, The Villain...

Anyway, yours is really inspiring and I can't wait to see it completed. I really dig the engine as well.  You have the 426 looking like a 426 should.

Thank you Jim, Chris, and Clifton!

I have finished my '65 Belvedere I and it is posted in Under Glass.  I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.
