bonehead23 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) I am sure you all are familiar with round 2's "mini-boxes". If so, how many do you have? This year i have acquired 39 and more are in sealed kits. I never assembled one, and don't intend to as they take up much more space that way!!! Edited October 18, 2016 by bonehead23
AC Norton Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I don't know how many I have, but I use them as a mixing pad for stirring and blending brush paints...lol........the Ace...
Dragline Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I have built a few as bonus' for customer cars. The look on their faces when they see them is pretty cool. They think I went through a lot of trouble when the reality is about 10 mins with scissors, white glue and tape. I have a few on the shelf as well.
Snake45 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I have a few--I dunno, maybe a dozen or so, maybe more--but I've never paid any attention to them.I'd build them if they were in actual 1/25 scale. Now THAT would be cool!
Edsel-Dan Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I have a fewand would love to get more, but.........I will pay postage (IF I CAN) to get as many as possible.---MIGHT be only way I get certain kits) I know of ONE 1/25 scale kit box included in a KitOriginal issues of AMT's 409 Impala Convertible (The Modern Tool--Modified re-issue of the 409 Bel Air Bubbleback)ON the decal sheet!!!'And YES I did itThough not how they said to!! Did they leave that decal sheet as is on re-issues of that kit??
unclescott58 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I like these stupid mini boxes. And I don't know why? I always end up leaving them face down in the real box they came in. Yet I'm glad they are there, and hope Round 2 keeps on including them with more kits in the future. I know there is no logic to why I want them to continue with them. I just do.
JTalmage Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I like them too... I also leave them in the box. I think in the back of my mind that one day when I'm out of models to build (yeah, right!) that I'll sit down and put all these together and display them next to the car... who knows.
Lunajammer Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I like these stupid mini boxes. And I don't know why? X2. I don't collect them, but I don't throw them out either. I downloaded one and printed it out on card stock at work. I use it at my desk as a coin box for the pop machine.
Lizard Racing Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I see no point to the mini-boxes. Leave those out and drop the price a few cents. But that's just me.
carman1 Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 X2. I don't collect them, but I don't throw them out either x3
Mike C Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 (edited) Here's a mini box I made myself. It's a 1/25 scale box on a 1/25 scale model. It's on the windshield. Edited October 18, 2016 by Mike C
bonehead23 Posted October 18, 2016 Author Posted October 18, 2016 Many things I never considered here!!! Re-purposing them is cool. But I agree, WTF are they for? What's the point? Just goes to show that anything will be coveted as long as the company claims it is "collectable", right? I will just keep them in a box , like baseball cards. Some day they might be worth something when my grandkids are old and inherit all my stuff.

I have a couple of them of the kits I really like.
Art Anderson Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 We did a lot of those back in Tom Lowe's former life, when he owned Playing Mantis, the producer of Johnny Lightning diecasts--we had a series of JL cars that were directly model kit-inspired, and their blister card included a miniature of the model kit box.Art
stavanzer Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I'd like to get rid of mine. Waste of time & effort to me, IMHO.But, I have not thrown any away either. Just too much trouble to take out and get rid of.
Ace-Garageguy Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Useless to me, other than as a layer of protection for the decal sheet I'll leave in the box so I know what kit a particular decal may have come from.
cobraman Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I misspoke, I did not throw them all out. I saved 2.
1930fordpickup Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I like them, many different uses for them. Mine are still in the bottom of the boxes as well.
carman1 Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I missed that Honda Trail 70 completely, when did it come out ?
cobraman Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 It was reissued as well as the 750 Honda a few months ago. Great little kit !
bonehead23 Posted October 25, 2016 Author Posted October 25, 2016 Realized I have many more than 39...I papered the wall near my workbench with about 15 more of them. One more use for these things.
paul alflen Posted October 25, 2016 Posted October 25, 2016 HOW ABOUT PUTTING THEM AS ORNAMENTS ON A CHRISTMAS TREE NEAR THE WORK BENCH.?
